I am so confused. So prig is moving back to field camps, I assume in Ukraine, but what about the Chechens who are supposed to be on Rostov to sort Wagner out? Will they go?

and what has prig been offered to stop? And the fact he got so near to Moscow with no fight back from Russian troops surely shows how weak the Russians army is, and therefore Putin, as will this negotiated deal, and the world, and world leaders know that now

or will it make Putin even more mad?

MagicFox · 24/06/2023 18:31

RTB is right, at the same time he says negotiations with Lukashenko failed. This is....too weird. Something fishy about this whole thing

If a deal had been done to have Wagner stand down, that would be a huge win for Putin. Yet the Kremlin has nothing to say about it.

Something is very off.

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 24/06/2023 18:57

Yeah, there are plots within plots and a great deal of deception. But in this case, Putin looks much weaker now and Prigozhin much stronger - and if it's true that Putin's thrown Gerasimov and Shoigu under the bus, then all of Moscow and the oligarchs know that Putin will sell them out if it's convenient. Loyalty is no longer a thing.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 24/06/2023 18:58

That was the mother of all u turns.

At least I was right, it was over quickly. 😀

Not sure if Putin would see it that way - he's had to concede something rather than having absolute power.

YesSirMam · 24/06/2023 18:58

Perhaps set up by Putin to see who is loyal to him.

stbrandonsboat · 24/06/2023 18:59

Urgh, they look like a pair of tom cats squaring up to each other, making a lot of noise and then backing down at the last minute with Putin turning tail and legging it to safety.

Pair of pussies

CreationNat1on · 24/06/2023 19:01

Putin just bought himself some time, wagner guy is going to be bombed.

Putin, the angry little dictator, will take them out.

Wheresthebeach · 24/06/2023 19:01

I fear the negotiation is about more force in the war on Ukraine. He's known for favouring small nuclear weapons (the madman) which is something Putin hasn't resorted to.

I wonder if wagner group had been promised an area of Ukraine upon victory?

Changechangechanging · 24/06/2023 19:05

It feels....like a distraction? What has been going on in Ukraine whilst the whole world has been looking the other way?

Wheresthebeach · 24/06/2023 19:07

YesSirMam · 24/06/2023 19:02

They've clearly been promised something significant. The removal of the Defence Minister perhaps? I don't know - after Putin called him a traitor its going to be tricky to suddenly backtrack and do business with him.

The whole thing is worrying and makes no sense.

Wheresthebeach · 24/06/2023 19:07

Although Putin didn't name him in his rant...

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/06/2023 19:07

Thanks everyone who answered my question. So good to have such intelligent posters on here.

itsgettingweird · 24/06/2023 19:07

I can't help but feel the truth of the situation lies in the words about getting so far without spilling a Russian blood but stopping before they do.

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 24/06/2023 19:08

It seems that Ukraine may be crossing the damaged Antonovsky Bridge that is a major route out of Kherson onto the Left Bank of the Dnipro, which Russia still holds.

If this is the case then this may have spurred Prig and Putin to come to some sort of accommodation, in order to try to stop Ukraine making more gains.

Russian aircraft have been busy within Russia in the last hours and this has given the Ukrainians more opportunity.

(From Trent Telenko)
(example of temporary bridging, though it's a different river)

.......Yeah, that's true. Fits with @CheshireCat1's maskirovka (deceptiveness) too.

Prigozhin has wanted the incompetent Gerasimov and Shoigu removed as leaders in this war for a very long time now.

I go surfing with the kids and come back to this!

Definitely a WTF moment and I will be interested to see if Ukraine has made any significant gains.

Also, like it or not, Putin's regime is not longer regarded as impregnable and I think this will be the beginning of the end for him. If not Wagner (thank gods), then some one else.

shockthemonkey · 24/06/2023 19:21

Thanks to everyone for their knowledge and analysis, especially DucksOfWar.

One doesn't quite know what to wish for!

Exactly
In only 18 hours they got to the outskirts of Moscow, took out 7 planes/helicopters and only lost one truck.
This makes the Putin regime look really weak.

minsmum · 24/06/2023 19:23

I wouldn't stand near any windows or drink any tea in the next few months of I was Prigohzin
