I initially read that as ' Terdiversation ' after a quick read.
It is Terg!
Good word, not heard that one before

AdamRyan · 15/06/2023 13:36

Heard Michael Fabricant (I think!) claiming that Harriet Harman was prejudiced and it should have been a judge led trial.

Several callers on radio5 this morning claiming it was impossible to follow the rules and Johnson shouldn't be punished for that. I was wondering if Janiie/Clav were among them.

I really hope the mps vote sensibly on Monday. But it makes Sunak and yhe resignation honours look ridiculous and corrupt.

Blossomtoes · 15/06/2023 13:40

A commenter on The Telegraph site has referred to him as “the Conservative Corbyn”. If Tory MPs don’t do the right thing on Monday it’s another nail in their coffin come the GE. Although things already look so bad perhaps they’re beyond caring about that.

Blossomtoes · 15/06/2023 11:41

How could the normal cheerleaders on here defend him?

They can’t. That’s why they’re conspicuous by their absence.

The current line is basically obediently following Johnson's lead to the letter. It wasn't an impartial committee, it's all nonsense, only Johnson tells the truth etc etc. I'm waiting for them to say it's tripe and deranged.

A judge led trial? Is he quite sure Boris would prefer to be questioned about this in a setting where lying could lead to his imprisonment? Be careful what you wish for!

AdamRyan · 15/06/2023 13:57

I was surprised by some of what I heard, given what's happened to Johnson. Sunak needs to grow a spine and take action against these politicians that continue to undermine our democratic system. It's so damaging.

I wonder if he might be trying to give them enough rope to hang themselves? Ie he's got a good idea that most Tory MPs won't stick their necks our for Johnson, and it benefits him if the ones who do show themselves to be marginalised and impotent.

How many pages in the report? Clav may be 'out' for a while stocking up on Pritt sticks for the massive cut n paste job that's ahead of her.

Do you think she has gone to Durham for beer and a curry?

tobee · 15/06/2023 14:25

If it had been a judge led trial (is there a precedent for that? When an MP is being investigated for lying to parliament?) and Johnson had been found guilty these supporters would be whinging about that "he should have been investigated by his fellow MPs!"

I thought judges were all lefty tofu eating wokeratis, or has that changed now.

Anyway I am sure that when Hallett's judge lead enquiry reports, all those who say that this version is impartial will have something more to say.

Blossomtoes · 15/06/2023 14:34

Shame he wasn’t in front of Brenda Hale, she’d have eaten him for breakfast.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/06/2023 15:01

Deselections due to voting for the report are as likely as Sunak making Dorries a baroness.

AdamRyan · 15/06/2023 15:01

Dominic Grieve was very interesting on the BBC earlier. I can't find it online but he said the committee had significant input from an appeals judge on how to run a fair process.

the80sweregreat · 15/06/2023 15:05

I wonder what Dominic Cummings is doing these days ? He set a lot of this up early doors.
Gone to ground a bit lately !

Yes they were advised throughout.

The vast majority of Conservative MPs won’t vote against the Privileges Committee report on Monday. Don’t let unattributed briefings, however extensive, make you think otherwise.

He's assuming of course that they actually turn up (fairly sure a few will have dicky tummys)

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 15/06/2023 15:27

The list of MPs that turn up and vote against is going to be a useful list of the utterly batshit in the Tory party.

In this never ending spiral of contempt, surely some of the stuff being said about the privileges committee is contempt. Not to mention Boris was in contempt when he made the findings public on Friday.

DuncinToffee · 15/06/2023 15:28

Will Sunak vote?

Roussette · 15/06/2023 15:30

Will Nads vote given she resigned "with immediate effect"

The by-elections for Johnson's Uxbridge seat and Adams' Selby seat will be on July 20th

Surely Sunak has a pressing appointment in Ukraine on Monday.

Indeed he is allegedly 'out of London' on Monday
