Princess Kate..... frumpy clothes?

I was looking at some pictures of Kate before she got married. She looked stunning, had style, was really chic and sexy.
Now she looks quite frumpy. The pink dress she wore at the Chelsea Flower show looked better on her mum, because it's a dress for a middle aged woman! WHY is Kate forced into dowdiness? She looks great in trousers and well cut jackets. She's a beautiful woman, are 'they' concerned she might look a bit too good and not be taken seriously? It's like queen Elizabeth. She was beautiful but her clothes were dreadful. Obviously this is my opinion but I'd like to know what others think.

I would imagine she follows a strict line on what works and can’t be seen to wear anything that you can see up, down or through.

I wish I'd never started this thread! I only commented that I thought she looked frumpy in a lot of dresses that are bloody awful. I think she's a beautiful woman and has a great figure. I don't like these stupid and nasty comments about her breasts.

Decades ago, 40 was middle aged and women dressed accordingly. I remember my mum at forty and she looked so much older than me at 40. ...not facially but her hairstyle and clothes. Nowadays forty is still considered young still. I mean Kim Kardashian is in her forties fgs! Not suggesting Kate should dress like that. But anyway, I get the feeling that she is now very conscious of the fact she will be Queen in the not too distant future...she needs to look regal and elegant rather than young and sexy. She's absolutely gorgeous and has an unbelievable figure, she could look hot!

Tottering around looking ‘glam’ all the time is not very current. She might look frumpy to some people, however those people are around 8 years out of date

I don't understand this comment? Who said anything about tottering around looking glam? Have you seen some of her shoes though!

I must say I don't hugely follow the Royals but I remember thinking Megan's wedding dress was awful. She's a really beautiful woman though.

I loved Kates wedding dress.

Kate’s wedding dress was perfect for the occasion but I didn’t like it. The veil was unflattering and the pointy boobs looked odd. I didn’t like her evening dress and twee cardigan either. I bet she massively regrets doing her own makeup too. She was so heavy handed. She has toned it right down now and it looks much better.

@kerryno , they are. PoW is tall with a slim build and doesn't have much of a bosom (not a criticism). I am short, have a fairly wide build and (have been told) am busty. Despite being towards the lower end of normal BMI, I can look fat in photos especially in some clothes.

Princess B and the Duchess of Edinburgh are not much taller than me.

Exactly it just didn't suit her.... not sure it would have suited anyone TBH. It was DOWDY. But this is what I am saying.... who advised her to wear a wedding dress like that? Did she really do her own make up though? When she was going to be watched globally by millions? I can't really believe it. I saw pictures of her turning up to the hotel the day before the wedding and she looked stunning...... what happened in the next 24 hours?? It's all a bit odd really. Anyway she'll never starve so I'm going to shut up now!!

I'm just amazed that you thought she used to look stylish. She used to wear god awful brown clothes all the time. She's had a few great outfits in a sea of dull

I think Givenchy took the piss with MMs dress and the bridesmaids. It all looked rushed and the fabric for MMs dress did not look like high end fabric.

I think the very worst outfit KM has ever worn was a mulberry coat dress to a garden party when she was PG with Charlotte. It had flower-shaped pearl and crystal buttons and was pale green and with the bump made her look like an easter egg with legs. She's got better as she's got older I think, much like her late mother in law.

Oh come on now, McQueen did a technically beautiful job on Kate's wedding dress and to be fair to her, it couldn't be too trendy, look how badly Diana and Sarah's dresses dated.

At the time is was there essence of the 80s but now... Wow... Wow.. Wow.. In a. Sea of samey white tight place gowns it's creamy lucsoious excess, the sparkles, her eyes... A great huge dollop of gorgeousness...

Ever to beautiful repeated sadly and totally perfect for a family more royal than the royals 🤣.

I think Kate's wedding dress was perfect for the task - for most of us, our wedding dresses merely have to be nice dresses. Hers had to announce her arrival as a princess and future Queen, and to compete with the drama of Westminster Abbey. Not to mention the knowledge that it would be in the history books forever. I think the dress, Kate and her family all did a perfect job that day, I would definitely have crumpled under the pressure.

Not a popular view I know, but I loved Meghan's wedding dress, including the hated fit. I loved that it skimmed rather than clung.

Well I don't think Kate often, if ever, looks frumpy- I think she looked great at CFS. She was working, not going to a cocktail party so the dress was appropriate. I would look frumpy in that dress though, as I'm not as slim.

The Royals tend to dress in a certain way for formal occasions as they are upper class. They dress their children traditionally - if you don't like that style it's probably because your peers don't dress their children like that. Personally I like it, although it's not how I dressed my DC.

Her wedding dress was lovely. Much nicer than Diana's , Sarah's or Meghan's. Sophie's was the nicest wedding dress of all though.

Kates wedding dress was beautiful, it fit perfectly.

Diana’s was creased and dated terribly.
