What's for dinner?

For us I found white asparagus in Tesco so we are having white asparagus, nice ham, boiled eggs, hollandaise. DCs are also having chicken drumsticks and veg sticks.

I got some chips from the chippie on my way home from work and on to collect daughter from gymnastics. Ate them while waiting for her to come out. Car stinks now!

We had Nigella's Mirin glazed salmon. Absolutely delicious.

Venison steak, mozzerella sticks, tomato and feta salad and garlic bread!

Bit random but really nice

Chicken fajitas, salad with advocado and potato salad... mainly because stuff need using but it was nice🐽

We are having jambalaya. Easy and quick

We are having whatever the pub is offering this eve. Been a long week, off tomorrow and i cant be bothered to cook.

Nigella's spinach and peanut butter spaghetti. I've had it three times this week because I like it so much, I've been playing around with different proportions of pb/spinach

Coming towards the end of the week so the fridge is getting bare. We have had a pork stir fry.
I've made a chocolate cheesecake so we will tuck into that later.

Too hot to cook anything elaborate so just pesto pasta and roast carrots.

Marcella Hazan tomato sauce, spaghetti, red peppers and sweetcorn. Kids always wolf it down :-)

I randomly bought a crab on impulse today, so crab linguine with asparagus for Dd and I (I put the asparagus on the side for Dd as she’s not a fan but once it was fried in butter she ate it!)

Just looked this up. I need to try this, though am a bit alarmed by peanut butter in spaghetti.

I've had a dreadful day at work and am knackered so just fried egg on toast with brown sauce. It's my go to CBA meal as it takes less than 5 minutes.

Steak pie, mash, carrots, peas and gravy. Ironic on the hottest day of the year so far!

I was originally very sceptical (although I love pb), but it's really not like you think it's going to be. It emulsifies with the lemon juice and pasta water to make a kind of creamy sauce. I've also been adding a bit of red wine.

Tonight DS1 is cooking. Well- he is learning to cook and we have decided friday nights are the night. He is making chicken burgers with lettuce and tomatos and wedges. It's the second time he has cooked so we are going with something simple and I am hoping he is able to turn the oven on himself. (He has some learning issues as well as autism and is terrified of turning on the oven or the kettle so it is a big step).

Butternut and black bean chilli tonight.

Lamb shanks with garlic and parmesan mash in the Thermomix.

A substantial minestrone - I just about have the wherewithal for that - with garlic bread out of the freezer. Sod all else available, I just CBA to even think about shopping today.

Sushi take out tonight. Making up for lost time when I was preggo and had gestational diabetes x

A rice dish I've been making for years which we call Caribbean black eyed bean rice but I don't think it's very authentic. Yummy, though.

Update on our chicken burgers made under supervision by DS1

I always add pickles of some sort to burgers and we currently do not have any so i used pickled beetroot. Some of the beetroot juice went over the worktop. I mentioned casually to DS ; 'can you just clean up the beetroot juice' turned my back to check the oven then turned back to see DS1 carefully dabbing the beetroot slices in the burger buns with the kitchen scourer.
