It also says a lot about Russian military planning that they've left the border of a country they are at war with undefended. Talk about amateur hour. There's plenty of embarrassment for the Russian MoD here too.

Defensive fortifications like that are useless unless you have them under observation and fire control, i.e., you can shoot at anyone trying to cross them. This is really war college 101 material. So the Russians spent a lot of money building them, told themselves "job done", and are now looking a bit useless.

I think this is likely a raid, not an invasion unless these troops are much better equipped and supplied than has been reported.
