I once shared a lift with Liam Neeson.

SophiaElizabethGrace · 26/04/2023 01:20

Keifer Sutherland, I had a bag of Sainsbury's shopping with me. He was filming 24. We spoke.

Simplepink · 26/04/2023 01:21

Dara O’Brien

Unicorn2022 · 26/04/2023 01:25

Samuel L Jackson in LA

thaegumathteth · 26/04/2023 01:25

The Queen drove past us once does that count?

Tarkan · 26/04/2023 01:39

Robbie Coltrane is probably the one best known around the world if that counts as most famous.

He used to use the same paper shop as my mum did in Glasgow so they became quite chatty. I was tiny at the time and he used to try to shake my hand, but I was petrified of him because I honestly thought he was a giant. Hagrid was the perfect role for him IMO. Grin

Although we also once had to get out the way so we weren't run over by the now-King but then-Prince Charles when we were up the Glens once. He did smile and wave once we were on the verge so he could get through (he'd come up towards us quickly but did slow down once he saw us but it's more fun to say he could have run us over 😁). We then said hi to Camilla further down the road as she was out walking with another woman. It's before they were "official". 😁

Robert Powell on Princes Street, Edinburgh. Very famous for playing Jesus.

I was with my friend and very young at the time. I coudn't remember his name.

I said 'Look - it's a Star!'.

Dustin Hoffman - standing behind my seat at the Cottesloe (national Theatre London) - I nudged my mum who couldnt see him until he turned up behind her seat. She dines out on the story even now! 40 years later!

Amy Winehouse walked (actually, staggered!) by my workplace in a little laneway off Marylebone High St earlyish one morning. Must have been about 2009-10; she looked absolutely awful. I'm guessing she hadn't been home since the night before. She was wearing a fur coat and high heels, and her hair was in its trademark beehive but looked a mess. She was weaving all over the place. Poor love; she looked so unwell and so tiny.

Jackienory · 26/04/2023 02:39

I’ve met Boris.

HowManySunflowers · 26/04/2023 02:44

Sean Penn in an Indian restaurant.

Merrow · 26/04/2023 02:49

Emma Watson at the height of her Harry potter fame. She looked so resigned when our eyes met and she realised I'd recognised her that I walked straight past as if I'd no clue who she was.

mathanxiety · 26/04/2023 02:51

Michael Jordan - in Chicago, alone.
Tina Turner - in London, with entourage.

BSB30 · 26/04/2023 02:52

I haven't been near anyone famous but DH walked past Mike Myers in New York

Macklemore, he is from my city in the USA and came home to give a free concert and we suddenly met him in the street.

Triedit · 26/04/2023 02:57

Oh also Bono and The Edge sat at the next table to us at The Dalkly Island Hotel Bar near Dublin one quiet weekday lunchtime.

crispinglovershighkick · 26/04/2023 03:01

Madonna and Guy Richie sat behind me in a pub in Kensington. She was tiny and wore a beautiful tailored coat - tweed with wings (painted? embroidered?) on the back.
Ralph Fiennes in Soho.
Liam Gallagher in Camden.
All 90s I think.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 26/04/2023 03:11

Rowan Atkinson. Turned up to collect his daughter from a big children's party I was nannying at, circa 2003.

Very unassuming and pleasant. We exchanged amused smiles because he knew I knew who he was, and I knew he knew I knew...but he was just there as a regular Dad and I respected his privacy.

Thom Yorke (Radiohead) Browsing art books in Blackwells, Oxford. Made my day, that did. He knocked two hardbacks off a table and swore loudly.

Tony Robinson. (in his Time Team era) Mooching around a picture-framing shop in our tiny town. The bloke behind counter went bright pink with delight, gesticulated wildly and stage whispered "Baldrick's ruddy here".

Johnny Walker (legendary dj/broadcaster). In a Soho pub. Surprisingly shy.

Maria Von Trapp (the real one, inspiration behind The Sound Of Music). In a Vermont restaurant. By then she was a very elderly lady, wrapped up in a huge coat, quietly sitting with very talkative friends.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 26/04/2023 03:13

@Tarkan Am dead envious of you. Robbie Coltrane was an absolute gem.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 26/04/2023 03:15

Jackienory · 26/04/2023 02:39
