The mum from Paddington in the cafe at the Eden Project. My son was pointing and I was whispering “let the poor woman eat her lunch” 🤣 in his defence he was only about 5.

cliffdiver · 02/04/2024 18:24

David and Victoria Beckham on a yacht in St. Tropez.

Mimilamore · 02/04/2024 18:24

Bill Nighy, embracing a waitress outside a restaurant in Mayfair

Bouledeneige · 02/04/2024 18:29

Also seen Jude Law, Vanessa Feltz and Emma Thompson on Hampstead Heath. Not together.

CurlewKate · 02/04/2024 18:31

Seen at random? Idris Elba running across Waterloo station.

coxesorangepippin · 02/04/2024 18:31

Beckham

Wayne Rooney and famille on the same flight as me

Taytocrisps · 02/04/2024 18:35

I met Paul McGrath (ROI footballer) twice.

I was walking into my local coffee shop one morning and some man held the door open for me. I said, "Thanks", but didn't look at his face. When I got into the coffee shop, the staff were all excited. Turns out it was Andrew McCarthy.

Katkins17 · 02/04/2024 18:37

Sunshineandpinkclouds · 02/04/2024 18:38

As a child (& showing my age) we saw Kid Creole and his coconuts in a hotel in Bournemouth

Have also seen Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman at the theatre when they were together.

More recently Helena Bonham Carter,Marcus Waering, Ant (of Ant & Dec), Simon and Yasmin le Bon.

blackcherryconserve · 02/04/2024 18:47

George, Paul and Ringo a very long time ago when I hung around the stage door of the Royal Albert Hall when they were rehearsing there. Only a handful of fans were there 🤩
More recently Harry and Meghan were on the same flight to Cape Town that I was on.

TheCadoganArms · 02/04/2024 18:49

Damon Albarn used to read the Sunday papers down my local greasy spoon cafe while tucking into a full English. He was generally left alone.

karriecreamer · 02/04/2024 18:50

Back in the 70s, I met Olivia Newton John in some shopping centre toilets!

She was absolutely lovely.

Our family had a newsagents shop near where Jim Bowen used to work and he'd often pop in before/after school. That was when he was just starting out as a comedian, working part time alongside his teaching job so just on television occasionally. As he hit the big time, he obviously gave up his teaching.

MaMisled · 02/04/2024 18:53

Brian May of Queen, leaving our little local newsagent. I was in my early 20s and didn't know who he was but 14 year nephew begged me to get his autograph. I said" I'm sorry, I don't know who you are but can you sign this for my nephew?" He was obviously furious, glared at me and strode away! I admit, my approach was awful though!

isitbananatimealready · 02/04/2024 18:54

Eisenhower and Winston Churchill drove past my parents once, during the war. They had a rather large security presence with them. 😂

ODFOx · 02/04/2024 20:54

ZOMBIE!!!!

Zola1 · 02/04/2024 20:56

Once I saw Katy Perry in a gay bar in Liverpool although it was early in her career

TeaandHobnobs · 02/04/2024 20:59

Bob Geldof while on a walk along the Thames

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 02/04/2024 21:02

Prince William many years ago when he was at Eton (he came into my work) and most recently Kate Middleton.

thecatsthecats · 02/04/2024 21:03

We were having this conversation round the dinner table once, and ten minutes in, my dad says casually, "I've met Bill Clinton".

Cue lots of "Whaaaaaaat?!?!?!" responses.

"Well, I saw the back of his head."

The delivery was just amazing :D

Papergirl1968 · 02/04/2024 22:59

Apologies if I already said this earlier in the thread but Robert Plant.
He came in to register at the GP surgery type place where I worked. I just thought he was scruffy old man in need of a haircut until I clocked his name on the registration form.
His address was technically just out of the area but it took the practice manager about ten seconds to say yeah, no problem, we’ll take him!

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 02/04/2024 23:05

Christopher Dean.

Papergirl1968 · 02/04/2024 23:07

I used to be a reporter who covered a few royal visits too, the most memorable by Prince Andrew who was better looking and slimmer than I expected and seemed pretty down to earth and normal (lol) until he put his hands behind his back in the classic Windsor pose and wished the factory workers “a jolly merry Christmas!” in a very pompous way.
You could see them rolling their eyes.

apapuchi · 02/04/2024 23:08

Jimmy Nail moved my toddler son out of a bike path in the park (no bikes coming, fortunately) last weekend.

Billy Zane just after Titanic came out in Chicago. I did a U turn and followed him down the street.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in a ski village bar in Austria in 2005 is my ultimate, wish there had been camera phones around then!

Alicewinn · 02/04/2024 23:08

I saw Amy Winehouse walking down a road in Mayfair. She was barefoot and looked fed up with the paparazzi photographing her. What struck me was how tiny and vulnerable she was. RIP beautiful Amy

Alicewinn · 02/04/2024 23:10

Oh and Bob Geldof in a tea shop in Kent
