I met Bill Bailey in a pub and he then ended up in the same cinema queue as us - he was paying for his son and some friends to see Finding Dory Grin

VeronicaBeccabunga · 26/04/2023 08:25

Princess Anne walked past the cafe window of the sports centre where I go to the gym, she was there for an event for special needs kids.
Ricky Gervais has a house locally and can be seen making a fuss of any dog he meets.
Years ago we took my daughter's French exchange partner into central London and on Regent Street outside Hamley's a bunch of very tall hench blokes went by with Michael Jackson hiding between them. The girls missed it.
Tim Brooke-Taylor held the door open for me in Marks and Sparks, I failed to notice but my husband was rather thrilled.

MarriedMama23 · 26/04/2023 08:37

Me and DH stayed in the Hyatt Regency Birmingham for our wedding night a couple of months ago and saw Ben Shepherd at the reception desk on our way out for dinner.

loislovesstewie · 26/04/2023 08:38

The Marquess of Bath, ( the present ones grandfather), we lived near him. Lord Longford I bumped into him on a bus, he seemed totally mad, Cheryl Cole when she was going out with Ashley Cole, saw them together. I managed to evade Jimmy Saville when he graced us with his presence at my work place. I also avoided several MPs under the same circumstances.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 26/04/2023 08:43

All these whilst living in Toronto
woody Harrelson
Bruce Willis
Jennifer Aniston
Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams (when they were together, saw them all the time)
guy Richie
Sean Penn
jennifer Hudson

there’s a big film festival every year so saw more but can’t think!

PanettoneMoly · 26/04/2023 08:46

Chris Hemsworth, standing outside a hotel. DH spotted him first, couldn’t remember him name so described him as “Captain Kirk’s dad in the new Star Trek film”. Not Thor or anything useful, just “Captain Kirk’s dad”.

Tom Hardy in a pub.

Plus a number of sportspeople & TV stars, past and present but you might have to resort to Google reminders for those.

PanettoneMoly · 26/04/2023 08:48

And Bill Gates at a work event.

knackeredcat · 26/04/2023 08:50

Years ago - Trevor McDonald hurriedly leaving St Pancras with a suit carrier - perhaps in a hurry to get to some news awards ceremony?

GlintingFuriously · 26/04/2023 08:56

Jonathan Ross coming out of a newsagents in Hampstead (early 90s);
Bernie Winters & his dog Schnorbitz on a train on the Isle of Wight when I was a child (one for the older folk among us);
Klaus-Maria Brandauer in a café in Vienna.

Lonelycrab · 26/04/2023 08:59

Saw Nigel Farage a year or so before the referendum in Liverpool st station. Much shorter in real life than I imagined. He’d noticed that I’d seen him, had a smug looking, self important grin on his face. Was contemplating giving him an earful but he was flanked by a couple BNP looking Neanderthals.

Also saw Anisley Harriot at a bus stop outside Charing Cross station. Did a double take in shock (which he saw me do) and flashed me a big cheesy Ainsley grin and a wink which totally made my day!

Jazsimone · 26/04/2023 09:01

Cameron Diaz - she walked past me in NYC, she is very tall.

Keifer Sutherland, I had a bag of Sainsbury's shopping with me. He was filming 24. We spoke.

Isn't he a lovely human being 🥰

LightDrizzle · 26/04/2023 09:05

Graham Norton on two separate occasions in Selfridges. He was very tanned, small and neat.

Jonathan Ross years ago at Alton Towers or Flamingo Land with his family, our paths kept on crossing by chance. I never speak to people I recognise but he was very smiley when we crossed glances. They looked like a happy, fun family.

Jeremy Paxman quite a lot in the 90s. We were waiting to collect daughters from the same school. He quite often did the pick up ; presumably it fitted with Newsnight hours. We would sometimes exchange the usual idle chitchat and he once admired my dog when he spotted him in the back of my car. Very normal and pleasant.

Gordon Ramsey in the Breitling Shop down Bond Street.

A famous, knighted former England manager opened the door for me in Fenwicks, Bond Street last year with a nice smile. I didn’t know who he was and can’t remember his name now but DH recognised him and told me who it was after.

Rio Ferdinand with current wife (then girlfriend) and a big family group in Wildfire Restaurant in Vilamoura. Everyone politely left them alone.

I’ve shared the same pool as Nico Rosberg and been a sun lounger away from Christian Horner at the Ritz Carlton in Singapore. At the same hotel we breakfasted at the next table to Bernie Ecclestone and Chase Carey and others I didn’t recognise and we heard highly confidential conversation about F1 plans that were not public knowledge for some time. I’m amazed they’d talk so openly in a public space. Oh and I was very close to Daniel Riccardo in the same hotel as he exited a lift I was waiting for.

I was awkwardly marooned in a room at Leeds Bradford airport with Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont, both of whose work I liked. They will have been plonked there as slebs, to give them privacy, and I was plonked there to wait for the Ambilift as I was travelling with DD2 who needs a wheelchair. Jon Richardson looked a bit wary I think but not unpleasant at all. He’s probably shy and was scared of being cornered with no escape. Lucy was as you’d expect; very friendly and relaxed. They were flying to Menorca for the first time with their little girl. I had seen Lucy before with their daughter was in a sling and Humber Street Gallery cafe in Hull. Very cute baby. I didn’t speak to her then. It was 2013 which I can hardly believe! Lucy is small, pretty and has lovely skin. On both occasions she had that thrown-together boho cool look which translates to hobo uncool look on me if I attempt it.

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 26/04/2023 09:06

Uma Thurman in central park in 2003 with her child,I'm assuming now was Maya (Robin in stranger things).
The guy who played the landlord in only fools and horses collected his mum from her hair appointment in the hairdressers I worked in.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 26/04/2023 09:09

David Cameron at Oxford Parkway Station (after he'd left Parliament).

Nigel Farage in August 2016 in the passport section of the London German Embassy!

BringItBackBruno · 26/04/2023 09:10

Alan Rickman

Thisbastardcomputer · 26/04/2023 09:11

Britt Eckland got on the plane we were on Los Angeles to London, we were delayed, probably waiting for her, she made an entrance, didn't just get on, then turned left into first.

In a queue at a posh hotel Eddie Jordan was behind me, we chatted a bit and I said how do l know you? He laughed and I said I know you're from our Irish office at work. He then joined the formula one bunch waiting for him, frank williams etc.

Saw Jimmy Saville many times in Scarborough, if I'd known I'd have run him over.

I’ve met Boris.

I'm jealous! Major crush on him! Was he nice? Did he smell good?! Don't judge me, I already judge myself 😂
