cheap stuff is better than posh stuff

Not just better considering it's cheap but you actually think is superior?

I used to buy clothes detergent pods etc, not I use bargain own brand powder and it's great. Likewise own brand washing up liquid I think is better than fairy and co.

Big tubs of hair mask for four quid always seem better than posh conditioner I sometimes buy.

How about you? What are your bargains?

Asda hobnobs are better than real hobnobs. Tesco ones very much are not!

Possiblynotever · 21/04/2023 20:08

The huge pot of CeraVe cream for the body is one of the best rich moisturisers I have found, and I use it on my face. It lasts forever and it works.

Aldi 30 months Parmesan cheese is good.

Danikm151 · 21/04/2023 20:14

Aldi’s teddy faces taste better than pom bears!

PensionPuzzle · 21/04/2023 20:14

Lidl cornflakes are the best out there, in my opinion! They're about 60p a box!

Plump82 · 21/04/2023 20:16

Aldi Q10 face cream was amazing. They've discontinued it and I'll be on the hunt when I run out of my stash I stocked up on!

DanceMonster · 21/04/2023 20:17

Don’t agree on washing up liquid, Fairy lasts far longer than any other brand I’ve tried.
Aldi’s version of Baileys is nicer than normal Baileys.

helpfulperson · 21/04/2023 20:26

I think it varies between products but for me if the choice is one packet of slightly better jaffa cakes or two (or more, especially if it's polish week) packets of cheaper ones I'll go for the cheaper ones.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/04/2023 20:28

Aldi’s Seal bars are much nicer than Penguins.

Charlottewebsbabies · 21/04/2023 20:43

M&s do the best washing up liquid-method and fairy are shite compared to m&s

Aldi jaffa cakes are the bomb

Aldis white chocolate is so much nicer than milkybar

Tesco finest ice cream (my fave is roasted pistachio) is the bees tits
So much nicer than Ben and Jerry's

Aldis dishwasher tablets are better than any other

Asdas own washing power is much better than and other washing powder

Aldis coconut washing liquid is lush-i use it on my bedding and can still smell it days later

Yes! They’re crunchier

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/04/2023 20:56

IKEA kitchen scissors (used to cost £1) are better than the expensive kitchen scissors I bought. I have several pairs for the kitchen and the garden.

LlamasUnited · 21/04/2023 20:58

I actively prefer clothes from cheap shops. I keep trying to buy more expensive stuff like the grown up I am, but it always looks frumpier. It also doesn’t seem to look better for longer . I’ve got great things from New Look etc that I’ve had for years.

LlamasUnited · 21/04/2023 21:00

I also prefer cheaper shoes and bags etc because they tend not to use animal products. Expensive stuff is more likely to be leather / down / wool etc.

spartanrunnergirl · 21/04/2023 21:07

The clothes posts remind me that I really like Zara jumpers over more expensive ones. They wash and wear really well, and I guess I don't feel so precious about them as they are cheaper

Aldi foodie market nut butters. Amazing and nothing added and no palm oil. Even whole earth has palm oil ffs!!

MorrisZapp · 21/04/2023 21:18

Strawberry jam. The cheaper the better.

Multipack crisps, anything over 12p a bag is claggy.

Vosene shampoo. Costs a quid, smells like corporation swimming pools, cleans like nothing else.

They’re fantastic. I don’t bother with anything else now.

EarlGreyAndCucumber · 23/04/2023 16:51

Definitely Lidl Jaffa cakes. Aldi mountain bar is better than toblerone. Aldi part-baked breads are better than any other, and their platinum washing up liquid is better than Fairy.

PollyAmour · 23/04/2023 16:53

Aldi summer fresh fabric conditioner is far better than the branded ones

pinachina · 23/04/2023 17:09

I rarely find a cheaper and better alternative. I am a fan of originals though - eg a standard chocolate eclair is better than the deluxe salted caramel with gold flakes version.

ChequeredPastel · 23/04/2023 17:11

Sausages. Love a cheap sausage.
