Have you been to a place no one else has been to? AGAIN!

Probably doesn't count, but my parents had a thing about taking us on holiday to obscure destinations when I was growing up. East Berlin and other parts of the Soviet Union before the wall came down, and Dubrovnik in 1996, just after the Yugoslavian war ended and the place was still a bit of a bomb-site., to name a few examples. Everyone has been to Dubrovnik now, but back then no one had.

@marcopront that was before the war. More adventurous than now, but when we went the only people we knew who had been went in the 1970s.

@Notasyoungasiwas my grandparents went there. Also Tristan da Cunha. But they travelled a lot for work. When I was young I had ambitions to do the same, but I have to admit I don't really have any desire to now.

I've been inside the Pentagon, too, and Quantico.

I'd be suprised (and delighted) if anyone else has been to Mwlalingo, in the Misuku hills in Malawi.

I went through Checkpoint Charlie in 1976. It was quite intimidating, the whole thing was taken very seriously. And then in to oddly empty-feeling East Berlin, little traffic, no advertising, a dour, scary place.

I'm sorry to say that I have also had to endure that terrible Nessie Museum.

It's one of dc1's favourite places!!!

I haven't been anywhere particularly exciting compared to many on these threads but will try the following:

Inside El Castillo, the main pyramid at Chichen Itza. It was very claustrophobic feeling but fascinating.
Checkpoint Charlie (as a child)
Boa Island to see the Janus Stone (Fermanagh)

I've been to Boa Island and can't remember if I've been inside El Castillo, but I've definitely climbed it. I don't know if they let you any more.

Beit a dine in Lebanon. Walid Jumblatt of the Druze people has a palace there.

I‘ve been to Beitidine, lovely palace and some great Roman mosaics out the back. But did you go to Moussa castle down the road? That‘s utterly bonkers. And Deir al Qamar was a lovely little town nearby too.
