Did you win the first thread? Do you win the prize (which I believe was my respect and admiration)? If the other thread gets to 1000 come here to claim your prize.

Any more places to claim? I'll start, in honour of Pontins Prestatyn....

Gronant
Rhyl
Holywell

The Jolly Topper in Finglas, Dublin. (AKA The Village Inn).

Got fairly closed to being lynched in there one night when the "big fight" between Steve Collins and Chris Eubank was on the big screen. Steve Collins lived about 3 miles away. I, the lone voice, cheered for Chris Eubank. Oops.

Nachingwea, Tanzania
Ulan-Ude, Siberia
Leshan, Sichuan province of China

None of these were my sole destination on the trip - I was either backpacking and these were stop-offs, or in the case of Nachingwea I was working out there.

Bsharre, a small mountain village in Lebanon, it was the birthplace of Khalil Gibran, who wrote ‘The Prophet‘.

Spindleruv Mlyn, a ski resort in northern Czechia, close to Poland. The entire time we were there we didn’t hear any other native English speakers, even though English is used as a lingua franca.

Wernigerode, a small town in the Harz mountains in Germany, lots of wood-framed houses, quite a charming place that is popular with German tourists.

Someone had Ulan-Ude on the last thread.

Are we counting the last thread's places as well? I suppose I have to decide. Umm yes.

I've been to Ulan Ude (as part of a Trans siberian railway journey when I was a student)
