2005 visit there just prior to the TT. Dive is right, but still a good night (from what I can remember 🤣)

Haha! Was that in the red rooms era? I was there 2009-2013ish.

I was of legal drinking age; definitely looked underage though, and was never asked for ID.

Many a good night at the pub quiz too.

Nope @Newname221, I was drinking in Hong Kong by then! My Meadowpark days were the early nineties. There and the Courtyard in Stirling. The Red Room sounds like something out of 50 Shades of Gray.

The Hungry Duck, Moscow. If you know, you know. The only place I've been that later featured on Eurotrash, which should tell you all you need to know.

I don’t know the courtyard I don’t think? I mostly went out in Glasgow to be honest, I only stayed in Stirling a few days per week so only went out in Stirling maybe once a month.

Th Red Rooms was through the back of the hotel, a very small nightclub area (but it did have a light up dance floor!) - all the people from the Highlands and Islands acted like it was an ACTUAL nightclub, whereas all of us Glaswegians were like “awww, bless its little dance floor!”

Being a classy individual I have been to Tuxedo Royale, Majestykx & the club with the swimming pool in Old Street amongst others.... (very few of the posh ones tho)

Me too! I had absolutely no idea and was shocked! I've also never set foot in the place, even though it was there all through my teens. My brother was a regular though.

Rainbow Rocks? To me, that’s a My Little Pony spinoff. I think my era was a bit after yours, I’m only 33.

I only went once or twice. The first time, two 40+ year old English men got very aggressive with my friend and I because we wouldn’t let them buy us drinks. They then made fun of our accents. Our Scottish accents. In a bar in Scotland. Didn’t go down well, let’s just say.

The next time a guy asked me on a date, I reluctantly agreed, and then he cancelled last minute because his girlfriend needed the car. I obviously did not know he had a girlfriend.

Have been to Raffles in Singapore (hats off to anyone who could afford to get drunk in there!) Also been to Joe Banana’s in Wan Chai, Cafe de Paris Monte Carlo, Mantos Manchester, and a surprising number of the Liverpool ones including the Cambridge (but not the Oxford,) and the Aigburth Arms. And Casablanca’s was one of the bars I was going to list - you had to knock on the door to get in. Apparently it’s reopened as a legit bar, which takes all the fun out of it. @MrsTerryPratchett if that was your vintage did you go to Sunnyland Slims as well before it imploded in a free-tequila-induced-puff of smoke?

To the person who went to Lyford Cay Club - lucky you! Looks like an amazing place, I’ve been over it a lot of times (lots of pretty lights!) but never been in.

I’ve been to too many fabulous bars around the world that I have no idea what they were called, only that I had a great time. From the list I can remember I’m going to choose:

1. Shirley Heights Lookout, Antigua.
2. Bubbles O’Learys, Kampala. Messy.
3. The Feather Boa, Hong Kong. Also messy. 🤣 Scary local ladies on the door deciding who can come in.

Honourable mention to The British House, Rio de Janeiro. Was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Only open for a short spell though, and you needed an invite.

I've been to Raffles, as a backpacker. Paid £10 for a Singapore
Sling (back in 2000) and nursed it for three hours. Also a techno club in a shopping centre in Melacca with a spring loaded dancefloor. And a PROPER farmers pub in Perthshire, where I was refused a full pint and had to have a half 'because you're a lady' 🙄

From the recent adds to the thread, I can also count such diverse bars as the hotel bar at the Ole Sereni, Nairobi (was the old airline crew hotel) and the Haworth Arms Hull. I get around a bit. 🤣
