I’d love to visit the Whitsundays too! However I have been to Caracas and Bogotá.

I have one free pass and you can have it.

Mind you go at some point though.

I have been driven across the Kyber pass from Pakistan to Afghanistan. Long time ago and don’t remember it but does it count?

I’ve been to Cape Horn island , tip of South America. We were able to land because the waters were calm and walk up to the lighthouse and meet the Chilean family living there. Magical!

I’ve been to the Whitsundays, Heron Island, Great Keppel island, Lady Elliot Island and Hayman Island in QLD. That’s what a year of working in QLD with no bills and no dependents will do for you

Ive also been to Rottnest (oh God the flies), Kangaroo island, and the Melbourne Cup.

My most obscure place in Australia is Cameron Corner, where the borders of NSW, SA and QLD meet. I got there by flying to Tibooburra with the flying doctors and then driving off road in the medics’ 4WD for over an hour to see my patient. Wildest home visit I’ve ever done.

Unusual but still tourist places I have been:

Petra and the Wadi Rum in Jordan - simply amazing!

Varosha - the (until recently!) sealed off part of Famagusta in Northern Cyprus - fans of Victoria Hislop’s ‘the sunrise’ will recognise it.

Masada in Israel. Interesting but the hottest I’ve ever been in my life!

How specific a location? I've been to the maharajah's palace at Jaipur, inside the royal suites. Very surreal and uncomfortable. The security guards had huge guns and wore dark sunglasses.

I climbed Masada to see the sunrise. Got overheated and vomited everywhere. Pretty place.

Where would be the fun in that?
