Have you been to a place no one else has been to?

I'll start. The idea is you name the place and a fellow MNer has to say if they've been there. However, you don't have to wait until you've been somewhere to post. Post your places and you'll meet the MNers who've been there. You can post 1-3 places (random numbers).

I've been to:

Rwanda
The Whisundays
Cathedral Grove (Vancouver Island)

How about Thingvellir, Iceland? Or Kaunaoa Bay, Hawaï? Or even Antalya, Turkey.

I've been to Antalya Turkey on a school cruise: SS Uganda

cheapskatemum · 08/04/2023 21:56

I don't think anyone else has said they've been to Treichville. It's in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

I’ve been to Antalya.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/04/2023 22:47

@MaryBoggintonTrotterSmyke me, too! 🤫 Walked around old PR and managed to find and bring home PR coffee!!! 😛😛😛
@Andylion Sunny and chilly for you there! I love those days. ☺️

I'm still standing with Maui! 😅 (Really???) 🤔
I also can't believe no one has posted Tokyo - which was great, btw!

aLittleWhiteHorse · 08/04/2023 22:48

Off the prior listed places I’ve been to Évora in Portugal, Bundaberg, Cape Trib, Youghal, innisboffin, Achill Island, Cape Clear Island, Co Cork, and Orcas Island WA, Martha’s Vineyard, Colonial Williamsburg, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Alcatraz, Phillip Island and Lorne near Melbourne, Katoomba NSW, Corcovado Nat Park in Costa Rica, among others, and I used to live in Noe Valley SF which someone mentioned.

I have been to Queensland several times and never actually made it to the Whitsundays lol!

Been to all your USA locations @mumtobabyhavoc except Montana. And @yodaforpresident
I have also been to Pismo Beach and SLO as I’ve often driven up and down Highway 1! Miss it now I live back in the U.K.

I also took the train through old Yugoslavia from Munich en route to Athens. It was 2 days in a non-sleeper carriage … I expect it was pretty cheap.

Mine are:
Verona, Virginia USA
Todos Santos, Mexico
Nananu-I-ra island, Fiji

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/04/2023 23:16

@aLittleWhiteHorse my list and add-ons lasted a lot longer than I anticipated! No one has said Tokyo so far though ...

Your list is so interesting! I love travelling and hearing about it from others. ☺️

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 08/04/2023 23:48

@Toomanylosthours - my parents lived in Takaradi in Ghana about 50 years ago.

TragicMuse · 08/04/2023 23:54

Sorry @TedMullins I've been to Tromso!

Also been to Pingvellir and done the standing on two continental plates thing!

I've been to Petra and Wadi Rum too. And Kanyakumari.

My offerings are:

Cetara in Southern Italy. My favourite village along that bit of coast.

Meganissi, a tiny Greek island.

Egilsstadir, Iceland.

Tokeh beach, just outside Freetown in Sierra Leone. One of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches I’ve ever been to, it’s where they filmed the Bounty adverts in the 80s, before the civil war and Ebola.

Bundaberg in Queensland, where they make the most brain-blowing rum.

Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia, where we were given a tour of the gold mine vaults - each of the brick-size bars of gold stacked in there were worth more than my house at the time.

I was practically weaned on Bundy rum. Those polar bears do know how to have a good time.... (Have been a number of times!)

I think the only one of mine still standing is Boigu Island, which is the most northerly inhabited Australian island. It's closer to PNG than it is to even Thursday Island which was pretty mind blowing.

This is such a superb thread, so many places I'd like to go!

An 11th hour claim. 🤦‍♀️ Did you love it? I'd go back in a heartbeat. 😀

I’ve been three times, I did like it, it’s a really nice city with plenty to do, the last time we went was for the rugby world cup, so admittedly that time we didn’t really see a great deal of Tokyo as we were travelling around to attend games.

Its a lovely place, locals are friendly and very safe feeling.

I'm very envious of those who have been to Rwanda And DRC.

Anyone looking for something different, can recommend Hampi for a couple of days away from Goa

JaneFondue · 09/04/2023 07:25

Been to Hampi.

Lived in Tokyo.

ettieb · 09/04/2023 07:35

I've been to Squamish!

ettieb · 09/04/2023 07:36

Albania

prettybird · 09/04/2023 08:55

@TragicMuse - we've been to Meganisi many times. Love it: Greece like it used to be. Smile

We used to stay in Hotel Meganisi in Katomeri.

Lovegossip · 09/04/2023 12:02

Also when I was a kid, one of my aunts lived in Southbourne in Bournemouth right be the sea

We used to visit Hengistbury Head if anyone has been there?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2023 12:32

@ettieb me, too Squamish. Whistler as well, I assume? Four of us, I think, for Albania. 😊

prettybird · 09/04/2023 12:43

I went through Albania when interrailing, getting from Italy to Greece, via Yugoslavia. It was still a closed country though, so we couldn't get off the train.

aLittleWhiteHorse · 09/04/2023 13:32

@mumtobabyhavoc thank you! My worldwide travels were severely curtailed by motherhood but now they’re older I’m hoping to get a little further afield once more.

Andylion · 09/04/2023 14:09

Mytilene. Lesbos.
I haven’t seen it yet, (I don’t think), but I am sure someone must have been there. The UK is much closer to it than I am.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/04/2023 15:12

Mytilene. Lesbos.

Yep. Passed through on my way to Molyvos/Mithymna.
