Have you been to a place no one else has been to?

I'll start. The idea is you name the place and a fellow MNer has to say if they've been there. However, you don't have to wait until you've been somewhere to post. Post your places and you'll meet the MNers who've been there. You can post 1-3 places (random numbers).

I've been to:

Rwanda
The Whisundays
Cathedral Grove (Vancouver Island)

I noticed someone else has been to Kamloops. We did that on the Rocky Mountaineer train last year.

Philip Island Near Melbourne anyone?

I also said Kamloops. It's was a stop on the backpackers' bus trip I did about 20 years ago! I loved everywhere we went in BC, would love to go back one day.

The pies are named after the port of Fray Bentos where the meat originally came from.

I also like that there's a place called Tabasco, presumably where the sauce originates from.

I've not been to either of them but I'm still hanging on with my top of TV tower entry.

I’ve got a passport stamp that says Tabasco 😁🌶️ We crossed the border into Guatemala from there.

I mentioned Kamloops; we spent the night there when driving from Jasper to Vancouver about 4 years ago. Not on the Rocky Mountaineer alas.

Arapawa I had a boyfriend who lived in Penguin. Ironically they developed the waterfront there for visitors destroying the fairy penguins' nesting sites.

I've also been to Chichen Itza.

Other adds:
Valladoilid Yucatan
Husafell Iceland
Briny Island Tasmania

I've been to Katoomba. Saw INXS (with Michael Hutchence) play at the open air concert area many years ago.

I'm telling lies. It was Kuranda that INXS played at. I have been to Katoomba though...they celebrate "xmas" in the middle of June I remember..decorations all up and feels cold up there.

I'm glad everyone's been to the Whitsundays, they're so beautiful.

I've been to San Salvador (not recommended unless you want to buy a gun or launder money).
Ocotal in Nicaragua
Broken Hill Australia

Azure · 06/04/2023 14:36

Sorry, also been to Phillip Island, Colonial Williamsburg and Montevideo.

LarkDescending · 06/04/2023 14:36

I’ve also gone to (through?) Kamloops on the Rocky Mountaineer, and went to Colonial Williamsburg with my parents many years ago.

Two of my three have been claimed, so I’ll top up with two which are more random than exotic:

Yankton, South Dakota
Nanyuki, Kenya

@Anonymouslyposting the Eagle hunters were amazing! We went to a festival there so got to watch the eagle trials, camel races and horseback tug-of-war with a dead goat etc.

So, so jealous!

MrsHamlet · 06/04/2023 14:43

@BaublesAndGlitter Dawson City, home of the Sour Toe Cocktail? Yep.

Pigeon Forge, TN. Home of Dollywood.
Wawa, Ontario. Home of the Wawa goose.

midsomermurderess · 06/04/2023 14:44

I‘ve been to Barra. The best bit was the plane landing on the beach and a decent Indian meal at Cafe Kisimul. Some pretty beaches which looked lovely in the sun, but the harling-fronted houses didn’t add to the charm. And a big alcohol problem apparently. Also a trip to Mingulay: cue the Mingulay Boat Song as an ear worm.

Anonymouslyposting · 06/04/2023 14:47

I don’t think anyone has claimed mine yet (Pingyao, Tasilaq, Kong Lor and Rangitukia)…

finished31 · 06/04/2023 14:49

Philip Island - Australia
Banks of River Murray - Australia
Some dodgy like hut in Antigua that had the best beer ever!

ConsumedByCake · 06/04/2023 14:51

Xishuangbanna

mrswhiplington · 06/04/2023 14:55

Mustique and the Grenadines in the Carribbean.

Tarkan · 06/04/2023 14:55

@BaublesAndGlitter - going for the beer would be a great excuse to go back to Juneau to be fair. Grin I'm dying to go back but it's not a cheap trip, I was actually staying with a friend but even then my flights were a couple of thousand. I actually really want to go back simply for the cheese enchiladas at El Sombrero restaurant. I honestly dream of them still and it's a decade since I was there. The scenery and wildlife is wonderful as well of course but those enchiladas were SO good.

CrepuscularCritter · 06/04/2023 12:09

Yes to the Whitsundays, Kangaroo Island, the Rift Valley and Lundy.

Roswell, New Mexico

Not Roswell but Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
John Steinbeck's House, Salinas
Base of the Grand Canyon, by mule!
