Have you been to a place no one else has been to?

I'll start. The idea is you name the place and a fellow MNer has to say if they've been there. However, you don't have to wait until you've been somewhere to post. Post your places and you'll meet the MNers who've been there. You can post 1-3 places (random numbers).

I've been to:

Rwanda
The Whisundays
Cathedral Grove (Vancouver Island)

@zoopigi That’s amazing! (Hmmm…are you my sister?). We stayed there in 1980 or 1981. Neither the hotel nor the beach was anything to write home about!

You would know if I was your sister by my name :) the hotel we stayed at had a piano in the middle of a pond in the lobby, with little stepping stones to get there.

I think Hobbiton is the only place I've been to so far 🙈

I did grow up looking out to sea at Sealand though! You're not a pirate by any chance @RawBloomers ?

My three places are closer to home:

  1. Villach, Austria
  2. Thorpeness, Suffolk
  3. Lundy Island
Eggseggseverywhere · 06/04/2023 08:44

Keep it to 3, people. I’ve got a list of places as long as your arm - I have been very luck in my life to have been to a lot of amazing places and seen a lot of amazing things. I could post at length here! 🤣

However, my shortlist of 3 is:

Bujagali Falls, Uganda.
Shymbulak ski resort, Kazakhstan.
The Stables, Badminton House (during Badminton Horse Trials. A very special opportunity!)

@Improbablecat I’ve been on top of Gros Piton too. Sorry!

Sorry, but I've been to the Stables at Badminton too! And I've been walked round the course at the Horse Trials by a medal winner, a few years ago, can't remember their name.

I only did one, so here is my 3

Tristan Da Cunha (remotest inhabited island in the world)
Dravuni (French polynesia, only 250 inhabitants) heaven on earth
Easo, Lifou, new Caledonia

Almaty in Kazakhstan, it was lovely and Bishkek is Kyrgyzstan both fascinating places.

I've been to Magnetic Island, but not Rwanda.

I've been to Bishkek and Almaty. Also went to Nur Sultan which is a very very striking place.

@MumofSpud - I’ve been to Yulin and the DMZ, didn’t manage to get my foot into North Korea though - you may be on to a winner there!

Cornishmumofone · 06/04/2023 08:49

I can't remember who mentioned them, but I've been to Pendeen and Mount Isa.

LynetteScavo · 06/04/2023 08:49

ShanghaiDiva · 06/04/2023 08:49

MumofSpud · 06/04/2023 08:20

Yulin, Guangxi Province, China

shutupppp · 06/04/2023 08:50

Mississauga.

I'll be interested to know if anyone's been there, just that back here In the UK I met someone from there who was astonished anyone had ever heard of it or been there.

BridieConvert · 06/04/2023 08:50

Justcallmebebes · 06/04/2023 08:20

No ones got any of my 3 😁

Still got 2 pages to read, but none of mine so far either!

Flumpaphone · 06/04/2023 08:02

7 miles out under the North Sea (1.5km down)
Dyersburg Tennessee
The very Southern tip of India (where there is a mahooooosive statue

Never been to the top of Emley Moor Mast though, but I could see it from my bedroom window when I was little

I call bullshit on the first one, it's 700 m at it's deepest, so unless you've drilled into the earth's crust?

I'm still in the running with the top of the Emley Moor tower.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads It certainly was an experience. As well as the view, I don't what was most terrifying during the 7 minute ride up in the very cramped and noisy lift. The part where our host told the story of how it was the second tower because the first one collapsed, or discussion of the emergency procedures and the reminder of the disclaimer we'd all signed to say that if the lift broke down, we'd climb out of the emergency hatch at the top and climb down the escape ladder..... Shock

@ShanghaiDiva what was Xinjiang like? It’s been on my list for years.

I think no one has been to my three yet…

PolkaDotMankini · 06/04/2023 08:56

@Mumtobabyhavoc I've been to Las Vegas. Only for a flight connection though.
@Elise72 I've been to Pretoria. The taxi driver got lost taking me to my hotel and I thought I was being kidnapped!
@Badknitter I've been up to the summit of Mt Snowdon. Most recently on the train with small DC. I've done the climb properly several times though.
@crumpet I've spent a night in Guilin before taking the river cruise to Yangshuo. Absolutely stunning scenery.
@marcopront I've been to Leon, Nicaragua. Not quite the hottest I've ever been in my life but definitely up there.

My three offerings:

  • Troy, New York state. Stayed in a very dodgy hotel where the receptionist had never seen a passport before and there were mice at the breakfast buffet.
  • Prato, Italy.
  • The summit of Mt Qingcheng near Chengdu, China. It's the mountain from Kung Fu Panda 😁We walked up but saw some people being carried up on chairs. There are about a billion steps but the view is worth it.
marcopront · 06/04/2023 09:00

@Pouffeycat

Another one for Rarotonga

DisplayPurposesOnly · 06/04/2023 09:03
