@IWanderedLonely

I think those knitted things are lovely! However one female journo was scathing about them. God knows why? Not harming anyone and brings a smile to my face anyway!

Deathraystare · 11/04/2023 17:19

@halfpasteleven

That will teach me to speed read, I thought you were in bed with the milkman!!!

Deathraystare · 11/04/2023 17:20

@Silkierabbit

Wow your holiday looked fab!

bizzey · 11/04/2023 18:20

Just catching up with everyone 's lovey news.
And getting hungry with everyone's cooking skills !

I had a lovely weekend with no DC's .
Glorious weather, windows all open ,Alexa playing my music on loud ..
( neighbours away !)
and ...cleaned all the grouting in the bathroom 🤣🤣!
And spring cleaned all the rooms behind beds and stuff.

It was lovely doing it with no one around ,as I didn't have to put myself on a time limit to get it ship shape and tidy before they needed. beds or showers!!

Amazing how blue skies can spur on the cleaning mood !!

bizzey · 11/04/2023 18:22

Going away tomorrow with DC's for a couple of days .

Frozen pizza tonight as I don't want to cook and dirty the kitchen !

Need to re think my clothing that I was planning on wearing as weather is not looking good !

HelenaJustina · 11/04/2023 21:58

Away for a night with DH for his birthday. We did an 8 mile walk/hike and didn’t get rained on at all. We’ve been out for a really lovely meal this evening and are now listening to the wind howling outside the hotel.

MissConductUS · 11/04/2023 22:45

Welcome, @AussieKoala01, and thank for sharing your Easter holiday news. How bad was the house when you returned? I have some relatives who I would never let housesit for us.

Iwandered, it was I who first mentioned the knitted postbox decorations. I read online that there was a rash of thefts of them. Unless there's an active resale market for them I can't imagine why people would nick them.

bizzey, well done on your spring cleaning frenzy. Where are you going away to?

DH tested the central air conditioning last night and found it wasn't working, so he's rebooked the bloke to service it for Thursday morning. He'll have to work from home for that. I hope they don't tell us it needs replacing. We're a bit stretched paying for DD's last year of uni.

@MissConductUS you are so good at following everyone's stories and commenting 💐💐.

The boys and I are off to Southampton tomorrow.
Museum with Titanic experience thing and then to see the Titanic musical in the evening.

DS3 and I are booked into a cheap place and the other 2 are back to big boys little bedsit .

Looks like I am going to be wearing my winter longish coat instead of my spring jacket I had planned !

Miserable weather here !
Still ....the hotel have a 2-4-1 on the cocktails while we are there !!🤣.

Catsmere · 12/04/2023 00:05

Today’s dull news (matches the weather) - I got up in time to nab two of the machines at the communal laundry, so the clothes are washed and safely in the dryer.

bizzey · 12/04/2023 00:24

Catsmere yeah !! Result !
I have had to use my dryer today as well .
Otherwise it would have meant putting the radiators on to dry stuff.

AKA ...the heating...which is stupid in April!

bizzey · 12/04/2023 00:24

It is miserable...but but that cold .

Catsmere · 12/04/2023 02:57

It was definitely doing a tryout for winter this morning, then we had a bit of sun and clear sky, now it’s all clouded over again. Still I’d rather early winter than late summer, although it sends my heating bill soaring. At least it doesn’t cost anything to use the laundry, it’s part of the village facilities. Which is just as well, because the clothes lines here are too small to hang more than a few shirts and pants on, and as for sheets, forget it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/04/2023 03:21

Well, the local ski hills closed over the weekend and we now have fresh snow I can see. 🤦‍♀️

AussieKoala01 · 12/04/2023 07:23

@MissConductUS thankyou! They've mostly taken it upon themselves to rearrange things, which is annoying because i spent the week beforehand laying out and organising everything i thought they would need. The house was immaculate for them! But instead of a quick tidy up once i got back, i'm stuck putting alot of things back were they should be and cleaning messes they should have done themselves.
They have also made it obvious that they have nosied were they really didn't need to be, including our room. Which I was slightly prepared for but now they've done it i'm uncomfortable with.

HelenaJustina · 12/04/2023 15:09

The cinema chat inspired me. We got back from our night away and I whisked the DC to a local cinema to see some animated film of which I’d never heard. I need to put fuel in the car on the way home, so we may stop for McFlurrys as well. I’m rewarding them for being so good while we were gone!

Weather is super hit and miss, deluges followed by bright sunshine, and so windy!

Silkierabbit · 12/04/2023 16:03

And we have a discharge date provisionally 27th April and home leave today to Saturday 15th and home leave Monday 17th to 27th April. 🙀We can take DS to France when off discharge.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/04/2023 16:09

Good morning all. 😎☀️ It's a beautiful spring morning here on the west coast. Sunny and 3c and supposed to go up to 12c. I love days like this. Currently having my morning latte with a sprinkle of nutmeg. Yummmm. Does anyone else add nutmeg? If you are going to try it be careful. Too much will taste like soap and ruin your coffee experience. I also do cinnamon or a mix of both.
I'm also bemoaning the impending loss of my view of the mountains due to the high-rise apartment buildings being built. I've enjoyed an unobstructed view of our mountain range from Mt. Seymour to the Lions for ages.

@HelenaJustina what a great day with your DC! Sounds fun. ☺️
@AussieKoala01 sounds a bit stressful to come home to and like you might need to clear the air - or change course in future? 😬

Silkierabbit · 12/04/2023 16:11

Glad you had a good trip Helena

Thanks Death and Math you were right about wanting discharge.

Floof is now curled up on my bed, eating constantly wears you out. He's so trilly especially with a tail compliment or if you call him pretty boy.

Hope you are recovering OK from chemo Prok

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 12/04/2023 17:19

My life has got less boring - am currently on the L into Chicago. Going to browse Michigan Ave. I’m in a summer dress. It’s all very exciting :-)

HelenaJustina · 12/04/2023 17:56

A summer dress?! Actual photo out of my car window… it is 7 degrees Celsius.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 25: Calmly through the day
MissConductUS · 12/04/2023 19:26

Helena, it is 26C in Chicago this afternoon, and the same temp here in NY. The L that ZZ is referring to is the elevated train system in Chicago. Much of it is above ground.

Tomorrow is going to be even hotter than today. I hope the AC gets fixed when the technician comes tomorrow.

It's all moving in the right direction Silkie x

AussieKoala01 · 12/04/2023 23:19

@Mumtobabyhavoc what a lovely morning you are having! I'm intrigued about the nutmeg in coffee, I'll try some on the weekend! It's such a shame about the high rise buildings and the mountain view though 😞
DH has had a chat to them, there was no argument thankfully and the air is clear xx

Silkierabbit · 13/04/2023 03:44

Thanks Half We are so happy to have discharge date and also it's basically extended home leave from now just two nights more and that's partly baby sitting as we have a dinner and we are not allowed to leave ds ever under the section. Though nervous about doing it after too.

MissConductUS · 13/04/2023 15:16

That's great news about your son's discharge plan, Silkie. What a nightmare, though for everyone concerned, especially your son.

Mum, adding a bit of nutmeg to coffee is not unusual here. Nutmeg was a big cash crop in colonial-era New England. It's also good for you. Nutmeg is a potent antioxidant. I use 1/4 teaspoon for an 8-ounce cup of coffee.

DH ran the AC last night, and it seemed to work fine, which may be down to the fact that it was much cooler when he tested it Monday night. We're forecast to break the record today with temps over 32C. It was 29C here yesterday. The HVAC tech has come and gone, and everything seems to be working.
