@Prokupatuscrakedatus, hoping you're OK.

EchoBelly you must be feeling pretty tired after such a busy time. Hope your seder was wonderful.

Wishing everyone on the thread a happy Easter.
I spent the day doing a lot of tidying and laundry, and then DD4 and I raided the candy section of the supermarket, which was a zoo. We're making bread machine cinnamon roll dough later and will bake them tomorrow first thing, after they rise overnight. Thank goodness for the bread machine.

I'm picking up DD3 from the airport later. She's been looking at the other city where she was accepted into grad school. By the sound of things, she liked it a lot.

There are lots of daffodils blooming, and grape hyacinths all over many lawns. We were able to open windows today for the first time in ages.

HelenaJustina · 09/04/2023 07:48

Happy Easter everyone, Alleluia! Got back at 11pm last night from a beautiful Easter vigil Mass, and up to go to the 9am Mass this morning with the DC who were too young to go last night. Hope you all have a lovely day.

Echobelly · 09/04/2023 09:53

@Mumtobabyhavoc - DH actually did most of the cooking this year. Made an amazing chicken soup for both nights, and a salmon stew for second. I was working both days, so I just prepped and put on the roast chickens the first night.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2023 21:42

@Echobelly sounds delicious! Have I mention, as you're new, that I love food? (I'm also an excellent guest.) 😁

I can report brunch has gone well here! I made an asparagus, crap and ricotta omelette and the pistachio bread pudding turned out!!!
😁😁😁😁
If anyone is interested:
I cut up about 5 large croissants (costco, so huge) and spread a bit of pistachio spread on each piece, placed in a buttered baking dish and poured over an egg/whipping cream mixture with a bit of vanilla and sugar mixed in. I let it stand on the counter for a few hours (while I vacuumed and tidied)then sprinkled the top with decorating sugar for fun and baked at 350f for about 20 mins. I then sprinkled white choc chips all over the top and placed some fresh raspberries on as well. Back in the oven about 15 mins. I used a glass dish so I just check the bottom has browned and it's puffed on top. More fresh berries on the side.
I do a nearly identical version with Nutella for Christmas morning, but wanted to try pistachio spread after coming across a youtube cooking video where the chef raved about it.
(The lengthy post and detail should win me the dull prize today.)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2023 21:43

😂😂😂😂😂crab, not crap! I swear!!!

Silkierabbit · 09/04/2023 22:12

That's lovely Havoc had his first Easter egg hunt Havoc

Floof was very silly today and jumped on my headrest for the bed knocking over DH's bedside table enroute as his jump was so strong. He then gave his best it wasn't me look then after a minute suddenly seemed to realise it was obvious it was him and made a mad dash for it.

Just a quiet day with DS and DH had a nice roast pork dinner with chocolate chip bread and butter pudding. Hoovered upstairs and cleaned my bedroom window and had a bath. DD is working on the punts, she dropped her phone in the river so is getting a new iphone 11.

Silkierabbit · 09/04/2023 22:14

In competition for the dullest post also washed my bedding and changed from a fleece duvet and fleece sheet to a fleece sheet and cotton bird duvet. The duvet matches the curtains.

Pudding sounds delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc

Something I'd like to try- I love pistachios in any form!

Happy Easter to one and all- I hope you all enjoyed today. And if you didn't, sure it's only one day.

Also sending good wishes your way Prok.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/04/2023 03:49

Thanks @halfpasteleven 😊 I think pistachio spread is my new favourite. I was tempted to use it in dessert, but thought that would be overkill fir one day (besides, I can always take a spoonful later!). 🤔 I had a sheet of puff pastry so I've made turnovers with jam, berries and a few choc chips. Waiting for them to bake now. 😛

I hope everyone had a good day today. 💖

Lemonsandlemonade · 10/04/2023 07:55

MissC my DS will be 2 in June.

Glad you enjoyed Mass Helena.

Sounds Yummy Havoc

Sorry about your DDs phone Silkie and glad your DS was home at Easter. I look forward to the post when you say he is home home.

We had a lovely lamb roast and egg hunt at my mums.

Echobelly · 10/04/2023 12:31

My last day off before it's back to work. Going to see Dungeons & Dragons film with DS and DH this afternoon as it's had surprisingly good reviews and I haven't been to the cinema for ages. I splashed out on booking the nice 'boutique' cinema - it's literally twice the price of the multiplex down the road, but when DH asked why I wanted to go there, I said I don't go to the cinema all that often so some of the time I want to go to the fancy one with the sofa seats and drinks service if I'm going to bother, plus I'd like to support it and keep it open as it's great to have something like that nearby.

You had me worried!!! Still each to their own!!!

Deathraystare · 10/04/2023 14:57

@Echobelly

Enjoy the cinema! I hope to see the film soon myself.

Our local cinema/theatre/art place is in trouble financially which is a big bloody shame!

MissConductUS · 10/04/2023 15:59

A few months ago it was announced that our local multiplex was closing. But I drove past it last weekend and they still had current film titles on the marquee, so I don't know what to think. I haven't been to the cinema in ages either.

We're expecting temps around 26C later this week. I hope the air conditioning is working. DH has booked the annual service for the 20th and changed the filter.

DS is still doing a lot of overtime and had to work for a few hours yesterday. He thinks it will lighten up soon.

The Miele did not have the error at all over the weekend, despite numerous loads of washing being done. I'm glad we didn't buy a replacement.

Easter dinner was fab, and we have enough leftover ham and potatoes au gratin for another meal.

Glad people had good Easters.

We are just about to take DS back to hospital, but get him again from Wed to Sat may try and negotiate Tues to Sat. We stay overnight at holiday inn so can go swimming tonight and tomorrow am. I wish we had him home permanently.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/04/2023 16:31

I'm sitting here enjoying a large slice of choc chip banana bread that I made on Good Friday and a cafe latte, which I managed to make in the perfect ratio and temp with a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg sprinkled on top. 😋
...and Havoc is still asleep!!!!
I've been able to sit and relax after putting laundry in, putting Havoc's brekkie together, and making my coffee. This is a first!!!!
😁😁😁😁😁😆😁😁😁😁😁😁

After a very rainy weekend it's still cloudy but not supposed to rain, so planning to take Havoc for a kiddie train ride later as it opened for the season this weekend and then play at the nearby park.
I made coq au vin for dinner last night in my cheffy enamled cast iron pot...then forgot and left it overnight forgetting to put it in fridge when cleaning up. Is it crawling in bacteria that will kill us or can I reheat it thoroughly? 🤷‍♀️

death, lovely to see you here again. tbf, some meals have been crap, but I'd never actually use crap...creative as I may be. 🤣
btw, the travel thread is now a pub thread and easily found.
silkie, slow and steady progress sound like. I won't say more so as not to jinx. 🤞💖
ms 26c?! Sunscreen time!! 😎
echo, sounds swanky! I'd be tempted to get quite ott dressed up for fun (I don't get out much, obv). 😹

mathanxiety · 10/04/2023 16:51

Silkies fingers crossed it won't be long now. Glad DS was home for Easter.

We had the traditional roast lamb with garlic and rosemary, roast potatoes, various veg including asparagus, and gravy and were still able for a slice of lemon meringue pie later. I made mint sauce as my potted mint has thrived in the sunny dining room window over the winter.

In gardening news, I brought my Boston ferns out to the deck as the coming week will see night time temperatures well above freezing.

IWanderedLonely · 10/04/2023 19:40

Belated Happy Easter all. We've been away in the camper van. Managed to swim in the sea twice (took my feet ages to warm up though).
Had to put the heating on this evening though.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/04/2023 20:11

@mathanxiety your dinner sounds heavenly! Yum, yum and yum! 😋How long did it take to put it all together? How many did you cook for?
@IWanderedLonely ocean swimming already? I'm a year-round outdoors person, but you're tougher than me by a long shot!
We have a Polar Bear swim here every Jan 1st. I've done it once. 🥶

Silkierabbit · 11/04/2023 02:35

Lovely meal Math

Hope train ride was fun Havoc

Ocean swimming sounds wonderful Iwandered and brave this time of year.

We are at hotel having returned DS but get him back on Wednesday to Saturday. Went swimming and did 100 lengths with DH but it’s just 15 metre pool. Was full of kids at start so had to weave around them though at 7pm they pretty much all left and had half pool to ourselves for 45 mins then. Went in steam room. Jacuzzi is broken. Had meal here, I had steak sandwich. They gave us free drinks and free chocolate.

I woke up this morning to Floof snuggled up to me and he trilled when I woke.

mathanxiety · 11/04/2023 02:49

@Mumtobabyhavoc - DS was in charge of the meat and potatoes, and I did the veg, gravy, and pie. DS also did a huge breakfast of fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs. There were four of us, and we have lots of leftovers. It's the best part of holiday meals imo.

Silkies it sounds as if they are washing their hands of DS without actually saying so officially. It might well be that the scenario of a cast of thousands of official visitors scheduled to come traipsing through your home to check on DS and nobody showing up in the end might come about.

Hats off to you for your dedication to swimming - and to you too, IWandered. My mother has photos of me looking blue lipped and blotchy after swimming in the Irish Sea as a child, and I can still remember the chattering teeth. And that was high summer.

AussieKoala01 · 11/04/2023 02:56

We had a lovely Easter away & the day after we arrived home, we celebrated DS birthday with family.
While we were away, my MIL & SIL stayed at our house to keep an eye on it, so now... I'm (very) slowly trying to put the house back together and enjoy the peace and quite..

IWanderedLonely · 11/04/2023 07:41

Also saw these while away, can't remember who mentioned them a while back.

@mathanxiety how nice of your DS! It sounds like a great meal and lovely day. ☺️

I'm finishing my latte, going to hang some laundry that just finished and then off to take Havoc to swim lesson.
