Sprouts, those are lovely bird pictures and a beautiful setting as well. Good luck with your exam and assignment.

Helena, it's getting hot here too. It's certainly starting to feel like summer.

Silkie, I had to google mint coronettos. They look delicious. Eating six of them is impressive. I'm surprised you're making a roast dinner when it's so hot out. We're cooking out tonight, as the rain seems to have gone from the forecast. Making pizza was our backup plan.

DD is just back from church and some shopping. DS, DH, and I went cherry-picking. We arrived at 9;30 and it was not busy at all, but quite busy when we left an hour or so later. There was no apple bread in the farm store, but we did manage to get some banana bread with chocolate chips, donuts, strawberries and blueberries. I'll whip some cream tonight and we'll have berries on desert shells after dinner.

There were two very large turkeys in the yard when we got home, but they fled before I could get a picture.

Hope you have managed to get assignment done Helena.

Hope your DS engages Silkie as it sounds an ok fit. wow 6 Cornetto that’s impressive!!

Took DS to theatre today to see a favourite CBeebies person, he loved it but was overwhelmed and quiet to start.

mathanxiety · 26/06/2023 00:25

DD4 and I synced our phones with the creepy AI washing machine in the basement. The whole operation took about 35 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, but it's nice to have it done. I downloaded a wool wash program, which will be handy when the autumn comes.

DD3 has inherited DS's nice mattress, and we spent a while taking her old one off her bed and putting the new one on. Mattresses have a mind of their own.

A front passed through with a lot of thunder, lightning, and rain overnight, followed by gusty winds today that resulted in a lot of smaller branches and green leaves all over the streets. Dcat spent the night crouched behind the loo, where she always goes when there's thunder.

Helena well done on the assignment front.

MissC is that a delicious banana bread loaf I spy in your photo?

Lovely photos Sprouts. Did you get up close to the swan or zoom in?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/06/2023 05:36

Hello lovelies. 😊
I called GP on Friday re illness 7 weeks. Booked in for tomorrow. Planning on taking Havoc with me as DC was coughing from running today. Same deep dry cough as me.

Was wiped from afternoon out so picked up a Costco rotisserie chicken and then sautéed asparagus, boiled some new potatoes and loaded them with butter and sour cream, and made a tomato/cucumber/pecorino salad for dinner. Had cherries and strawberries for dessert. Felt very summery. 😊

Havoc tried a California roll today and fresh cherries for the first time saying, Yum yum to the cherries 🥰

silkie, I looove lemon tarts...and lemon pie and lemon cake! I should really make a lemon custard soon. I have a 1940's cook book with a great recipe I rely on.
miss, thanks for the cherry inspiration. I made a point of looking for cherries today! 😋

Fading fast, so heading to bed. Night everyone. 🤧😮‍💨😴🥱

bizzey · 26/06/2023 14:14

MUM ..hope the GP appointment goes well...well what I mean is ..hope you get some results that will help you get better.

You dinner sounds lovely!

If I was feeling ill mine would have been the chicken and some bags of flavoured microwave rice 😂!

Up at my DM's at the moment as my washing machine has decided not to spin anymore 😭😭...so sitting in her lovely garden with my washing in her machine !!

It packed up last night with ds's brand new expensive t-shirt in it .

I squeezed it in a towel and let it drip dry on the line over night 😂😂!

For once I was grateful for a warm muggy night !!

sproutsandparsnips · 26/06/2023 22:50

Bizzey have you tried cleaning out the filter? That was the problem when mine stopped spinning.
Sounds delicious Mum!
Helena not submitting for a few weeks but need to revise for exam in between and pack for holiday to Canada/Alaska straight after! Glad you sorted yours.
Thank you Miss!
Math it was close up from canal bank.

Silkierabbit · 26/06/2023 23:04

Lovely fruit and banana bread MissC

Really hope doctor helps Havoc

Sprouts Canada / Alaska sounds wonderful

Bizzey Hope you can get washing machine working again, definitely worth clearing filters if not done that.

Busy day re DS today. Head confirmed time for visit next week after school. Then 2 meetings with wider teams, have at least got these merged and at least now they largely follow my plan since theirs failed.

Then cahms home treatment team visited and DS let them see him for first time, only 5 minutes but progress.

Then couple of follow up calls.

DH had piano lesson.

I told DS about school visit and stayed calm which is good. Eating and drinking well. Cahms think visit is too early but school want that date so said we will try. Ehcp annual review date set. Ed psych being arranged, not totally sure we need that but OK. The LA ones always say teacher training solves all problems, it's cheap.

Collected Amazon parcels, I got rabbit a new tunnel, Floof new toys, some strawberry toothpaste for DS and an A level Economics book for DD.

Green and blue bins collected. Chickens cleaned.

DS helping himself to lots of drinks. Dd gone to cinema with boyfriend.

Silkierabbit · 26/06/2023 23:05

Glad theatre was good Lemons

Hope weather better Math

bizzey · 27/06/2023 00:20

Thanks for the help about the filter.
don't think this machine even has one !
It is about 12 years old !
Never a problem till now

bizzey · 27/06/2023 00:22

I took the front off.
It is not like anything I can see on Google or you tube !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/06/2023 00:52

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone. 💖
Steroid nasal spray and follow-up in 2 weeks.
🤷‍♀️

Sprouts, where in Alaska? If you are hiking at all pack Deet. Mozzies and voracious flies up north. Speaking from experience. Even if long pants/sleeves spray over clothes. If you are in Vancouver at all and need a contact please reach out. I'm here. 😊

Silkie, you have very pampered fur babies and a busy household! 🥰

Had to buy Havoc new sunglasses as little hands snapped off the arm (?). Bought us both sun hats. Let's see how that goes...

Leftovers tonight. You are all welcome to join. 😊 (Also have a very large fruit and nut choco bar for dessert.) 😋😋

bizzey · 27/06/2023 01:11

bizzey · 27/06/2023 01:16

Steroid tablets.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/06/2023 02:33

Dinner is served, Bizzey. 😋
asparagus is particularly good tonight.
Cold chicken and brioche buns.
Same tomato and cucumber salad with large shavings of pecorino and dressed simply with evoo.
(Have I mentioned my obsession with food?)

halfpasteleven · 27/06/2023 06:36

Your dinners sound delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc
Silkie- keeping everything crossed for you that things stay moving in the right direction. It's heart warming to read about your DS.

Awake early here and happily Mumsneting until I have to get up...

HelenaJustina · 27/06/2023 06:48

Your meals always sound delicious havoc, I’ve had some fairly boring museli for breakfast which I tried to make more exciting with a few nuts and dried cranberries.

Busy week at work this week, lots of statutory returns and other events. Plus strikes next week to prep for. Roll on the weekend!

IWanderedLonely · 27/06/2023 09:18

Hi all, been following but not posted for a while.
Made banana cake yesterday- added choc chips, which I don't like, to stop me eating it Grin.
I have to go into work this morning for 1/2 an hour even though it's not a work day & I have my little grandson. Should be interesting!

Hello to all, sorry I haven’t been posting for a while but I have been reading. Sorry you’re still feeling so rotten, Mum - hopefully the new prescription will help. I’m another one who salivates over your food descriptions.

Silkie, well done on getting through to the powers-that-be re DS’s schooling - yet again I’m in awe of your persistence and determination.

Not sure what it is about washing machines but I had a bad moment when our fairly new and hitherto-ultra-reliable Bosch suddenly started flashing a mysterious error code the other day. I’d got as far as YouTube videos and had switched off and on several times (the go-to advice of all engineers) when it suddenly decided to start working as normal. No idea what happened except maybe it, too, was freaked out by the intense heat we’ve been having. At least it’s cooler this week.

In wildlife news, a woodpecker has been visiting our peanut feeder most evenings, and yesterday I finally had my proper camera to hand with long lens attached, so thought I’d get a few shots to share here.

Math, that is indeed a loaf of banana bread (with chocolate chips) in the picture. It is delicious and almost gone now as DS really likes it and eats like a 23 year old.

bizzey, on washing machines, it's open called a trap, not a filter, and is accessed by a little door that pops open at the very bottom of the machine. That's where coins go and other small objects that can't be expelled during the spin cycle. Check your manual or google the brand, model number and "trap".

havoc, I'm glad you got something to treat your issue. I use Flonase every day during allergy season. The problem with steroid tablets (prednisone or prednisolone) is that they have bad systemic effects. Sometimes they are needed, though.

Hilda, you might recall that a few months ago, my Miele washing machine started flashing an error code. It must be something going around with the German machines. Lovely pictures! I get woodpeckers on my feeder frequently, and often ones with the same redhead.

Yesterday we had awful thunderstorms and 1.5 inches of rain, with more on the way today.

I bought some new walking shoes from Hoka, a brand I had never tried before. They're French, apparently, and very trendy. I love them so much I ordered a second pair to keep at home.

I was walking today and was pleasantly surprised to see that the duck and her duckling are okay and that the duckling wasn't washed down the spillway yesterday.

We have a lady who paints houses coming to give us a quote late afternoon today.

Our Dunelm rug has been delivered, its for DS.

They seem to be arranging lot of meetings again, urgh. Its well intentioned but these achieve nothing and are stressful. I had 3 meetings and 2 phone calls on Monday, I have 2 meetings on Wed, I have 2 meetings on Thursday, the one meeting would have been sufficient. They are back on the we will have one of everything thing again though there's often not money so there's just meetings and assessment where we pretend these things might happen and we don't actually want these things. DS hates lots of different people and changes. So do I.

We got PIP through for DS higher rate living lower rate mobility but they wrongly excluded time in hospital but have awarded to 2027 and made first payment which covered the water damage by DS to his floor just after he came out of hospital.

Silkierabbit · 27/06/2023 14:36

Lovely woodpeckers Hilda We get a lot of birds here with a couple of holly trees and a thatched roof but I don't think we get woodpeckers, lots of greenfinch.

Silkierabbit · 27/06/2023 15:42

Phoned PIP to question the not paying in hospital as expenses a lot higher then. Told don't get with PIP in hospital at any age. I explained about court judgement, said doesn't apply to PIP. I said it does. He said will check with manager. Came back you are right and will try and adjust now. So now done and getting £1,400 extra in next few days. Didn't do the mobility and the man did apologise a lot for getting it wrong. Told him it was fine, think he was scared he would be in trouble. He also said their computer system does not allocate automatically and automatically disallows and they have discovered they need to override.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/06/2023 15:44

I gave the guinea pig a bath today. He wasn’t very impressed.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/06/2023 16:07

Oh, Silkie... it's always something, isn't it? Even when things get fixed the effort seems exponentially greater to get to resolution. I hope you can fit in a good head-clearing swim tonight/tomorrow. 💐

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. 💖
I'm reading all updates with interest. 😊

I've just made up a pot of steel-cut oats, and on a whim decided to toast pecans, add sliced banana, a bit of nutmeg, butter, brown sugar and....🥁🥁🥁 heavy cream to go on top. So I've got caramel bananas and pecans on my oats and I've made a latte. Feeling quite indulgent for a Tuesday morning. 😋😋😋
(It's the littles pleasures that keep me going.)

Thank God I still have my appetite. Last bout of covid I lost my sense of taste and I was quite unhappy.
