Lovely to hear from you Havoc but sorry you aren't getting better. I hope you are getting good medical help with that, its horrible when you are ill for a while.

Thanks MissC and lovely pictures. We have not set a date yet but have told DS and he reacted calmly which is good and his eating is up.

Getting floor sorted tomorrow. Washed bedding today.

Silkierabbit · 21/06/2023 20:39

Re surgery date they said definitely not within a year of radio so it would be quickest mid August on. I could ask about a cancellation list though atm I'm OK with waiting a bit and trying to get DS sorted and settled first. Though I don't want to wait until June next year.

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/06/2023 21:26

Sorry you still are poorly Havoc. Hope baby Havoc is doing ok. Results for exam on August!

Lovely pictures MissC- the windscreen was expensive as it is a heated one unlike my rust bucket of a car.

very niggly children in work at moment, tired and grumpy but 4 more weeks to go!!!

Glad Silkie that things are looking a bit better for your DS. Hope you get surgery quickly.

MissConductUS · 21/06/2023 21:30

Lemons, we learned when replacing ours that you're better off with a genuine replacement windscreen from the car manufacturer rather than an aftermarket part. The latter are often not of the same quality. Is insurance paying for the new windscreen?

OP posts:
Lemonsandlemonade · 21/06/2023 21:48

The company who’s van it was had paid the bill ready for it to be fixed, due to the location of the crash we didn’t go through the insurance as we feel it would be considered knock for knock which in the Uk means it would affect insurance premiums next time and potentially would have cost us money for the work isn’t recovered from the other side.

In less boring news we are taking DS to theatre for first time at weekend,

Silkierabbit · 22/06/2023 17:29

Thanks Lemons Hope the next 4 weeks go quickly and you can enjoy your summer off.

Living room wooden flooring being done today and going OK so far.

DSs PIP first installment came through yesterday, not sure what we've got awarded and why but its good to have something through.

Cahms call re school which went well and they are talking to school tomorrow and supporting plan. School is still saying may or may not offer but they've had 2 meetings with us, meeting cahms tomorrow, got all paperwork through from old school, said they are happy with LA offer, said can adjust and only issue is will he engage. Cahms are trying to negotiate the timescale on that.

mathanxiety · 22/06/2023 23:42

Really hoping it works out, Silkies.

We may head out for ice cream later this evening, DD3's treat. I trimmed a pair of jeans for her earlier - they fit on the waist but were about 8 inches too long in the leg. DD is about 5'5" and is what you'd call normally proportioned. I don't know anyone tall enough to wear trews that long. I still have to hem them, so I'll be fishing out the sewing machine and struggling with the bobbin at the weekend. The last time I took out the machine it was the early days of covid and I was making masks.

bizzey · 23/06/2023 01:58

Silkierabbit hope it all works out as good as you want x

I had a boring day ...but interesting!

My friend look at my dress that needs taking up.
The material is too complicated for her her to do ...so she has pinned it ready for me to to take to someone else !!

Maybe I should just wear my jeans and trainers to D'S 's graduation!

I would feel more comfortable 😂!

Thought the humidity we have had recently.......just my cotton nighty is enough!!😂

bizzey · 23/06/2023 01:59

I really cant be be doing with dressing up at any time of the year ..let alone in hot weather !

Deathraystare · 23/06/2023 11:31

I had a usual panic day "where's my .......

This time it was my keys! I had to just go to work without them.

I got back in the tower block that night and had to keep ringing to get my flat mate to answer (he probably assumed it was an Amazon package for me!).

I would then have had the unenviable task of hunting for me keys but I apologised to him for having to answer the door and explained I had lost my keys and he said there was a set of keys on the kitchen top! I cannot even remember going into the kitchen that morning though thinking back I may have done because I brought some milk into work. However I normally make sure the keys go back in a little French Connection make up bag (now we are not wearing coats ). Just so glad I found them!

This morning I forgot my purse. That means I could not buy any cold drinks. I am working 7-3 today. Luckily I made some sandwiches before I left (and remembered to put them in my bag!). Our water tap has been out of order for ages. I have now finished the cold drinks I did have so have to drink tea now! The catering company have not had milk or water delivered either so cannot ask for any. I am type 2 diabetic and get very thirsty!

Deathraystare · 23/06/2023 11:38

@bizzey

I also have a number of items of clothing that need taking up! Some I took with me on holiday and realised then! I won't hassle my friend to do it for me as she is very busy often (walking and seeing films mostly!). But I will ask her to 'pin' stuff for me. I actually thought I had shrunk but I weighed myself in Boots and it showed my height as the same,

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2023 13:36

Thanks Bizzey and Math Flooring work is continuing into day 2. I am incharge of keeping Floof from going outside or into the work room. He's been very good actually. Hopefully go swimming tonight.

HelenaJustina · 23/06/2023 19:33

Sounds like slow but gradual progress silkie but soul destroying if you can’t get buy-in from DS.

have a super time at the theatre lemons what are you going to see?!

I’m having a dull Friday night working on an assignment… 50% complete and it is due Monday!

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2023 19:55

Good luck with the assignment Helena

Have had carpenters in house all day from 9am and still here at almost 8pm. Floof has been with me all day as he needs to stay out of way. He's been really good but DS has shut himself all day in the room with Floof's litter tray in as its his room where they are doing work. Thankfully its been fine so far and Floof is just curled up on my bed with me and purry. He's the easiest cat in the world to make happy.

There's been another meeting between school we want and cahms which went fine but school are saying would want September start (we want that too but issue is will DS be ready). The Head has sent through 3 GCSE maths exam papers for DS to do and we've got a visit with DS arranged now for a week and a half's time. I think we will have an offer if DS engages. I've ordered a couple of bits of school uniform to see if DS will wear them. There's a meeting to discuss on Monday with health and LA. Health are backing. Ultimately LA can force into the school but not onto courses. Cahms again on Monday too.

Swimming tomorrow and cleaners come for first time in a couple of months on Sunday.

halfpasteleven · 23/06/2023 22:12

Glad Floof is being his usual charming self Silkie
Wishing you so much luck and love for your DS to want to engage..

Busy day here of school and DPS birthday. At home now and nicely full of cake.

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2023 23:42

Thanks Half Happy birthday to your DP and glad you've had lots of cake.

bizzey · 24/06/2023 00:50

Back from a lovely evening out with some friends .
School friends actually!!
45 years our little group of 4 has existed!!😂

Weird how we can still get on and have a laugh !

To be fair we don't catch up regularly....but do try every few years.

MissConductUS · 24/06/2023 12:26

Silkie, there are so many different entities involved in your son's schooling arrangements; how do they get any decisions made?

DS has learned that he will receive a double-digit pay rise next month and a bonus. This is lovely confirmation that they like his work, but not uncommon in the big four accounting firms. They have a huge problem with staff turnover, so the extra pay helps them retain people. He and DD went to see a standup comedian last night.

We're having a rainy few days, but Sunday morning is supposed to be clear so we've booked a slot to go cherry picking at our favorite farm.

OP posts:
Silkierabbit · 24/06/2023 13:18

Glad you had a good evening out Bizzey

Congrats on the payrise for your DS MissC Yes there's a crazy number of people involved, old area it was just us and school and they called in a specialist like an ed psych if needed and it worked perfectly. This area there are so many pointless meetings, so many people (80% of which have nothing useful to add but you have to explain to) and they all avoid spending money by saying their assessing or saying another agency has to do something first. Its the most inefficient and useless system. I have 3 meetings on Monday alone. Maybe 100 people involved to date, its as they've put him as complex child but he's not complex at all just a asd kid whose very bright who struggled with no support at secondary. But its like he's an alien from planet zog to them. And they have this system which is based on a school refusing child who is NT and 5 with learning difficulties.

Silkierabbit · 24/06/2023 20:15

Just been swimming which was nice. Hot here now and hot again tomorrow. Got more Maine Coon cat food today.

mathanxiety · 24/06/2023 22:27

It's hot here too. I have spent the last hour and a half sitting in my deck reading and admiring photos of a delicious looking meal DS made for himself.

I will be feeding and entertaining a friend's pug later, at the residence of the pug. He's an affectionate little fellow, full of joie de vivre. My friend decided she really couldn't bring him to the wedding she's attending this weekend, even though it's a relaxed affair at a park downtown, having seen him in action at a family reunion barbecue a few weeks ago. I am becoming quite the pet sitter.

So far, I have managed to kill one of the potted plants I bought for my deck, but the rest are looking ok.

sproutsandparsnips · 24/06/2023 22:41

Miss I raise your crane and give you a heron and a swan plus a cygnet.
Sunrise on the hills by us (disclaimer it was DS who took this and not I who was peacefully slumbering.....)
Helena i feel your pain - I've been revising for an exam and writing an assignment. It's not going particularly well and I am worried that I won't be able to submit it because of technical problems......
Silkie it's mind boggling.......

Lovely wildlife and scenery Sprouts Hope you can get the assignment / exam sorted.

That's lovely your DS does that Math

DS here did put a new duvet cover and get it from the cupboard on his duvet whilst we were washing the old one. Think that's the first time ever he's done that.

Getting up to 30C here late afternoon. Cleaners are here this morning, not been for a couple of months, its not bad already though Floof fluff goes everywhere. Floof loves the cleaners, more attention the better and they compliment him a lot.

HelenaJustina · 25/06/2023 14:12

I got it finished and will submit tomorrow from work (where I left my learning portal log in) it’s a work course so I don’t feel bad doing that. Plus it’ll take 5-10 minutes max. How did you get on Sprouts?

Hot day here, I’m feeling tired after a few nights of not great sleep. We are having a late lunch so may have a little nap afterwards!

Silkierabbit · 25/06/2023 14:16

Cleaners have been and DS seems to have made 6 mint cornettos disappear in 1 morning though that's good as he needs to put weight on.

We are putting the roast dinner for tonight as so hot today though not sure will be that much cooler then. Just had egg sandwich, Portuguese custard tart and lemon tart and tea so far.
