Have had a trying day. Was just about to make a banana bread when neighbour phoned to say their car and other neighbours' cars had been vandalized and catalytic converters stolen. Long/short is our car was also hit. 🤬
insurance company is totally backed up and could take up to three weeks to sort! (Tow w/i a week; review estimate and auth repairs up to two weeks). So, have opted to pay out of pocket up front and submit receipts for consideration of reimbursement. Mechanic has advised $1300+tax. Hoping to have it repaired today. Ouch.

Looked like a lovely holiday!

Until very recently I still felt the motion of the ship!

I am feeling sorry for my friend who is still in hospital (different one though) as she had had a stroke and now has tubes in place because of a difficulty in swallowing so no food at the moment. She must also be bored to tears. I bring in crap mags that don't take much reading or Hello mag with lots of pictures. Must be awful when she smells the food arriving for everyone
else. :( (Luckily she has a biggish family who visit often though we all teased her about her memory and how she should have a visitors book so she can read who came! None of that "No one visits me" milarky!!

In work this morning and then the joys of the launderette. Fun fun fun.

Welcome back Death

DH has gone to France on Friday night, so its the 2 kids and I and Floof, rabbit and silkies DH pre arranged a place when looked like all going. DD has been to her job today and tomorrow and we've been discussing universities and holidays. DS is very quiet. Floof was poking me at 6am to 9am for cuddles, food and games but has calmed since. We got a new fridge which Floof sat on to keep things upstairs and Floof has just discovered its box today. I've done some hoovering and been watching Farmer wants a wife Australia on Channel 4 Plus. DH is back late tomorrow.

Thanks silkie I elevated it on a pillow overnight and it seems magically to be mostly better. I did a gentle 2.5 mile run on it this morning and have been racing round the whole day so fingers crossed for heels tomorrow. Hope DH has a good time with his Mum.

Nightmare about the car @Mumtobabyhavoc it’s the faff of sorting that I hate the most, as opposed to the actual crime!

DC3’s Confirmation tomorrow, 17 for lunch after an 11am Mass…

We went to a Chinese auction at church last week (well DC2 and I did) and DS managed to successfully bid for a coffee machine, a set of WRU coasters, 3 mismatched whiskey tumblers and a whiskey miniature which I had to appropriate......

Hello lovelies. 💖 Car repaired. Tow truck arrived at 2pm. Car was ready by 4:30pm. After tax cost was $1500. 🤬

Death, welcome back. How was the cruise? Did you enjoy the food? I did a Caribbean cruise and the food was very good onboard. People in my party were quite experienced with cruises so taught me you can order seconds (!) at dinner which we all did on lobster night. 😛😛😛

I have small piece of ham out for dinner, a cheese board and some fresh pineapple. I've decided to make a ham and pineapple pizza, aka "Hawaiian" or "Canadian." How divisive is pineapple on pizza on this thread?

Ohh the big pineapple debate !🤣.

I know of a household where the DS's turn their noses up at the mums ham and pineapple pizza request for a takeaway ....

Funnily enough ....they then do go on to finish off said abomination 🤣!

I did a buffet for DM'Sbirthday last year and put out a tray of cheese and pineapple on sticks .
They were devoured with fond nostalgia!

(Note ..they were on a tray and not stuck into 1/2 an orange covered in tin foil ...why did we do that ????)

Sorry to hear about your car havoc. Lots of those parts get stolen here in NY. It worries me that we have two cars in the driveway overnight. We have two outside cameras with floodlights, so hopefully that is a deterrent.

Helena, I hope the confirmation went well. How is her recovery going?

Silkie, did your primary fridge fail or is the new one a second fridge? I love having the extra fridge in the garage.

We had some thunderstorms here Friday night, and a tree came down on the berm that separates our front yard from the road. It was dead and somewhat rotted. DH has texted our tree service bloke, who will take a look tomorrow.

Our central air stopped working on Friday, which was quite a hot day. Fortunately, the weekend has been cool. It's just another thing to get sorted.

Miss, I was a bit obsessed learning about these types of thefts while I waited for the car to be repaired and googled endless news stories about it. It's quite a criminal enterprise and all the metal dealers are shady and part of it. Mechanic told me the new one isn't at risk because it doesn't have the same valuable metal. I had an after market part put on, not one from the dealer . If your car has the original, the advice it to spray paint it pink, stencil the car serial number on it prominently and install a cage over it. On a lot of new cars it is attached to the engine, but if on the exhaust pipe under the vehicle it's at risk. Apparently thieves get up to $800 for them. 🤷‍♀️

It's sunny, but breezy here. I'm still coughing, sneezing and congested. Havoc is much better and barely coughing now. It's been a month of being sick now. So tired of it. Need to see if I can still register Havoc for swimming or if I've missed it.

I came back at the right time because the next cruise out was jam packed with kids! People moaning about the buffet, getting drinks, nowhere to sit etc.

The food was very nice and luckily you could ask for extra veg (just as well, a bit 'mean cuisine!). Very nice fish. If I did not eat fish I would not have found much choice for veggies (due to me being fussy. I do not like sweet potatoes much or butternut squash or cauliflower either! I did eventually go to the buffet early and managed to get a fish curry and a thai veggie curry. Very nice. Puds were lovely both in the restaurant and the buffet too.

Would love to go again somewhere but have to sort out my packing better!!!

I like it with pepperoni on a thin base... with extra cheese..

We are away to Spain in the morning for a holiday. Looking forward to some much needed family time.

I love pineapple on pizza but DH hates it. I also have fruit in salads but DH only one will have is pear, blue cheese, walnut and rocket salad. Or in curries I love fruit he doesn't.

MissC It's an additional fridge for upstairs, just for laziness really though if 1 dies will have another. Floof is very happy with it to sit on and the large cardboard box it came in. Plus he's rather fond of the doormat with rabbits I ordered to replace old one by backdoor.

I also got a sandwich toaster and that has been successful, DD has had 3 toasted sandwiches today though doing a sporty job, DS had two and I had one.

Floof is so happy DH is back and they are playing together. DH has been totally won over and said Floof instead of poking Mummy tomorrow at 6am for a game poke me. Fine by me though Floof pokes me to get DH.

Just done some more hoovering. DH put black bin out. I think DH also has tomorrow as annual leave.

It's 1.20am here. Floof was lying by DH purring away and knocking his fishing toy wanting DH to play. DH said no Floof it's 1.20am then Floof rolled over and DH said OK you missed me we can have a little game and now they are playing. 😂

A little bit exciting here. When the post arrived this morning, I had an envelope with a stranger's name on it-ok, delivered to the wrong house? No, it also had my address! I know you're not supposed to, but I opened it and found a letter from a debt collection agency stating that they'd bought a Vodafone debt for this person.
So i phoned them to inform them that I'd never heard of this person, and they said they'd take my address off their records. I then contacted Vodafone, to make sure they didn't have my address on their records. (Could have been an error, or some sort of identity fraud) Luckily they had the right address, in Birmingham (I'm in Brighton) so I don't know how my address got attached to the debt.
Can anyone tell me how to check that this person hasn't used my address for anything else, please?

Just been swimming 106 lengths and got back and DS had taken a bath and changed clothes. DH is cooking dinner, aligot sausage and veg. I am just having a strawberry cider.

DS started his new job yesterday!
