Didn't make it to France as DS would not move. Floof is very happy and trilly. I am sad DS won't leave house but not bothered about not spending a week with MIL as she makes catty comments constantly. DH is sad though, wanted to go back home. He just had a game with Floof. DD said we need to be stricter but I wish it where as simple as that.

Will try again on Wed though expecting same result. We have plenty to do here though and nice weather. DH may go alone next weekend.

Silkie, sorry you were't able to go away, but it does sound like it's for the best. The last thing you need is drama or stress right now.😺
Could DH go alone for a visit?
If I were your neighbour I'd make you my "coq no vin" as a consolation. 💐
Is your DS otherwise okay?

I've got chicken thighs in the oven. Plan is chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots as I didn't make that last night; made pancakes with fruit instead. 😋
Bought some "ice cream" (dairy free Ben&Jerry's) and plan to have that and a brownie for dessert... so, I still need to make brownies. 👩‍🍳
Watching a doc (?) on Prince Andrew. As this thread is meant to be non controversial and boring I'll say no more. 🤣

I finally got all of the weekend's laundry put away, including the winter coats.

I managed a bit of bedroom deep cleaning again today. My little steamer is quite handy and i feel quite accomplished using it.
I didn't make brownies last night after all, but I did make a a sort of poundcake (standby recipe) and added slivered almonds, dried cherries and a titch * of almond essence plus vanilla for flavouring. Chocolate ice cream went quite well with it!

*interestingly, I'm getting an error for the word "titch", but no suggestions for other words or spellings. I haven't made the word up....🧐🤷‍♀️

Sorry you didn’t make it to France Silkie. Time is a great healer I feel like your DS needs time after all he has been through. And you do too make sure you take the time for yourself.

DS meted me today he said Love you mummy and gave me the biggest hug ever 🥰🥰. He is 2 on Friday.

He’s so sweet lemons it is a gorgeous, though sometimes challenging age!

Thank you everyone for the good wishes, DC3 and I came home yesterday late morning. Had to set an alarm to give her meds overnight so not feeling caught up on sleep yet but it is so good to be home. Been for run this morning and expecting family over for a visit imminently.

I feel your pain about having to set an alarm to give overnight medications.

DS had a very big operation a few years ago and was on loads of different meds.

In hospital they were spreading them out in 2 hourly dosages including the night !

They helped me work out a plan on how to do it at home though.

In hospital meds are given within a very strict 24 hour time frame.

At home I could vary it a bit to a.

IE...last dose could be given at 1am to give a longer gap to the morning one .
But in hospital that would have been classed as the wrong day .

I had a spread sheet with meds and times and ticked off when given otherwise I would not remember!!

Thought I am going to get a rectangular dish for nest time instead of faffing with a square one !

Hospital DS has been referred to a hospital we have never been to before ..
GP is going to ring and explain it all.

In limbo with the waiting .
I thought they would say ....all is fine ....it was a blip in the system.

Could well be that all is fine and they are just being precautionary and want to keep an eye on him 🤞🤞.

A "fresh" day here today.

Can't really say cold ...but a bit of a dip from last week.

Was very muggy this week 22 years ago ...as that is when I brought my first born home from hospital !🤣🤣🤣

bizzey Hope the hospital appointment goes ok for your DS.’ It sounds very complex all his medication etc

Made DS’ birthday cake for party at weekend. I hope it isn’t dry as a chip by then. I know it’s not like the best looking cake ever but it’s made with love.

Havoc Lovely your DS is talking and would be lovely to have you as a neighbour. DS isn't great but at least he eats, drinks and sleeps here does ipad, his rabbit, TV. DD is on great form with 2 jobs, A levels, uni applications, boyfriend, holiday abroad etc, only a year older, quite sad to see how behind DS is. I have cahms call tomorrow, education are so useless we are looking at moving areas but DD has another year of A levels and I have operation roughly around Jan 24. So would be in a year's time but we are starting to prepare for that as plan B. Maybe down to South West by the coast. I have been researching houses and areas, gives me some hope at least.

DH will go to France by himself Fri to Sun, I am quite happy not to go as MIL is rather sharp with her comments, best one last time was telling DD she was fat when she is really thin and its the age of eating disorders. Ironically MIL is fat. Thankfully DD is quite confident about that. I got lots of you look trash after cancer treatment, yes I know but I don't need it pointed out. I think its partly as her husband used to say how much prettier I was than her when he was alive.

Oh and I still have 500 dollars of Air Asia credit from a covid cancelled 2020 holiday (rest got refunded eventually) to Borneo and I've just rebooked for August 2024 as I have to rebook by June 2023. No idea if we will get to go but hopefully DS will be better by then and my operation over and recovered.

Well I am in an incandescent rage right now 👺👺!

DS was checking his email this morning to check his extra tuition times today ( 1/2 term here ,but college is putting on some extra stuff).

He showed me an email from GP that has his referral letter and how to book appointment.

It is for the department of heart failure 😭😭!!

No GP has spoken to or tried to ring him yet !

How can they send that referral /book your appointment email with no heads up.

(Let alone someone that has SEN !!)

I knew he was going to be referred....
But as I said ...I thought it was just to tick the boxes sort of thing ..

Still ....at least the kitchen is getting blitzed from top to bottom right now while I await the emergency appointment from GP to explain .

So upset for him .

He is off to do extra stuff to try and get at least 1 GCSE ...and has had to ask me ....what does heart failure mean 😭😭.

Tell DS not to worry too much, bizzey - heart failure is a chronic condition that can be managed. It's a shocker not to have sat him down with you or a friend to go over his medical condition first all the same..

Silkie, your daughter sounds so busy! How does she juggle it all? What is she hoping to study at university? You ds has made so much progress and I'm sure with your and dh's support at home will continue to do so. Calm, stable and predictable seem to bode well. So glad you've got your swimming. Glad your dh is going to spend time with his mum.

I'm having a cup of tea and a bit of the cherry almond cake I made the other day for breakfast. It's nice and sunny. Need to get groceries at some point. I just sneezed and Havoc said, Bless You. 💖

Helena, so good to hear that your DD is home. I hope she's feeling better and is having an quick recovery from the surgery.

Lemons, that cake is fantastic! How did you create the leaf design? It looks like it came from a posh bakery.

bizzey, does he have a diagnosis about what type of heart condition they have found? It's awful that you didn't get some information before the referral.

Silkie, it sounds like you dodged a bullet with your MIL. Some can never forgive their DILs for "stealing" their son. Re the comment about your DD being fat, she's obviously projecting.

DS is taking his first bit of annual leave the week and has driven up to Rhode Island to stay tonight, then onto Boston for few days to see his friends from uni. He will also stop by to see my MIL, which I think is really sweet of him.

Bizzey your poor DS try not to panic. I hope the appointment goes ok.

MissC it was the easiest thing I could think of that would cover any gaps in the icing I cut the leaves freehand with a pizza slicer. Hope your DS enjoys his AL. I fancy going to Rhode Island one day.

Ds has his birthday tomorrow we are off to a farm park.

Bizzey So sorry that happened to your DS, you are totally right to be annoyed. We open the ones for DS, in hospital DS would put them all down the toilet along with their therapy elephant.

Having a bit of battle to get Tamoxifen and book dental cleaning and dental toothpaste. But I have now won and got all of them coming. I am even private for dentistry, dentist is super helpful.

DH is off to France later just for weekend. Floof will struggle, he whines when DH goes to bathroom for 2 minutes or coop shop for 5 minutes. And then trills like crazy on his return.

Thanks Havoc and all. DC3 is bouncing back at pace, need to be careful they don’t overdo it. We went for a gentle walk with friends this morning, DC3 insisted they could do it. They admitted defeat at the half way point so I had to run back for the car (in not running clothes) and went over on my ankle! Am not impressed.

The cake looks amazing Lemons I hope you have a lovely celebration this weekend. I love 2yr olds, they are hilarious, adorable and infuriating by turns!

DS has reported that he had an outstanding lobster roll in Connecticut and is now in a sea side town in Rhode Island. He may be on his way to Boston by now. I think he has tickets for a baseball game for himself and a friend.
