Is it what used to be called a 'crick' in your neck, IWandered?

Helena hope you get a chance to sit down and enjoy the day at some point.

I woke early to take a DD to CPR training for her summer job. Dropped her off at what turned out to be the wrong building, but she figured out her mistake and walked to the right one. It's a good thing we were really early.

On my way home, I noticed people on foot bearing bundles of rhubarb and potted plants and deduced that the local farmers market has opened again for the season, so I went and bought a spindly little dill plant.

Last time I bought dill there, there were butterfly eggs on it, and we ended up with three very hungry caterpillars who demolished the plant and most of the big bunches of dill and fennel I bought for them from the supermarket before turning into chrysalises (chrysalisii? chrysali?) Even if we get no caterpillars this year, I like fresh dill in potato salad.

HelenaJustina · 21/05/2023 09:44

Sounds sore Iwandered I tend to hope these things magically resolve themselves overnight!

I did get a chance to sit down yesterday, thank you lemons. At 8pm I went round to a neighbour’s to extract DC4 who had been round there playing since 5pm. I had a glass of wine and a great chat/catch-up and finally took DC4 home at 10pm! My penance was to be at a swim meet at 8am this morning with DC2.

MissConductUS · 21/05/2023 15:11

Iwandered, how is your neck this today?

Lemons, it will be nice to have DD home for the summer. It will just be a bit of a change in the routine as she hasn't been home much since starting uni three years ago. We'll have to get used to cooking for four again. Fortunately, she's not as picky an eater as she was when she left. I'm so glad she's growing out of that.

It rained all day yesterday, so I'll pot some more plants today, and the men will do some yard work. The second new hose came for the front yard, so DH will hook it up. He has mentioned possibly washing and waxing my car.

I was up early today, and let our boy cat out onto the deck. Sometime later, I moved a big bag of potting soil from the garage to the deck, then realized he wasn't out there. I got a bit frantic and searched around the outside of the house in case he had tried jumping up onto the railing and missed and gone over the side. I didn't see him, so I searched inside the house with no luck. I went to wake up DS to help me look for him. The cat was in bed with DS. The little creature must have snuck past me while carrying the potting soil out to the deck. At that point, it was too late to make the 8:30 service at church, so I skipped it.

Hope you are feeling better now Iwandered

I have 2 meetings re DS tomorrow which am dreading, mainly due to LA who are continuing to be unhelpful.

Just been swimming and did 100 lengths again x 15m and steam room and jacuzzi. DH has driven DD to her boyfriends and they are off for a week's holiday in southern Europe. Forecast is rain and thunder, its normally sunny there.

Floof when DH opened the McDonalds bag immediately stretched both his paws as long as he could, he always puts his face in McDonalds bags and is glued to them. They must smell appealing to cats. I had a big mac and apple pie and orange juice. Floof was so hyper this morning trilling and leaping everywhere by me for about half an hour non-stop this morning, the one side the other side, above my head, on the chair next to me, no idea why but he wore himself out. He plays games all the time. Just heard him trilling.

IWanderedLonely · 21/05/2023 21:28

Neck much better, thanks all. I've had a lovely day today, I come alive in warm sunny weather! Done loads of chores that I've ot felt up to for months.
Miss all 3 of my children were picky eaters to some degree, after moving out and fending for themselves they now happily eat anything I put in front of them Smile
Silkies well done on the swimming, I'm envious. Hope all goes well with the LA.
I went to church today but left straight after the service, didn't stay for coffee.

MissConductUS · 21/05/2023 22:16

Silkie, your tales of Floof make me a bit glad that our feline overlords are older and more sedate. Floof sounds like a lovable handful at times.

Iwandered, I'm glad your neck pain has resolved. We had a lovely, sunny day here too. DH and DS washed and waxed my car, which was so nice of them.

We're having ribeye steaks on the grill for dinner.

Just returned from a weekend in Newquay (South Wales). Had a lovely time with DS rugby team and parents and weather was good.
However I have burned my feet playing cricket for 2 hours on the beach and ache in several muscles I didn't know I had! Ironically I spent quite some time telling DS to ensure he put plenty of cream on.....
DS1 has been revising frantically for geography and chemistry tomorrow.
Impressive swimming Silkie
Always love your photos Miss (yes I know ima bit behind!)
Impromptu catch-ups are always the best Helena
Hope you feel better soon Havoc.

Silkierabbit · 21/05/2023 23:32

Glad you are better Iwandered

Enjoy the steaks Miss Yes Floof is quite full on, just had an 11.30pm game with him leaping about, lots of fun and such a trilly boy but he does get a bit leapy at times, it's normally only about 20 mins a day, rest of time he's just cuddly wanting to chat eating or flooping around.

A weekend away sounds lovely Sprouts Hope exams go well.

MissConductUS · 21/05/2023 23:32

sprouts, that sounds like quite a day. So the tops of your feet got sunburned?

I spotted this fellow on the deck as we were getting dinner ready. It's amazing how they match the color of whatever surface they're on.

Our neighbours have what I now know is a Maine Coon, it is ginger and I thought it was a fox trotting across the road in broad daylight last week. It was the right size!

We do have foxes locally, but not in the village. They are rural and very shy, unlike their brazen urban cousins.

The tour sounds huge fun sprouts the weather was glorious this weekend.

5 days of work until half term. We can do this!

bizzey · 22/05/2023 17:58

Ahhhh I have the brazen urban cousins foxes that live at the end of my garden !

Sunbathe on the top of the shed and the patio area as well .!

Forget nocturnal ....they are 34 hours !!

I did a stupid thing on Saturday.
I put a bin out ( ours are collected just as bags) in the garden .
The green/garden rubbish bags had been put on top of my biggish storage bin I usually put my bags in till bin day .

Was going to sort it after the party....yes! I forgot !!

Had to clear up that bag spewed everywhere on Sunday !🤣

You would think...seeing as I let them live rent free with full use of garden they would have more respect !

bizzey · 22/05/2023 17:58

On a plus side....I did see mummy with her cubs walking around my garden one day !

bizzey · 22/05/2023 18:09

Now for my vanity side ...
I have ds's graduation in July .
I am a jeans, trainers and top sort of person .
But I have been making an effort with my " ablutions" ! to look after my skin a bit better in the run up .
Chest will be in a bit of a show with a dress I last wore 12 years ago .

Cooking dinner tonight...

splashed hot oil that hit me me right in the middle (just above the crinkley crease I am trying to improve 🤣🤣)

Bit of a hard area to run under cold tap so I have just smothered my self in Sudocream . ( White nappy barrier cream which is the go to cream for anything !)

I now smell like a freshly changed baby's bottom .. hopping it doesn't scar/mark 🤣🤣

Thumb got it as well ....and my white t-shirt. 😭😭!

I have started using rose oil ( not sure if proper name)

It is orange .

I did actually treat top first in fairy liquid than my thumb !!

bizzey · 22/05/2023 19:05

Rapeseed oil ...not rose oil !

MissConductUS · 22/05/2023 19:20

Sorry to hear about your burn, bizzey, but congrats on the upcoming graduation?

Burns are at risk of infection. Can you get something like this over the counter at the chemist?

Miss, that frog looks like stone! Amazing!
Bizzey, hope the burn to your face isn't too bad. I don't have any experience with foxes, but I do with moose, bears and coyotes. 🇨🇦
Sprouts, I don't know the UK education system, but it sure seems like there are a lot of exams. 🤓
Math, my mum used to make rhubarb pie in summer when I was growing up. Strawberry-rhubard seems to be the norm, but it was rhubarb only in our house. I love that tartness! I'll have to keep my eyes open for rhubarb as it's been a few years since I've made rhubarb pie and now I have a craving! 😛

Still not over being sick, but feel like we've finally turned the corner. The cough is quite tenacious. Woke up congested and coughing at 6am today. Thought I'd do a sinus rinse, brush my teeth and down a couple glasses of water then slip back into bed. Havoc must've heard me and got out of bed, too. 🤦‍♀️
managed a good, almost two-hour, nap a while later then made pancakes for a late lunch. Had fruit salad, maple syrup and a good spoonful of pistachio spread with mine. I discovered an almond version to try next...😛😛😛Has anyone else given it a try? It far surpasses Nutella.

Lemonsandlemonade · 23/05/2023 06:28

Havoc in the Uk at 16 ( for most ) there are exams called GCSEs for every subject that most children take. Things like English for example would have two exams of about 2 hours long and additional exams for a literacy qualification.

My wedding anniversary today going out for tea later. Only to a pub with DH and DS and not romantic in the least!

Silkierabbit · 23/05/2023 11:37

Just heard DH on the phone to work saying Floof is like my wife and Floof loves me. 😂He's been very full on today, poke for breakfast, poke to get dh to play, poke to get me to play though he's resting now. Dd is on holiday so that might be why is higher demand atm.

Silkierabbit · 23/05/2023 11:37

Happy anniversary Lemons

Silkierabbit · 23/05/2023 19:44

Bit of progress today, draft report from the 2nd hospital who are the leading experts in UK and its the first report which gives an honest view of what happened rather than the very edited version where things kept being missed out so medicine error is in, police handcuffing is in, we are said to be great parents, education is said to have not put support in place.

And I got an appointment to discuss diep surgery in mid June - the wait is something like 42 weeks from then though it might be 42 weeks from start of April but good to finally get on waiting list.

Meeting yesterday was OK, cahms are fine now its the autism team now not first awful team, so issue we have is LA and schools.

We are having pancakes tonight. DH has asked DS about going to France for a week and he didn't have a bad reaction. So DH has booked pets in and we will see. We suggested to him going at night as he may be less scared then as he hides outside and in car and if we get that far we will take a duvet on back seat. Hope will get him there and also through passport control.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/05/2023 20:52

@Lemonsandlemonade thanks for the info. That's interesting. 🤓 Happy Anniversary. 🥂
I hope you had a good dinner. 😋
@Silkierabbit wow, you have so much on your plate! Sending support and hoping your son manages that trip. Mmmm, pancakes. 😋

MissConductUS · 23/05/2023 21:18

Happy anniversary, lemons!

That's great news about the honest report you received, Silkie.

Busy day today, but I had time for a walk at lunch and spotted a new turtle in the reservoir. This one is larger and has a red stripe on his neck.

Happy Anniversary for yesterday Lemons hope you had a lovely celebration

bizzey · 24/05/2023 23:47

Happy anniversary Lemons 🎉!

My parents always celebrated their anniversary as a family event and not just something for them.

We use to always go to a " Bernie Steakhouse ".
Menu was very limited !
Orange juice , Tomato soup or prawn cocktail for starter.

Steak for main ....they didn't do child portions so I always had to share with my younger brother !

Banana split or Knickerbocker Glory for desert !

Typical '70 's menu ....and I can still remember it 😅😅!

It was such a treat .

bizzey · 24/05/2023 23:58

MissConductUS thanks for the cream link .
Don't know what the equivalent would be over here .

Burn in chest came up in a blister and I accidentally knocked it so it has now popped !

The burn on my hand is just red .

Think chest skin is much thinner , plus I didn't do the cold water thing .

Though Sudocream is turning out to be a very nice and effective decollage moisturizer 😅!

Skin is as smooth as a baby's bum 😅🤣🤣🤣!

( Flippin heck 😲😲!
Glad I checked auto correct before posting ....
Phone changed it to boy's bum 😳🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️!)
