bizzey, congrats to your DS! A new job is always a thrill. I'm sure he's very pleased.

Math, I am on the lookout, but I don't usually see hummingbirds until I have more flowers out.

Mum, it's pretty normal for babies to run very high fevers. As for your cold, try some OTC loratadine and cetirizine. It may be seasonal allergies, not a cold.

I had the windscreen on my car replaced yesterday. It took about three hours, but there was a Target nearby, so I did some shopping. I was pleased to see the duck couple frolicking on the spillway this morning. I'm surprised they let me get this close. Perhaps they're used to me by now.

Had a frost on the car this morning.

Bizzey congrats on your DS job.

Havoc Hope your DD is better soon.

Lovely ducks MissC

Silkierabbit · 16/05/2023 23:44

I am jealous of your gardener Bizzey They keep asking what help we would like for DS and I keep saying sensory garden but they aren't taking the hint. 😂congrats on your ds getting the job.

Hope you are feeling better now Half

Lovely hummingbirds Math

Hope Havoc is better now.

I went out for a meeting today. Floof was not impressed. I got back to this. He's all cuddly again now.

Lemonsandlemonade · 17/05/2023 19:07

Silkie that’s sooo funny. 😅

MissConductUS · 17/05/2023 19:19

Silkie, we had a cat that would sulk like that. One time we came back from a week away and she was so cross that she refused to acknowledge that we had returned. She wouldn't even look at us. We were dead to her, so to speak. I think she came around about two days later.

We have old, rather worn out garden hoses on the deck and in front of the house. It's gotten to the point where water shoots out of the base of the sprayer head where it screws onto the hoses because the metal connectors are bent. DH has done some research and has found a super hose, which is coming today from Amazon. I can't wait to try it out.

Stanley Fatmax Professional Grade Water Hose, 50' x 5/8", Yellow 500 PSI

Floof only sulked for a few minutes, he loves attention so much and is such a cheerful chap he couldn't keep it up.

One visit today, thankfully they agreed to 10 minutes and ds coped with that though I still found it stressful. But at least the house is now very clean. Dds a level mocks are over and went fine.

mathanxiety · 18/05/2023 04:43

DD3 lifted Dcat off the kitchen chair she was occupying yesterday, and sat there herself. Dcat walked over to me, sat at my feet, stared at me, miaowed, and looked over her shoulder at DD3, then left the room. I swear she was snitching on DD3.

DS cooked us a lovely chicken fajita dinner tonight, with two kinds of beans, rice, and corn tortillas warmed on the pan. He bought a bag of onions to use one for the meal, but we already have a newly bought bag in the fridge, so now I'm going to have to think of meals to use up twenty two onions over the next month or so.

Havoc hope you'll all be feeling better soon. Baby fevers can be quite scary.

Bizzey congrats to your DS on getting the job.

Silkie - glad the visit went ok and that it was very short. I'm sure it was just an exercise in box ticking.

MissC the ducks seem very at home in the reservoir.

HelenaJustina · 18/05/2023 18:37

What a well brought up young man math! Did he also clear up afterwards?

Glad the visit went well silkie I find a clean and tidy house relaxing, ‘tidy house tidy mind’ for me, I find it stressful when there is clutter/mess everywhere. My house slowly deteriorated over the course of a half term and then is dragged back up to my standards during the holiday.

About to take DC2 to swim training and do a big food shop while they are there. It’s been a really busy week at work and there is no let up in sight over the weekend as DC are super busy until the end of June with extra curriculars.

MissConductUS · 18/05/2023 20:58

Math, domesticated cats are very attuned to social relationships. There are humans of high importance and humans of lesser importance. Your cat was snitching to the human of high importance.

The new garden hose was delivered yesterday. DH put it out in the front garden to check the length for use there, and he wants a longer one . It's 50 feet long, so fine for the deck. He's ordered a 75 foot one for the garden. The quality is vastly better than the old hose. It doesn't leak at the connections or kink when you pull it out. It is, however, very yellow.

Loving the cat stories 😅😅!

Slightly stressful evening in chezbizzey tonight!

DS (the hospital one !) has a big exam tomorrow morning.

Technically 3 years later than when he should have been sitting it ....but with loads of medical /MH/SEN/ issues it wasn't to be until now .

I am amazed that he has even got this far to be able to sit an exam !

I took him out of school and home educated him for 3 years due to various issues.

Well tonight he has just asked if I have a spare protractor as his is broken !!

Darling DS ...is 10.40 pm really the time you should be asking me this question ??

Well I checked my make -up bag
..and guess what ....
No I did not have a spare protractor in there !!😅😅!

Annoyingly...I have seen them around the house when I tidy /blitz the place ...but just can't remember where !!

He will have to buy one from college if they don't have any spares to give out .

They are putting on a free breakfast for the students who have AM exams so I am sure they have a few spare bits of equipment for them as well !

Job DS is back tomorrow with his girlfriend so big house cleaning in order tomorrow.
( And I bet I will find loads of protractors !!😅)

Off out on Saturday for a family friend's 100th birthday party 🎉.

Ohh and gardener has said can he come tomorrow instead of next week.
So I have to tidy the garden up ...before ..the gardener comes to
...errr tidy it up !!

Silkierabbit · 18/05/2023 23:26

Hope exam goes OK Bizzey

That's lovely of your DS Math

A clean house is great Helena

Miss You have reminded me of when DS used to watch hosepipe adverts over and over again as he was fascinated by the different lengths and prices. He watched it about 10 times and said this is so interesting.

DD has been out all day. DS is wandering round downstairs. Floof is his usual attention seeking trilly self. When I opened a bank account and got a code DH read code out Floof thrilled and charged over 737934 that was him being called. Smile He's been playing games all day long. He is just trilling now.

Deathraystare · 19/05/2023 06:04

Fingers crossed for your son @bizzy.
Also congrats to job son!

I have stayed at a friend's house overnight. Am off to Norway for a cruise. Embarking at 10.00 but of course getting a taxi was hard. My friend tried various companies but the only one that has transport in morning is at 06.30!!! Had to take it. I just hope when I get there that there is somewhere to sit down and wait!

My friend's house is not old but there are lots of creaks! She is not here she is with her partner attending a birthday party. So before I leave I have to check all lights out and all plugs in plughole (she is terrified of spiders!!!). As I am not at home I didn't feel right watching paranormal ghost/demon stuff!! I normally watch on you tube before I sleep!!!!

Floof's tai is mega floofy! Two of our cats decided to prove how half starved the were when we were on holiday. Trouble is my Nan was feeding them so half starved doesn't really describe their predicament as she overfeeding everyone! We always left het table groaning!!_

HelenaJustina · 19/05/2023 06:39

Have a wonderful time Deathray what a wonderful time of year for a cruise. Are you going alone?

bizzey · 19/05/2023 16:16

Thanks for the exam wishes !
Of all mornings for no alarms to go off 😧😧!

I woke up with a start as I thought it was late ...but luckily was only 7.10.

He got there to seen the last of the free breakfast that they were doing which was really nice of the college...
but he decided to give the congealed scrambled eggs a miss !!

As I said, for him to even get to this stage to be taking a formal exam is a miracle ...but 1 down ...4 or 5 more to go !

He is "only " taking maths and English.

Garden is done and looking lovely .

Though I think my gardener has under charged me 🤔!

I was expecting it to be much more as it was the first big garden job since October!!

I was going to water it but he said soil/grass was damp enough so not to bother tonight.
Result for lazy cow me !!!

bizzey · 19/05/2023 16:26

Deathraystare a Norway cruise sounds amazing !

I have never been on a cruise, though it is up there on my to do list !!

Hope it is fun .

bizzey · 19/05/2023 16:29

Not sure how I would cope with a couple of glasses of wine and the boat movement though !!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/05/2023 16:30

Miss, I'm somewhat fascinated by the expanding hoses I see advertised on tv although I have no need for a hose.
Death, have a great time on your cruise. I've cruised twice and loved it!
Silkie, Floof continues to provide endless joy, I see. I love the updates.
Math, how nice of your son! Dinner sounds good! Did you manage to get your winter coats washed and put away?
Bizzey, how does ds think exam went?

Unfortunately,, still sick here. My cough has lessened but sinus congestion seems worse. At this point I'm not unconvinced it's covid as I have that awful sore throat I had the last two times with covid. Havoc doesn't have a fever today - yea! But now has the cough and croaky throat- boo.

I've got a load of laundry in the wash and we're having steel cut oats for breakfast. I've got brown sugar, cinnamon, strawberries and raspberries on mine with a bit of warm soymilk and foam from from the milk I heated for my latte. If you haven't put warm foamed milk on your oatmeal you must try it. 😋

bizzey · 19/05/2023 16:56

Mumtobabyhavoc ..hope you and babyhavoc feel better soon X

Thanks for asking about the exam .
He said it seemed ok but there were a few questions that they had not been taught.

I gave him my wise and thoughtful words of wisdom ,that not all questions can be covered in class and that it is normal ...

He looked at me and said ...
You've been on Mumsnet again checking out the GCSE thread haven't you .
🤣🤣!

Every Time I give wise wisdom...they always ask if I got it from MN !

Sometimes it is my own wisdom
..but they never believe me !
( disclaimer...yes I have been on the GCSE MN thread 🤣🤣!)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/05/2023 19:03

Bizzey, I remember a poli sci class in uni I studied my butt off for. Prof had spent three classes discussing the Law of the Sea. My (handwritten!) notes were impeccable and I knew the lectures inside and out. Imagine my surprise when the exam didn't contain a single question about the Law of the Sea!!!! Instead, there were questions on a subject briefly covered and were the only questions I got wrong/lesser marks for (can't quite remember). I made an appt with the prof and challenged it. He didn't recall three lectures about the Law of the Sea and was surprised I studied it so much. I showed him my notes. It resulted in him striking my wrong responses and adjusting my grade.
I was getting an A anyway, but I think it moved it to A+. Prof and I had a bit of a laugh as I had taken a couple of his classes before.

bizzey · 19/05/2023 19:42

Law of the sea sounds fantastic!

Well my gardener was right about not needing to water the garden tonight!

It is pouring down here .
Got the washing in but will need to go elsewhere for over night .

Was beautiful day upto 40 mins ago .

MissConductUS · 19/05/2023 20:48

The law of the sea is indeed interesting. British and American admiralty courts routinely cite each other's decisions.

We're getting some needed rain here tonight too.

DD has informed us that she's coming home for the summer next Friday.

One funny story about the new garden hose. When DH carried it through the house to put it on the deck, Dboycat looked at him in horror. Cats have an instinctive fear of snakes and must have thought that DH was bringing a giant yellow snake into the house.

Hope you all get better soon Havoc

Enjoy your Norway cruise Death We went there a few years ago, beautiful place though crazily expensive.

Good your DD us back soon Miss

Good to get your garden done Bizzey

Just been swimming, 85 lengths pool was crowded today, it was bring a friend for free so at least was free. I will join soon but initially just dh joined as it was 5 free guest passes on joining and guy selling suggested I wait and use guest passes. Went in steam room.

Dd been doing punting job and planning her holiday. Ds has been doing the aptly named Idle Heroes on his ipad and eating fish and chips.

Floof has been floofing. He was very excited we were back and came to play with the long bathroom light cord whilst I was in the bath. He plays so much at the moment but does collapse on floor and just use the one paw a tiny amount every 10 minutes. He got very excited today when DH said do you want a jacket potato, he gave a loud bruup and rushed to kitchen, was then somewhat underwhelmed on learning what a jacket potato was.

HelenaJustina · 20/05/2023 07:37

I’m up, one coffee down and ready to embark on a bonkers weekend day… wish me luck

IWanderedLonely · 20/05/2023 09:14

I've somehow pulled a muscle or something in my neck. I'm fine as long as I don't move my head.Hmm

Lemonsandlemonade · 20/05/2023 18:15
