Ohh LEMONS. that sounds worrying.
I have seen the shaking thing from a high fever in my dad (76 at the time ) .
It is scary.

He was taken to hospital with high temp due to an thing I can't spell ..it was a sort of .inhalation pneumonia.

2 weeks seems a long time to wait .

Hope he feels better now .

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/05/2023 15:51

Morning lovelies. 💖
it's the start of a gorgeous weekend today. Sun, blue sky. Heat on the way...🤔
Mother's Day on Sunday.
Still sick. Slight fever 100.7f ( unknown why all three of my thermometers are all Fahrenheit?)
Was awake throughout the night due to sore throat. Finally got out of bed at 6am to do sinus rinse and gargle with salt water. Since I was up folded all hanging laundry and put away then cleaned bathroom including washing the floor. Made a strong cuppa with a bagel and PB&J and got Havoc's breakfast ready. Now sitting with Havoc who has happily eaten raspberries and some bagel with PB. It's quite cute now - when done eating Havoc will hand me dish and say, Thank You. 😍

MissConductUS · 12/05/2023 20:35

It should be nice here too this weekend, Mum. Today feels more like July than May.

The sore throat and mild fever can be seasonal allergy symptoms. I've had both some years. Try some over the counter allergy meds and see if they help.

It's Mother's Day weekend here, so I am hoping for cupcakes and possibly dinner out.

The replacement for my colleague who left in February starts on Monday, so we'll be busy next week helping her get settled in.

Hope your DH is feeling a bit better, Lemons.

Love your reservoir photos, MissC.

I took DD3 shopping yesterday to the local thrift store yesterday, always her first port of call when looking for clothes. She found a nice embroidered blouse, and I bought a cookbook.

The DCs have bought me a magnetic spice rack to stick to the side of the fridge and free up a good deal of counter space. I'm really excited about it. I may have mentioned the conversation here about kitchen spices and storage solutions a little while back, and they may have spotted the gleam in my eye.

I'm hoping to watch Eurovision on Swedish TV again this year. The entries I thought would make it to the final did, though I had the Netherlands in and Croatia out.

I'm also hoping to finally get to wash the winter coats and put them away. The weather has turned warm at last.

HelenaJustina · 13/05/2023 08:00

Looking forward to our little Eurovision party tonight, just me, DH and 3DC old enough to be up that late. DH bought a bottle of my favourite cava yesterday and I’ve sorted food. Busy day to get through first. Have arrived at DC2’s swim training and pysching myself up to go for a run.

MissConductUS · 13/05/2023 12:18

DH has made reservations for us to have dinner at a Japanese Hibachi restaurant tonight for Mother's day and I'm quite excited about it. We had a favorite hibachi restaurant, but they had a fire a few years ago and never reopened, so we're trying another one nearby that has good reviews.

DD has left uni this morning to go to her one week rowing camp in New Hampshire. She'll come home from there.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/05/2023 17:05

Miss, that sounds great! I used to love going to a teppanyaki restaurant, but it's been ages now. Have you been to one of those? Your dd rowing camp sounds fun!
Lemons, how is dfam? Feeling any better?

Have got two neg covid tests so am masking and heading out with Havoc. Just a crappy head cold. I'm wallowing in self pity. 🥹
My allergies and mild asthma make me prone to catch whatever is going around. 🤷‍♀️😔
Going to local farm to see ponies. Mummy is very excited! 🥳
Weather is quite warm so planning on water park after nap. Expecting it to be very busy. 😎

Lemonsandlemonade · 13/05/2023 19:52

Sorry for everyone who is poorly on this thread.

such a beautiful day here. we may go to the local lake for ice cream tomorrow.

DH is better much better.

DS is better he is his happy self. He hates his antibiotics but they do taste absolutely vile. His skin is almost better but is clearly very sensitive.

MissConductUS · 14/05/2023 11:46

Happy Mother's Day to those who are celebrating.

Lemons, I'm glad your DH and DS are doing so much better.

I put the furniture out on the deck yesterday, and DH assembled a new cat tree. I'll post pictures later. Dinner at the hibachi place was great fun. I love how it's all cooked at the table while you watch. I had steak and shrimp with fried rice. It was delicious. We'll have to go back with DD when she's home.

Happy Mothers Day to all those celebrating today.

Glad things are getting better Lemons

Bargellobitch · 14/05/2023 12:29

I've just planted my first ever hanging basket. I lived in flats then in a house with no where to put one. So it's an exciting time.

I've just put my tk maxx slippers in the wash. They're suade or fake moccasin types. I was wearing them to mop the other week and got water on them. Asla the red dye started leaching out. So I'm not optimistic they will survive.
Big day for me then😂

Bargellobitch · 14/05/2023 14:11

The update no one wanted or needed... The slippers are fine!

MissConductUS · 14/05/2023 15:33

Welcome, @Bargellobitch, and thanks for sharing your plant and laundry news. What did you put in the hanging basket? Is it indoors or out?

I went to church, which was lovely. Our priest gave the sermon, mostly talking about motherhood and the challenges she's had with her two kids. DH went to the posh bakery and got cupcakes for us to have after dinner as a Mother's Day treat.

The cats have explored the new cat tree. Both have climbed into the house part at the bottom. Now that the furniture is out and I have potted some flowers, the deck is looking like summertime is on the way. I love sitting out there and having my coffee in the morning. If you look very closely, one of the cats is lying down at the far end of the deck.

Been away for a few days in the van. DH had a D &V bug on day 2. Rather challenging in a very confined spaceEnvy
Iswam twice a day in the sea. Going to miss it. We saw dolphins in the early morning, really close to shore.
Had a telephone Dr's appt while away. I have a lot of gallstones. Dr had a terrible bedside manner, referred to lifestyle choices, such as - being menopausal, taking HRT and being overweight- didn't know the menopause was a lifestyle choice! He told me twice that I need to lose a stone straight away. I cried when the appt had finished, talk about how to make someone feel worse about themselves!

Silkierabbit · 14/05/2023 20:17

Lovely pics MissC

Glad your slippers survived Bargello

Seeing dolphins is wonderful Iwandered Sorry about the rude doctor.

I have been swimming and swam 102 lengths x15 metres, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna then planted more lavenders and a hydrangea on coming home. Just had a bath and dh has gone to piano concert.

Silkierabbit · 14/05/2023 23:36

Have some new shoes. Asked Floof if he liked them and he looked me up and down and bruuped so cat approved. But the shoe box is an issue, it only takes half of Floof, he keeps trying.

HelenaJustina · 15/05/2023 06:38

Happy Mother’s Day for yesterday those who were celebrating. Such a busy weekend but lots accomplished. This week will be punctuated by DC3’s birthday.

bizzey · 15/05/2023 12:09

Happy Mothers Day 💐 for those who were celebrating yesterday...and in fact even to those of us who were not !!

All your garden talk and pictures are spurring me on to get my garden organised.

Well....by that I mean ring my gardener to arrange a time for him to come around 😂😂!

With the weather and timing constraints, I am late this year in the after winter tidy up

I like to think though that I am helping the bees and other wild life with my overgrown wilderness!!🐝🐝🐞🪲!!

bizzey · 15/05/2023 21:19

Rollercoaster update from me 😀!

I have to take DS back to hospital tomorrow for more tests and things ...( They phoned me this morning!)

BUT ...BUT ...

Other DS ....got the JOB !!

( i would like to think it was mummy's special money buying him his interview clothes...but that might be wierd 😅😅😂!)

And Gardener booked !

Happy days !

( We will ignore the cardio issue !)

halfpasteleven · 15/05/2023 22:49

Aw congrats to your DS @bizzey and good luck with the cardio for your other DS

In bed with cramps ( so painful) so I'm happy to browse Mumsnet tonight

bizzey · 15/05/2023 23:29

Thank you xx

mathanxiety · 16/05/2023 03:36

This news may be a tad too exciting for the thread, but the hummingbirds have arrived.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/05/2023 03:43

I spent the afternoon at Emergency with Havoc who had a very high fever and was hot to the touch. Doctor determined a virus and okay to let temp run high - up to 40(!) - and some other instructions. This cold virus is brutal. It's 7 days for me so far and I'm coughing so badly at times I am gagging and sweating. No sleep past two nights. Ugh. Hoping Havoc does not get the same cough. 🤞

In other news the weather is hot, but gorgeous. I made cupcakes yesterday with cherries, almonds and coconut. Flavoured with vanilla and a titch of almond extract. Un-iced they are muffins, but with cream cheese icing 😛 they are cupcakes. Win-win.

HelenaJustina · 16/05/2023 06:13

We’re doing ‘no-mow May’ for the third year Bizzey and so joining you on the overgrown madness. It was amazing for our grass during the long hot summer last year though, even though we had started cutting it again, it was much more drought resistant.

HelenaJustina · 16/05/2023 06:13

Obviously also good for wildlife and minibeasts!
