Miniature train sounds fun Havoc I love trains esp steam ones and loved the miniature ones when mine were little. DS can swim but he won't go atm, think it's just an age thing. We did lots of swimming and waterpark based holidays for years which he loved.

Hope your new boss is better MissC DH will have a new boss in a month or so time, his current one is so lovely. DH asked about reducing hours to 4.5 a day and his boss said he could still have full pay if he did it in the office. We are sticking with full time at home for now but he's so kind.

DD said she earned 275 pounds for today's punting and took 5 tours.

I did a bit of carpet cleaning and dh mowed the lawn. I am now having a coffee. Floof isn't happy with my carpet cleaning as it gives him a wet bottom.

mathanxiety · 30/04/2023 23:08

I set out this morning to take DD4 to her Sunday morning job, forgetting that the neighbourhood was festooned with No Parking leaflets taped to trees yesterday in advance of a 5k run, and found that the run stewards had placed a barrier across the south end of the alley, forcing us to go north instead. We ended up going eight blocks east, then three blocks south, then ten blocks west on the main street instead of a trip of about seven blocks that should have taken us in a general westerly direction. If DD had walked, she would have been on time, but it was drizzling.

Then I had to beg a pair of stewards - both in high viz - to move a barrier to let me get home, after retracing my steps, driving many blocks east of home (all exits northbound off the main street were blocked by police cars), then north, then west on a side street. There are downsides to living so close to the high school.

While DD was at her job, I got some ironing done while it poured rain. Dcat jumped onto the ironing board to help. I am definitely Living The Life here.

Silkierabbit · 01/05/2023 13:17

DH and I have been swimming, to jacuzzi and sauna, we went to our local holiday inn and joined, they said just dh could join and I would have 5 free guests passes so doing that for this month, then I will join later.

DD has gone to do her punting job. DS has just been ipadding.

Floof has been catting, just lazing around, eating and cuddling.

DH is just back from dropping DD off in town. We had a McDonalds lunch.

Lemonsandlemonade · 01/05/2023 18:16

Sounds a good deal at the local holiday inn. Silkie.

DS lost a shoe today as he must have kicked it off while in his pushchair. Am now £36 down!

DS been lovely today. Have enjoyed the extra day off.

I have tackled the kitchen so it is now tidy.

Math my trick to ironing is not doing it 🫣 I don’t have the staying power.

HelenaJustina · 01/05/2023 18:51

I met up with one of my sisters today, totally fab to spend time with her. Now making scones for DC and looking at the uniform ironing pile.

MissConductUS · 01/05/2023 19:28

Helena, one of the things I love about this thread is the wide range of ages we have - mums with wee babies and mums with adult children.

Math, sorry you had such a runaround. Are you in the city proper or one of the suburbs? My cats hate it when I iron. I think it's the noise the iron makes that bothers them. They love jumping on the bed when I'm trying to change the sheets.

Silkie, does your Holiday Inn sell memberships to use the pool? Here hotel pools are usually for hotel guests only.

Lemons, that's maddening about the shoe. If you can buy the same pair, save the one you have left as a spare. I do minimal ironing. DH has no iron shirts, but I still touch them up a bit.

I saw Mr Duck dive fishing today at lunchtime. He dove underwater and was down there for a good 20 seconds, then emerged about 30 feet away. I couldn't see if he caught anything or not, as he was fairly far away.

My iPhone started playing one of those photo memories for me today. It was pictures I'd taken five years ago when we were visiting uni's with DS. He's come so far since then!

MissC I always thought Holiday Inn pools were for hotel guests only but when we stayed for visiting DS I noticed as we stayed in two different ones slight differences and saw in small print they are franchises owned by others separately and trade as Holiday Inn. This gives some detail and seems to imply US market is similar. Its very well branded as I always assumed it was all managed hotels. https://www.ihgplc.com/en/-/media/017369D8DE334050A7AE8EE86FC979D6.ashx#:~:text=Through%20our%20business%20model%2C%20we%20predominantly%20franchise%20our,and%20fee%20margins%2C%20with%20limited%20requirements%20for%20capital.

Anyway the swimming pools and gyms the Holiday Inn does not advertise you can pay to join. But when we went I noticed a aqua aerobics class on which wasn't for us and wondered about this. It seems and I am guessing here the pools are privately either owned or managed and the hotels by DS are in a group called YouFit and the hotels our one is in is managed by a group called Spirit. Via these you can pay a monthly membership and use any pools in the group, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, fitness classes and small gym. Its open from 6.30am to 9pm which is good. At old one we often had whole place to ourselves as they aren't well advertised at all. Its quite reasonably priced as well. It seems to have some link to Holiday Inn as we got a free drink and a food voucher.

Hi all, I wrote a post yesterday but it hasn't appeared. I'm currently waiting for my routine mammogram - the mobile unit is in town.

Silkierabbit · 02/05/2023 18:43

Hope mammo went OK Iwandered

DS has been discharged finally, having a takeaway Indian meal to celebrate. Thank you so much to everyone on here for helping me through that and cancer, you are all amazing.

Cahms call tomorrow and education next Tuesday.

DD is studying for A level mocks.

I got results of abdominal ct in on the online system and it looks good, looks like suitable for diep, no bone, abdominal, lung signs of cancer and the mass found on adrenals before has remained stable.

Just having takeaway now. Floof was super excited that dh was returning and with food, he went trilling all round the house.

Lemonsandlemonade · 02/05/2023 19:01

I wandered- Hope mammogram went ok,

silkie - woohoo 🥳. That’s wonderful news. Enjoy your Indian take away.

Found out today someone who looked after me passed away suddenly at the weekend. It was sad.

Had fish and chips for tea as was in a rush,

IWanderedLonely · 02/05/2023 21:59

Silkies that's brilliant-finally! So pleased for you and DS.
Mammogram went fine, they're very well thought out little units, I imagine they get a much higher take-up doing it this way.

halfpasteleven · 02/05/2023 22:43

I will raise a poppadom in a toast to you @Silkie
What wonderful news finally
So glad your other results look good as well.
A happy day for your family. Enjoy x

mathanxiety · 03/05/2023 00:37

Great news, Silkies. What an ordeal you've been through.

IWandered glad your mammogram went well and hopefully your results will be clear.

MissC I am in a suburb right at the city limits.

HelenaJustina · 03/05/2023 06:37

Happy news all round Silkie congratulations!

HildaTablet · 03/05/2023 07:57

Great news Silkie, I have nothing more celebratory than a cup of tea here (at 8am) but I’m raising it to you anyway.

Deathraystare · 03/05/2023 18:57

I went to the green grocer to get some black grapes. Got into work and ate one . It had seeds in it. I looked at the package and it said seeded. I thought that meant they had been de-seeded. How weird is it that it took me looking at the description in French (not a language I know well) to realise it meant WITH seeds/pips. Duh!

Not as much fun to eat. Blast it!

Deathraystare · 03/05/2023 18:59

Congrats to Silkie and I wandered. I won't toast you as my bladder is full! I will however go and empty it!!!!

MissConductUS · 03/05/2023 20:46

Well done Silkie, what a war you've had to fight.

I'm back at the office after my offsite meeting. My soon to depart boss got arsey with his assistant when he couldn't find a paper that was the first one in a folder she had given him. It went downhill from there.

Silkierabbit · 03/05/2023 22:58

Thanks everyone.

Sorry to hear that Lemons

I have just been swimming with DH at the local Holiday Inn, swam 97 lengths and used the steam room, its 15 metres rather than normal length. Was busier than the one where we used to visit for DS but still good.

DS got a bit agitated last night when DH said to him he could take him anywhere now including to France and we can go everywhere. DS is very frightened of leaving house and got stressed by DH and threw the remote and some things at the TV and then his ipad which broke. I calmed him down by saying he didn't need to go anywhere but sad to see him like this, he loved going out with us before hospital / police. He's been OK today but DH did remove TV and put upstairs which terrified Floof. Floof is terrified of TVs as he sees his reflection and panics so he's been upstairs avoiding due to TV cat. He hid under the stairs then in Silkiecat's old cat bed. He looked cute in that, his tail was hanging out and he could barely fit.

I had cahms and his autism keyworker call today, we have a new cahms person but she is better listens to us and also has had breast cancer incl chemo and Tamoxifen herself so understands that. The keyworker has also changed but she is lovely.

DD came back from school and saw broken ipad and said which person decided they needed to come round and upset my brother? I had to explain it was DH.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/05/2023 00:41

Silkie, swimming sounds like it's going...swimmingly. 😁
Ms, office personalities... 🤦‍♀️

Spent the day out with Havoc after some chores first thing this morning. It's a bit hazy today and there's a potential for thundershowers tonight. We do tend to get some late spring lightning storms due to high humidity with warmth during the day then temps dropping (should drop close to 10 degrees tonight) in the evening. ⛈️

IVFlife · 04/05/2023 00:50

I drank diet coke with dinner for the 1st time since October.

(For context have just found out IVF has failed so no longer any need to be angelic with what I put into body. )

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/05/2023 00:52

@IVFlife I'm sorry. 💐

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/05/2023 06:17

@IVFlife

i am sorry re your IVF. It’s such a hard thing the iVf journey. Can I ask what cycle was it? Take my advice with a pinch of salt but when I did ivf I had all the nutritional books and the healthy tips and in the finish I ended up concentrating on making sure my mental health and well-being was as good at it could be and aside from taking some recommended vitamin supplements if I fancied something not so great I would have it as the whole thing is hard enough anyway.

Take some time to reboot and make sure you take care of yourself. 💐

no interesting news here

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/05/2023 06:21

Aww Silkie 💐

bizzey · 04/05/2023 08:09

Gosh ..so much to catch up on x
Silkie ...97 length 's !!!😧😧!
I doubt if I could even walk that 😁😂!

Sorry to hear of people's troubles ...but you are all so brave and strong . X

I am up early today ...not sure if it is up early ...or just not gone to sleep properly?

But I was blitzing my kitchen last night ....and for a Non - Cook person ....I have an awful lot of spices and jars sort of thing 😂.

I need to cull my ' bits and bobs "

What are your most essential spices and herbs ?

I did actually have to confirm with DS what year we are in now ...as I thought the 2017 on the date of the jar sounded a wee bit out of date 😂😂😂!!!
