Thanks Half and Lemons Discharge agreed today for 2nd May and a plan put in place, its 1 visit every 3 weeks by 1 person so not ideal but much better than could have been. The rest will be online / phone and just with me for ideas etc. Lemons I am not entirely sure why another assessment is being done, I think its to correct errors in first two but they had already done that but not typed it up but they appear with change of staff to have lost that so are redoing but its all very friendly and supportive if not useful. Though of course we had one person today suggest as DS had made a hole in the wall maybe people should come more so he got used to them. Hmm Thankfully everyone else overruled them. And the person who is tasked with coming every 3 weeks kind of implied in a coded way to me they would not really come they just had to put it in a plan.

Deathraystare · 27/04/2023 17:55

@bizzey

Using shop bought pastry nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of Chefs cannot seem to make pastry and for quickness use shop bought!

@HildaTablet

I once saw a pheasant in Mum's garden (New Forest - not exactly a rare site around there!). It marched about like it owned the place and according to my friend they are very terrortorial so probably thought it was part of his manor!!!

My Niece, Nephew and I saw one in Exbury Gardens. I asked them both to be quiet and they actually managed it! The kids that is not the bird!!

Deathraystare · 27/04/2023 18:10

We actually have some birds nesting on the top of our local hospital. Just wish I could remember the name! It is two words. A bird of Prey. They have nested and bred for a long time and keep coming back. I used to hear them screeching to each other! I think Peregrine Falcon but cannot remember!!

Lemonsandlemonade · 27/04/2023 21:07

Silkie that seems like at least some people are seeing sense re your son. I just don’t understand how this can happen.

DS neck is quite sore. DH had to travel to 4 pharmacies to get the medication that DS needed.

Am very much looking forward to a four day weekend this weekend and next weekend.

halfpasteleven · 27/04/2023 21:18

And the person who is tasked with coming every 3 weeks kind of implied in a coded way to me they would not really come they just had to put it in a plan.

Thank God for people like this. Someone with a bit of cop on re acting in the best interests of your son.

MissConductUS · 27/04/2023 21:26

Silkie, that's great progress regarding your DS. As the saying goes, the government will always do the right thing after every other course of action is tried.

I didn't know pheasants disturbed flower beds. We have some in our area, but I keep most of my flowers on the deck to avoid the all-consuming deer.

I have no idea what time DS will be home from his happy hour at work. Tonight is our takeaway night, so I can pick him up at the train station while DS gets dinner. The station is only a few miles from us, so it's not really a bother to drop him there in the morning or pick him up at night. I'm just amused at how frugal he is about the $4 parking fee. 😁

Poor baba Lemons hope the antibiotics kick in quick and he starts to recover in time for the weekend. Only one more work day for me and then 3 days off, can’t wait.

3 of my DC have had a three day week this week due to strike day and an INSET, they are only in school 3 days next week due to Bank Holiday and another strike day. They are smug, DC4 is jealous!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/04/2023 21:58

@Lemonsandlemonade Re: your ds. Did doctor give a diagnosis? Reason I ask is the sx you describe are very specific and are sx of meningitis. Not trying to be alarmist, but mentioning out of concern.

Silkierabbit · 27/04/2023 23:34

Hope your DS gets better Lemons

Yes hopefully making progress and at least discharge is happening albeit a few days late but no need to return. Only concerning thing was education which was a bit weird when they said they would make a plan without us and there would be 5 points before he was allowed back into a school. 🤔But they said they didn't know what those 5 points where. And they were meeting a SEMH school, not sure how suitable that will be violent kids with a mute one.

Silkierabbit · 27/04/2023 23:34

And tumble Floof.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 25: Calmly through the day
mathanxiety · 28/04/2023 02:56

Silkies, hopefully all that's left is box ticking, and you'll all be left alone once the discharge is official.

Lemons fingers crossed DS doesn't have anything serious and will recover soon.

Prok thinking of you. Hope all is well.

Helena poor DC4! My DCs spent a few years with some in RC elementary and some in (state) public high school, with days off that never seemed to match.

We've been hearing a good few woodpeckers recently, which is about as much wildlife as we're likely to get. Last year the hummingbirds arrived just about now and glared at DD3 when they found I hadn't put out the feeder. Night time temperatures are too cold for them this year. I hope they'll stay somewhere warmer until the weather improves.

HildaTablet · 28/04/2023 13:38

I dream of having hummingbirds, math 😍

Lemons, hope your little one is feeling better soon.

Keep on keeping on, Silkie, it’s a process but you’re nearly there. DS must be so glad to be safely back at home with you all.

Is it Red Kites? They are one of my favourites.

MissConductUS · 28/04/2023 20:19

We get hummingbirds, but they don't come around until my flowers on the deck open up, so June at the earliest. I am not a fan of the woodpeckers. They are a noisy bunch and sometimes like to peck at our cedar siding.

lemons, I hope your DS has improved with the antibiotics.

Silike, I have always expected to find one of the cats in the washer or dryer, but they have never gotten into them. I don't know how you'd get Floof out if he didn't want to leave.

DS got home from his happy hour about 8:00, so dinner was late last night. I had a shrimp empanada, which was fab. We're expecting rain all weekend, which is a bit grim.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/04/2023 14:04

Wondering - if you like red kites you should come to mid wales they are here in abundance.

Your poor DC4 Helena.

Hope you’re ok Prok.

DS is much better thanks he hates the antibiotics but will take them with the promos of chocolate after it.

my throat is still sore by the looks it’s tonsillitis but I can’t get doctors appointments.

Had a lovely morning at the local lake. We had ice cream.

Silkierabbit · 29/04/2023 18:17

Hoping you are OK @Prokupatuscrakedatus and thinking of you and wishing you and your family all the best.

MissC Floof is actually very easy to get to move as he is a food magnet so the word tuna will see him fly through the air, also a cuddle magnet and loves games of ball. The only time have trouble moving him is when he is eating on my step to the room entrance and he eats for ages. He does normally move after a couple of minutes. He has been next to me on the bed this morning with his head on my pillow.

DS has been unsettled. The Maudsley had the idea to put more demands on him but this did not go well, he didn't eat breakfast or lunch and shut himself in a cupboard. He's out now but think I might ignore some of this advice, its clearly more than he can cope with atm.

Silkierabbit · 29/04/2023 18:21

I love birds. I looked up jobs on Skomer with puffins but gone for this year but said one had gone to Ascension Island after so I looked that up. It looks very nice. And saw about the world's most remote inhabited island next to it https://www.tristandc.com/index.php . That was quite therapeutic when they were all planning on being round my house. DD has been working at her punting job. DS will not leave the house so have to stay with him.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/04/2023 18:36

Silkie I too would ignore the advice as you know your son the best and know from day to day what he can manage. I am sorry can’t offer more advice but I know you’ve got this.

Had a lovely day with DS today he
was a love all day.

WanderingaboutwithaYorkshire · 29/04/2023 19:38

Lemons, if I come to Wales it will rain. We seem plagued with rainy days away. It rained for most of our few days away. Came home and the suns come out. On the plus side I did five lots of washing and got it all dry.

had to take the dog to the vets as they’ve got an eye infection. I’ve got a bruised tongue from the headbut the poor thing gave me when trying to administer the drops. Not quite sure how I am supposed to do this. I got a super smacks snacky treat for good dogs who oblige and have their drops. Most of it’s gone and the eye drops bottle is still full.

in other news we had a Sainsbury’s chicken and ham pie for dinner tonight. I can thoroughly recommend. Too much going on with vets and washing today to think about cooking but I will be cook tomorrow.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/04/2023 20:02

Wandering we do have nice days in Wales I promise 😉. Sorry about your poorly dog.

We had steak and sweet potato fries for dinner.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/04/2023 20:49

It's so nice to read everyone's news.😊
Lemons, glad ds is better. Hope you are bwtter with ice cream. 😋
Echt, I definitely share that cleaning satisfaction! I used my steam cleaner on my balcony yesterday to loosen all the mold etc around the glass before wiping then used it on the sliding door tracks. I felt quite accomplished afterward.
Silkie, I hope ds settles a bit. Is there anything special you do to help him when overwhelmed? ❤️
Prok, hoping you and dh are ok. ❤️

Havoc was awake until almost midnight last night so that was three nights in a row actually of not much sleep for us. The issue is due to missing nap time then falling asleep too late in the day. About and hour ago had just packed up everything and put Havoc in stroller to go out and there was Havoc sound asleep. So, being the wise mummy I am 😂😂😂 I'm finishing laundry and letting Havoc have the much needed nap, still in the stroller, as I have learned to not disturb.
Have taken chilli from freezer for dinner and plan to just cook up some rice to go with. Might cook up a ham for easy sandwiches while I'm at it. Currently staring a deck thinking I should give it a quick rinse with a few buckets hot water...

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2023 14:13

Thanks so much Lemons Glad you had a nice day.

Hope Havoc slept better

Hope your dog is better Wandering

DD did her punting job, she got a bit sunburnt yesterday though only 18C.

Had a Chinese last night and DS ate it all and was much better. He's had hot chocolate and croissant this morning. When he was overwhelmed as a younger child he used to love cuddles but now he's older he prefers to be left alone. I always tell him we love him and also giving things as choices helps and taking demands off helps. And he likes to listen to you moaning about other things.

I hoovered the upstairs, had some fluff from Floof on his favourite spots. DH has being playing ball with Floof, I played string. Watching Farmer Wants a Wife Australia. DH is doing a BBQ, first of the year, with lamb kebabs and we will also have coleslaw with raisins and minted new potato salad. Floof whimpers every time DH leaves the house, I can settle him in a minute but quite sweet how in love Floof is. We are thinking about doing some gardening this afternoon, it may not get further than a thought. DD has booked a week's holiday abroad with her boyfriend. I really want to go swimming again but trying to work out how to do it now Holiday Inn is over and we have DS. DH used to come too at HI and it did him good but not sure DS can be left atm but I like swimming with DH and chatting to him. I looked for David Lloyd and the price has gone up so much, what it is for 1 person is the price I used to pay for 4 of us when kids were at primary so about 7 years ago. Though kids are still cheapish.

MissConductUS · 30/04/2023 16:15

Lemons, I'm glad to hear your DS is doing better. Wandering, administering pet meds is always a challenge. I hope your dog is on the mend. Neither of our cats has been ill in ages, thank goodness.

It rained all day yesterday, about an inch and a half, so cooking out wasn't on the cards. DH picked up a rotisserie chicken, and we had that with rice. It's not raining now, but it will be later, so we still have to come up with a dinner plan. The upside to the rain is that the lawn is coming in nicely.

That's a good strategy to give your DS choices, Silkie, it lets him feel some measure of control, which was clearly lacking when he was in inpatient treatment.

I have an all day, off-site meeting next Wednesday, which I am not particularly looking forward to, but it's close. And I've had a bit of good news at work. My boss, who can be a bit of a mansplaining twat, is leaving at the end of June. Let's hope the next one is better. I need to work for two more years before I retire, so there's that as well.

OP posts:
HelenaJustina · 30/04/2023 18:37

I’m humming the Meghan Trainor song on your behalf Miss hope the next boss is better! Two years doesn’t sound very long to be honest, I’m at least 30 years from retirement!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/04/2023 19:11

Good morning everyone. 😊
I finally made a banana bread which I flavoured with vanilla and a touch of almond extract and added slivered almonds and dark choco chips.
Havoc was asleep shortly after 7:30pm last night (yea!!!) and up at 6:30am, which was fine as it meant I had time to get the baking and a load of laundry done early. Lazy day otherwise watching a couple docs previously recorded. Was nice and warm yesterday at about 25c, but is 10c cooler today so feels rather chilly. Had a good day at the park and a ride on the miniature train.
Silkie, sounds like it's turning around with a lovely sweet brekkie. 😋Does DS swim?
