Thank you.

Still here, reading the information you all post. I now find watching the news too depressing and so use this thread and your information to keep up to date. Thank you all.

Also thought there was an interesting article in this weeks (London) Jewish Chronicle:
https://www.thejc.com/life-and-culture/all/ukraine-re-discovers-its-jewish-writers-LFD97WKWqEpz8n0pPJT9e

(Most of the JC this week was completely dominated with the crisis in Israel - I am still lurking here, but been a bit distracted by that)

I hope so! ... and you know, its encouraging that its almost certainly going to be Ukranian good news, since the Russian advance is as effective as a troop of sickly starfish.

ExpatInSlavikLand · 26/03/2023 09:35

Morning everyone, reporting in from around 50 miles away from the Slovak-Ukrainian border.

Glad I found this thread.

Slava Ukraini!

Thanks all, also hoping for good news.

Just reposting this thread by Pavel Podvig on the weapons in Belarus issue which is clarifying in a good way: threadreaderapp.com/thread/1540978456816656384.html

Just in case the Mail start blathering on about all this being a new threat to the likes of the UK It's worth remembering there were Soviet controlled, potentially Warpac delivered tac nukes positioned in eastern Europe for most if not all of the Cold War.

Not great but nothing new under the Sun etc....

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 26/03/2023 10:45

And let's face it, when you're talking nukes where they start off from is a lot lot less important than where they land. (That ... might not actually be all that reassuring)

A twitter person keeps an updated nuclear threat list which is mildly amusing, Ill have to check if he's put this on the list yet.

... not yet, it seems.

Key Takeaways

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the predictable next information operation to discourage Ukrainian resistance and disrupt Western support for Ukraine as Russian offensives culminate and Ukraine prepares to launch counter-offensives in an interview with a state-owned Russian news channel on March 25.

Putin pushed the false narrative that the West cannot sustain weapons provision to Ukraine due to limited Western production and hyperbolized Russia’s potential to mobilize its own defense industrial base (DIB).

Putin advanced another information operation by announcing that Russia will deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus by July 1 and renewed tired information operations about the potential for nuclear escalation.

Russian conventional forces may intervene in Wagner Group’s offensive around Bakhmut to prevent the offensive from culminating prematurely.

Russian forces do not have the degree of fire control over Ukrainian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) to Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and likely other areas of the front that Russian milbloggers claim.

Russian forces conducted limited attacks along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line.

Russian forces continued to conduct ground attacks in and around Bakhmut and gained limited ground in the city.

Russian forces reportedly conducted a mass rotation of forces in Nova Kakhovka on the east (left) bank of the Dnipro River.

Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin accused Russian authorities on March 25 of rewriting history to cut out Wagner by forcing state-controlled media outlet RT to cut some coverage of the Wagner Group.

The Ukrainian Resistance Center reported on March 24 that Moscow elites are competing for funding to β€œrestore” occupied territories and really plan to use the projects to further their own interests.
