Do you know any adult who still does that?

One of my friends and his brother still walk the stairs in their house on all four.

They're both in their mid twenties.

They seem to think it's completely normal and everyone does that!

Is it?

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at the legion of MNs who go up and down stairs on all fours like Linda Blair in the exorcist.

There's a lot of dirty dogs here who need training

Woof woof, many have tried and miserably failed 😈😈😈😈

Tamaix · 21/03/2023 18:50

Yes, in the comfort of my own home. Makes me feel like a child again... Pretending to be an animal or something haha

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 21/03/2023 18:55

I have never encountered it. Just tried it and can confirm it isn't v comfortable with shallow stairs.

module · 21/03/2023 18:55

I first did this when pregnant, now I still do it sometimes due to dodgy back and knees. I don't do it if someone's behind me.

Now did you do it fast.
like a run, skipping a few steps, using you hands for extra stability and speed?

If not then go try it again.

Bleachmycloths · 21/03/2023 18:57

Yuk. Makes me think of The Exorcist!

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/03/2023 18:58

My mind was blown by the last thread.

Still never got to the bottom of WHY.

But PP raises the game by saying she also all 4s DOWN the stairs.

They aren't crawling like a crab backwards and spinning their heads 🤣🤣🤣🤣

CatOnTheChair · 21/03/2023 19:00

I go upstairs, at my PiL house, using my hands. The stairs are fucking steep. I also come down them backwards.
All other stairs I use normally.

Thindog · 21/03/2023 19:01

I do it quite often. It keeps your arms strong.

When I was waiting for knee replacements for arthritis, one of the questions asked was , " Can you get upstairs by yourself?" I replied, "Of course, I could use my arms to go upstairs if I had no legs!"

Ponderoveryonder · 21/03/2023 19:02

Oh wow I just totally skimmed over the stairs bit and thought all these men were walking round the house on all fours, just like from room to room 🤣
stairs is not nearly as bad.

OnaBegonia · 21/03/2023 19:02

How is being awkwardly bent over easier to upstairs? than just walking??Very odd.

It’s tends to be a fast motion, basically running up the stairs but your hands help you.

What an elegant way to traverse a boring staircase. I’m sure Audrey Hepburn got down on all fours like a jackal to dementedly speed-paw up and down the stairs in the privacy and comfort of her own home 🙄 because it’s normal. Sure.

ToriLynn · 21/03/2023 19:09

I did this for a few days when we had our banister replaced and I was carrying my baby DS (very newborn) as I was still recovering and didn't feel safe carrying him up or down without something to grab into if needed, but just doing it everyday sounds strange to me!

golddustwomen · 21/03/2023 19:10

I do this when I'm bursting for a pee.

MysteryBelle · 21/03/2023 19:10

One hoof away from being featured in those shows where people pretend they’re goats grazing on all fours and making animal noises.

Oh that’s when I most often do it too. For the speed

Novatherova · 21/03/2023 19:11

Mind blown never ever heard of an adult doing this without an injury being the cause.

I did it when broke my ankle then broke my toe which was wayyyyyy more painful then the ankle weirdly.

Would definitely give me the ick. They're not spiders crawling along.

If it was a long sweeping staircase I'd probably be found sliding down the banister, I'm sure that minxy glint in Audrey Hepburns eyes would see her tempted too, and I bet she'd do it with the upmost elegance.

My thoughts too!

Mitsahne · 21/03/2023 19:13

Wtf? No, I don't go upstairs on all fours because I'm an adult. If I saw anyone over 5 doing this I would assume they had some kind of issue or difficulty.

I do it sometimes and I'm in my 40ies 😂.
