Things you like cooked/made 'WRONG'

I love a floury cheese sauce, especially in macaroni cheese - do not like the cheese pull everyone tries for. Bland and floury please.

I like undercooked pastry, so it's still a bit squidgy...soggy bottom pies are the best!

The burnt/brown crisps that everyone else leaves. Not bothered about 'eyes' on potato products...adds to the crunch! No so much any green bits on chips/crisps but won't leave them either.

I like flat fizzy drinks too, including prosecco/champagne; prefer it, fewer burps!

I don't make bovril into a drink, but spread it on toast (like marmite).

Yes, yes, yes to the misshapen malteesers and undercooked cake middles.

I quite like melted salted butter with an equal amount of melted dark chocolate.

FartyBrainedHippo · 21/03/2023 15:12

Tuna steak cooked all the way through please - not pink in the middle. Actually, all fish cooked until it's dry and flakey, none of that wobbly translucent ickyness please, or I'll gag.

MissingGrandstand · 21/03/2023 15:23

I was really enjoying this thread until Earl grey with milk 😂 @TheInterceptor are you ok?!

Soggy fries. None of this thrice cooked crispy chunky chips nonsense, give me a McDonald's fry that looks like it leapt out of the fryer any day!

Also second soggy pastry, and stale crisps. Love a stale cracker as well.

Primary school mashed potato with lumps in served from an ice cream baller, absolutely top notch.

Clearly I like mush as I'd go for underdone scrambled eggs over overdone!

skin on mashed potatoes
unpeeled raw carrots
frozen peas

I think I might just be a lazy slob!

CountingMareep · 21/03/2023 23:23

You know all those pretty looking shiny bright green veg in pretty dishes on recipe cards/books/telly/Instagram?

Well, I hate to break it to you, but they’re underdone. Broccoli, cabbage and kale taste best when the green just takes on a slight olive tinge - not so the life and soul has been boiled out of them, but just enough to be yielding and slightly sweet. You want bright green, you make a salad.

Ilovetea33 · 22/03/2023 03:15

Overcooked pasta and overcooked vegetables, especially green beans, they need to be nice and limp. Can't be doing with all that "al dente" stuff.

Well, the thing about lumps in mashed spuds is, that’s what tells you it’s potatoes and not dried stuff from a packet.

Some people make bovril into a drink? Heathens.

It must always be on toast or thick 'claggy' bread with butter.

Deathraystare · 24/03/2023 19:38

I prefer pasta to be cooked no al dente! There. I have said it!!

sharp hard cheese with honey and black pepper. Not sure if that counts as wrong?

Sounds pretty good actually…

My teething baby likes frozen peas 😂
skin on mash and carrots sounds rustic 👍

I like bovril on toast with cream cheese lol. I thought it was more like marmite! I only learned recently or is supposed to be a drink 😂

SeaDee · 28/03/2023 08:32

I love stone cold rock hard toast. I generally put it in the toaster half an hour before I'm going to eat it then pile it high with butter and marmite (or jam or marmalade)

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 28/03/2023 09:01

Almost black toast left to go cold before 'buttering' although I don't like butter so use marg 😱

Stale Jaffa Cakes so they crunch rather than squidge

Cold baked beans straight from the tin, Branston are my bean of choice currently. Used to be Heinz but they are shite now

Agree about the bacon, crispy so it snaps

Twice, sometimes thrice, toasted crumpets so they crunch

Zola1 · 28/03/2023 09:13

I love stale biscuits 😬 the kids will shout me and say mum, this top biscuit has gone soft do you want it? The answer is always yes

Zola1 · 28/03/2023 09:19

Over cooked pasta for me, and also under cooked oven chips. If my partner I'd eating chips, he makes a little Zola pile of all the squashy ones.
Chocolate thats a bit too warm and onbthe verge of melting (left in the car by accident or whatever)
Another fan of soggy pastry too

My family think I'm vile

ehb102 · 28/03/2023 09:34

Yorkshire pudding done under the meat with an extra egg so it's puddingy. Stodgy. Not the perfect Yorkshire Pudding I had from a Yorkshire lady. That was crunchy and not much but air.

Once had a packet of randoms melt and fuse together into my me giant random in a warm car. It was sooooo good lol

L1ttledrummergirl · 28/03/2023 12:17

Frozen rolos.

More a serving thing than a cooking thing, but beans must not be on toast. Beans beside toast please.

I put my beans on fried bread-it doesn't go soggy like toast does.

DuckyShincracker · 28/03/2023 12:37

Stale quavers! Food of the gods!

Hedjwitch · 28/03/2023 12:51

Omelette and scrambled eggs must be overdone and slightly rubbery. Too slimy otherwise.

Boiled potatoes should be slightly underdone so not mushy.

FrillyGoatFluff · 28/03/2023 12:52

Warm, flat coke!
