Things you like cooked/made 'WRONG'

I love a floury cheese sauce, especially in macaroni cheese - do not like the cheese pull everyone tries for. Bland and floury please.

I like undercooked pastry, so it's still a bit squidgy...soggy bottom pies are the best!

The burnt/brown crisps that everyone else leaves. Not bothered about 'eyes' on potato products...adds to the crunch! No so much any green bits on chips/crisps but won't leave them either.

I like flat fizzy drinks too, including prosecco/champagne; prefer it, fewer burps!

Earl Grey tea with milk, not lemon. So shoot me.

PatterdalePatty · 20/03/2023 22:05

Also a fan of set omelettes and set white on a poached egg. These barely cooked spermy eggs can do one

Oysterbabe · 20/03/2023 22:05

I hate omelettes with a runny middle - well cooked all the way through please.
I also don’t like warmed plates, it takes ages for the food to cool and I prefer my food tepid. My mum is horrified that I eat from cold plates!

My MIL serves food the temperature of lava on plates that are hotter than the sun, even for the kids. I'm like 'kids the lunch is ready. Don't touch or eat it, just sit for 10 minutes'
Drives me mad.
I never warm plates.

I like plates warmed so much the food sizzles!

Maraudingmarauders · 20/03/2023 22:08

I like my fruit underripe! Not just bananas, but I love a firm crisp plum or pear etc.

I have a friend thah loves cold crumpets. Toasts them, puts them on the side and goes back to them a hour later. Travesty.

AtomicBlondeRose · 20/03/2023 22:10

Yes to burnt sausages and cream in carbonara! And NO wet eggs thank you very much.

Posted too soon!
My colleague once got me the perfect bacon barm, he ordered it by saying "burn it, burn it again and when it's fit for the bin, put it on a barm for her"

I don't eat meat these days, but love this!

If bacon doesn't snap in half when you try to bend it, it's not cooked properly IMO.

Tiredandbored · 20/03/2023 22:14

Love the skin on custard or a white sauce. Have been known to make a white sauce and let it cool, peel off the skin to eat, then return every 10mins or so for the next layer...

mrsfollowill · 20/03/2023 22:14

I'm funny about eggs- fried egg pop the yolk. flip it over and fry until crispy on both sides and serve smothered in HP sauce- cannot eat a runny yolk to save my life and as for snotty egg white - just no! Scrambled egg only if solid and I suppose what some would say is rubbery- I boil it in the pan and loves any burnt bits. That said, when I have steak it is dripping with blood/juice - I have a friend who orders fillet steak 'well done' 😱

Eranzer · 20/03/2023 22:18

Yes to firm yolks and cremated bacon!

I also cremate my steak to DP's horror.

FavouriteDogMug · 20/03/2023 22:18

I like pineapple on my pizza and even on burgers and I do prefer a cream sauce on my carbonara, not keen on egg based sauces, and my meat well done.

StayGoldenPonyGirl · 20/03/2023 22:19

I have found out, only recently by having them in a restaurant, that I do like spermy/wet eggs but I have to eat them really quickly before my brain takes in what my mouth it doing. If I think about it too much it's game over and I can't eat them.

You can keep your packet of crisps - just let me have the crunchy up little bits left in the corners of the packet.

Itsonlyagame · 20/03/2023 22:23

I love a runny yolk but scrambled egg and omelette need to be cooked through, hate them runny. Egg should be fully cooked when the white is mixed with the yolk IMHO. Also love cremated bacon.

My mum also used to make 'pizza' in the microwave. The base was torn up bread mixed with egg and a splash of milk squashed into a casserole dish lid and microwaved till it was set then put tomato puree mixed with tomato sauce and herbs, cheese on top and back in the microwave till it melted. Always served with sodastream coke. Absolutely loved this as a kid, much preferred it to real pizza! Not so sure I would now but might try making it for nostalgic purposes.

Groutyonehereagain · 20/03/2023 22:23

I like burned toast, a burned crust on fresh bread, very thick gravy, crispy bacon, slightly burned fried onions, soggy cornflakes…

WonderingWanda · 20/03/2023 22:24

HecticHedgehog · 20/03/2023 21:34

The crispy edges on a cake Grin

I agree

BloomingHyacinths · 20/03/2023 22:28

I love home made bread that's slightly under done. None of your brown crusty thanks.
Also cake that's a bit soggy in the middle. Ideally with a crunchy outside. Somehow happens in my oven.

WhisperingAutistic · 20/03/2023 22:33

Cheese on 'toast' done in the microwave
Basically cheese melted on warm soggy white bread.

When you get a malformed Malteaser that's like a malty bullet. Yum.

Eating Maltesers in bed right now and I would kill for a chewy malformed Malteser bullet 🙏🏼

giantwaterbottle · 20/03/2023 22:35

All the crumbs from the bottom of the cereal packet, preferably cornflakes. I used to crush the end into tiny pieces (even better when there is loads of dust) then put in the bowl with ice cold milk. Loved the first half of super crispy crumbs then the end of soggy mush. Oh craving it so much now!

Rare as hen's teeth but the sheer joy when you get one. I hope you get lucky!

takeawayandwine · 20/03/2023 22:43

I like ricotta and spinach stuffed pasta mixed up with cheese sauce and hot dog sausages. I am an affront to cooking.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/03/2023 22:46

Fig roll biscuits that are so stale they're crunchy. Yum!

Nellieinthebarn · 20/03/2023 22:47

I prefer flabby pasta to al dente, I also like chip shop chips luke warm. Scrambled eggs must be over cooked and rubbery. Sausages and bacon burnt, roast bbef cooked all the way through, and I too like Earl Grey with milk not lemon. Most of these things are down to my Nan's dreadful cooking when I was growing up.

I also like salad cream more than mayonaise, angel delight with tinned fruit and cheap frozen pizza with ham and pineapple. I still have the tastes of 7 year old me.

tapdancingmum · 20/03/2023 22:48

I like my toast cold. Once toasted stand it on the bread board in a triangle shape to stop it going soggy. Butter then jam on it.

Crumpets have got to be toasted till nearly burnt with a hard bottom so you get a good crunch and the splinters hurt your mouth - bit served hot so the butter drips out of the holes when you bite into them 😀
