Things you like cooked/made 'WRONG'

I love a floury cheese sauce, especially in macaroni cheese - do not like the cheese pull everyone tries for. Bland and floury please.

I like undercooked pastry, so it's still a bit squidgy...soggy bottom pies are the best!

The burnt/brown crisps that everyone else leaves. Not bothered about 'eyes' on potato products...adds to the crunch! No so much any green bits on chips/crisps but won't leave them either.

I like flat fizzy drinks too, including prosecco/champagne; prefer it, fewer burps!

All the crumbs from the bottom of the cereal packet, preferably cornflakes. I used to crush the end into tiny pieces (even better when there is loads of dust) then put in the bowl with ice cold milk. Loved the first half of super crispy crumbs then the end of soggy mush. Oh craving it so much now!

I do this with branflakes, and cornflakes. In fact I sometimes get the full inner bag out and bash it with a rolling pin. Or I crush them up in the bowl before adding milk. I found out by chance last year that my DB does the exact same thing.

Most things burnt tbh!

Burnt cabbage/sprouts/broccoli are yummy

Ewwww! I had some burnt sprouts the other day. Horrid!

Obimumkinobi · 21/03/2023 00:03

All meat incinerated. Unfortunately, the "better" the restaurant, the rawer the pretentious chef wants to serve the food. I've been told "I don't understand" - understand what, exacly?! That I don't like the taste of blood?!?! Each to their own.

Tea must be piss weak (like you'd put in a baby's bottle).

Really thick, lumpy almost chunky porridge.

Another egg one here, I love eggs but they have to be cooked to within an inch of their lives. Undercooked, runny eggs turn my stomach. I mostly eat them scrambled or as omelettes and they have to be cooked solid and dry, with no slimy bits lurking in there. I also can't eat cold or lukewarm egg in any form, they have to be piping hot. Left to my own devices I often just eat scrambled egg straight out of the frying pan.

@NashvilleQueen yes to the malty bullet!! I know exactly what you mean.

Also, undercooked cake mix.

Salmon fillet roasted too long so it's all crispy.

I also like all the broken bits of crisps in packets of tortilla chips/mini poppadums/prawn crackers.

Doughy heavy bread.

UB40andaglassofwine · 21/03/2023 01:05

I love soft veg. I love spouts that I can squash with a fork. I also like hard not quite cooked chips.
Also my scrambled eggs are very over cooked to the point it stays in a clump with I put it on my under toasted toast

Rinkydinkydoodle · 21/03/2023 01:11

Burnt toast, just one shade off properly bin-worthy charcoal.
Cornflakes, once gone soggy and disintegrating. Breakfast is a shitshow in my house😂

Ponderingwindow · 21/03/2023 01:19

Hot dogs should be cooked until they blister and split. Sausages are similar, very crispy is preferred.

pasta should be soft. Al dente is underdone.

you can never use too much worcestershire sauce

tatteddear · 21/03/2023 01:47

I used to like Burgers from McD's that had been in 'the bin' (the holding area bit under a heat lamp) for the maximum time which I think was 10 minutes-they go lovely and chewy. Not sure they do that anymore. I recreate it by leaving it in the bag next to the car heater for ten minutes or so.

VanillaSox · 21/03/2023 01:57

My MIL serves food the temperature of lava on plates that are hotter than the sun, even for the kids.

Love this thread!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂

I like undercooked toast so it's more like warm bread, with an ever so slight crisp to it. Warm enough to melt the butter, which I like to lather on.

I also prefer when cereal goes soggy and soaks up the milk.

I was about to say that exact thing about toast

sashh · 21/03/2023 03:04

I'm not sure if this is cooking things 'wrong' but I cook eggs in the toastie maker. You get triangular eggs with a crisp bottom.

I also like oxo cubes, they were better when they weren't as crumbly bit as a quick snack they are perfect.

Yes! The new big wotsits are just fabulous when they are stale. Slightly chewy but still so cheesy Smile

Getting a packet after lent lol

Love stuff underdone and stodgy. Batter on fish and chips, cookies, yourkshire puddings etc.

All this

I really hate the cereal thing tho

shumway · 21/03/2023 10:36

I like crunchy under-ripe pears and nectarines, over-ripe brown and sweet bananas, burnt porridge, over-cooked nice and soft broccoli, sprouts etc.

FelicityBeedle · 21/03/2023 12:22

I almost forgot, I love drinking the juice from a Tin of tuna, it has to be in brine not spring water though.

ThreeLocusts · 21/03/2023 13:23

sharp hard cheese with honey and black pepper. Not sure if that counts as wrong?

ThreeLocusts · 21/03/2023 13:23

And I like to put just a drop of maple syrup in lots of dishes, stir fries, bolognese and others.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 21/03/2023 13:29

Stodgy rice (with a generous dose of salt) 😍

DigbyTheDigger · 21/03/2023 13:30

More a serving thing than a cooking thing, but beans must not be on toast. Beans beside toast please.

ZebraPyjamas · 21/03/2023 13:33

My children love “soggy rice” which seems to be the only way I can cook basmati rice … on the odd occasion I’ve managed to get it right they’ve been really disappointed so I don’t even try any more! I also love slightly burnt popcorn

HearMeSnore · 20/03/2023 22:52

My preferred "cheese on toast" is two slices of buttered toast with a handful of cold grated cheese sandwiched between. I don't remember how I discovered it but I much prefer it to grilled cheese.

This was one of the first things my now dh made me, buttered toast, grated cheese and Branson pickle. I still love it now🥰
