This snow is inadequate

I've had met office weather warnings of snow for the past 3 days.

Yes I've had snow but its the crap beanbag filling type snow that is gone within the hour. I want big chunky flakes bleaching down, while I sit on my sofa looking out of the window.

2/10

Wet slush here and not settling at all. At one point we had big chunky flakes which looked beautiful but they disappeared as soon as they hit the ground. School closed at 12 today despite no snow on ground, they blamed it on public transport disruptions.

2/10 here too

Thriwit · 09/03/2023 23:50

Similar here - we’ve had warnings, and it did snow pathetically earlier, with the odd heavier bit, but nothing really settling. We still have warnings, but it’s just very windy out. Very disappointing. We had much more snow in January and nowhere near the fuss.
2/10 also

dudsville · 09/03/2023 23:50

Agree. Poor quality snow.

Snowgoaway · 09/03/2023 23:51

Had fairly thick snow for several days now but want it to go as per the username!

Hapoydayz · 09/03/2023 23:51

Barely a dusting here. Gutted!

Yoloohno · 09/03/2023 23:51

Only snow we had here settled on my car. Roads clear, pavements cleared, car covered in 2 inches of the stuff. Had to clear it off before heading out.

Kickass42 · 09/03/2023 23:52

I can tell you it’s not here it’s defo settled here in Yorkshire quite deep actually wondering if my carer will be able to get here tomoz I live on a hill the road on my street seems okay ish but every where is deep gardens path etc

Yayyayitsaholiholiday · 09/03/2023 23:52

Ditto! Had a bit of snow this morning that settled, then it was thoroughly rained on this afternoon!! So disappointed! Only 15 miles away is proper thick snow……. Feel like I’m really missing out!!!

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/03/2023 23:54

Loads here. Flight cancelled. One hour being snowed on while waiting for a cab. COLD and WET.

The grass is always greener.. or the snow is always whiter

Enthrallingstoryofstillness · 09/03/2023 23:55

Yes rubbish here too in the South, I was so excited at the warnings

2/10 at best

EatingWormsMichael · 10/03/2023 00:08

It seems like the snow has focused on @Luredbyapomegranate and @Kickass42 who don't want snow, while ignoring us snow fans. It's like the weather version of a cat.

Downgraded to 1/10 for being twatty and inadequate

We had some lovely snow in Cambridgeshire, but then it started raining. 😭 It's been chucking it down for hours now.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2023 00:48

Similar here.
Bloody annoying wind too, east backing north which is noisy and makes a cold draught in my bedroom even through double glazing Hmm

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 10/03/2023 00:55

This was the thread I needed. Been feeling vaguely let down by it all evening.

Although we do have surging winds outside making it feel cosy in here, so that’s something.

I keep thinking back to the totally amazing THUNDERSNOW night of 2020 🥹

Ihatethenewlook · 10/03/2023 00:57

It’s been snowing here non stop since I got up at 6am. Hasn’t stuck at all. I ordered the dc a sled which I spent ridiculous money on next day delivery as well. At least we’ll be prepared for next time I suppose

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 10/03/2023 00:57

X post Errol, you’re missing a trick, you need to use the noise of the wind to pretend you are a polar explorer tucked up in your sleeping bag in thrilling surroundings

Scautish · 10/03/2023 01:02

The sleet gods are dominant here.

Fuck you sleet gods.

TooBigForMyBoots · 10/03/2023 01:04

I'm in the inner city at sea level and didn't think the snow was up to much earlier. It never is here.
Now it's deep.❄️😶‍🌫️❄️

Tinypetunia · 10/03/2023 01:11

It's pathetic. We had all the 'beast from the East' dire warnings and now we get a miserable couple of centimetres of the
white stuff, roads all clear and forecast to get warmer soon. A lot of fuss over nothing.

JimnJoyce · 10/03/2023 01:21

DD and i took the dog out last night at 9pm because it looked like a blizzard. Woke up this morning to about 5 inches of snow which has now mostly disappeared as its rained all afternoon

blackheartsgirl · 10/03/2023 01:24

weve got about 7 or 8 inches of lovely lush deep snow in my part of North East Wales.

[smug]

Sprogletsmum2 · 10/03/2023 01:28

It's been snowing for a solid 48 hours here, big thick flakes. Work panicked and sent everyone to work from home.
It has not stuck AT ALL!
0/10 for just being extra cold rain

Nat6999 · 10/03/2023 01:33

A good 6-8 inches in Sheffield when I last looked out & still snowing. Buses in our area have been taken off or routes cut short, schools closed tomorrow. We live on a hill on the outskirts of the city.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 10/03/2023 01:50

Loads here in Cumbria and still snowing now!

SchoolTripDrama · 10/03/2023 01:54

The snow is falling horizontally here, it seems Confused
