This snow is inadequate

I've had met office weather warnings of snow for the past 3 days.

Yes I've had snow but its the crap beanbag filling type snow that is gone within the hour. I want big chunky flakes bleaching down, while I sit on my sofa looking out of the window.

2/10

A good 6-8 inches in Sheffield when I last looked out & still snowing. Buses in our area have been taken off or routes cut short, schools closed tomorrow. We live on a hill on the outskirts of the city.

Same here just South of Sheffield and most routes through the Peak District closed.

I’m upgrading my original 2/10 to 7/10 - loads came down in the night and has settled so a snow day for us today. ❄️

It seems like the snow has focused on @Luredbyapomegranate and @Kickass42 who don't want snow, while ignoring us snow fans. It's like the weather version of a cat.

Downgraded to 1/10 for being twatty and inadequate

🤣🤣🤣

JunkinDonuts · 10/03/2023 06:59

Snowed here since the early hours of Thursday morning and not stopped, still coming down now.
I just stepped outside and it's over my ankles!

HMTheQueenMuffin · 10/03/2023 07:02

0/10 here. Snow was promised, the Dcs were looking forward to a snow day (although a discussion was had about the potential timeline of online schooling getting up and running again) and nothing.

Nothing at all!

There was a bit of taking the snow gods names in vain I can tell you.

Pretty disappointing south of Cambridge. I put out my snow boots and favourite Nordic jumper but there was nothing but a light dusting, then rain.

This is not what I moved out of London for.

gogohmm · 10/03/2023 07:14

Barely any here and it's now 9 degrees. But we live at the coast, sw so very unusual to get significant snow

Mulhollandmagoo · 10/03/2023 07:15

Sprogletsmum2 · 10/03/2023 01:28

It's been snowing for a solid 48 hours here, big thick flakes. Work panicked and sent everyone to work from home.
It has not stuck AT ALL!
0/10 for just being extra cold rain

We have a good bit here this morning, looks like it has been snowing all night....but it's forecast rain this afternoon 🫠🙁

DustyLee123 · 10/03/2023 07:16

Just a dusting for me, NW.

KnottyKnitting · 10/03/2023 07:17

No snow at all here in Essex just horrid cold wet rain.

MrsJBaptiste · 10/03/2023 07:17

We have proper snow here, deep and crunchy which is great at Christmas but shit in March on a work day!

anythinginapinch · 10/03/2023 07:22

"Snow" here was delivered by Evri.

Not actually here at all despite the promises

RampantIvy · 10/03/2023 07:24

Yesterday's snow was wet and slushy and the roads were clear. I think the schools were being over cautious by closing. This morning we have about 6 or 7 inches of snow, and all the schools are closed round here.

RampantIvy · 10/03/2023 07:24

I'm near Penistone BTW.

namechangeforthisbleep · 10/03/2023 07:27

I hope it stays a crap bit of snow here as if people get snowed in I lose a lot of business. 3 days last time and no one came to my cafe as they were all snowed in. I do like the look of it but just can't afford for a white out unfortunately. So it may be my prayers being answered, apologies

littlequestion · 10/03/2023 07:30

DH has to drive from south coast (no snow) to Leicester at lunch time. Can anyone round Leicester advise if there's any snow / problems on road round there please?

fitflopqueen · 10/03/2023 07:30

I would like to get home today! Currently near Luton in a lovely BnB booked last minute as knew I would struggle to drive back to Peak District last night. AA shows my main routes are closed at moment.

gettingolderandgrumpier · 10/03/2023 07:31

What is this obsession with snow op ? A colleague yesterday went on and on that she wanted snow why ? .
it’s cold it’s wet you can’t really go anywhere if it’s quite bad as makes driving and walking slippy so the alternative is to stay in . that’s all well and good but we can’t all do that or want to either . So when the weather restricts what I can do it annoys me so I really don’t get I want to sit at home and watch the snow . If you want to stay in stay in .

HMTheQueenMuffin · 10/03/2023 07:37

I like snow. It's pretty. What i dislike about the weather where I live is that it never commits itself to anything, Usually grey and mild and often wet- no matter what time of year. I'd like proper heat in summer and proper cold in winter.

And yes, I have many times suggested to DH that we move to somewhere where this happens. (Where my parents and sister live abroad covers that criteria).

I might just have to start insisting on a Christmas winter break where there is snow to get my fix. We went to lapland years ago and it was wonderful.

RampantIvy · 10/03/2023 07:44

@fitflopqueen the snow is significantly worse in South Yorkshire today. Snake and Woodhead are closed and there are long delays on the M62 due to stuck vehicles.

DinosApple · 10/03/2023 07:45

We had constant non settling snow on Wednesday. Then solid rain yesterday and now heavy rainy sleet today.

I work in a school so the kids have been hyped up about having snow, none has settled and all play times and lunch times have been wet plays....

DinosApple · 10/03/2023 07:49

Tbf to the met office, had it been cold enough given the amount of rain and sleet we've had, if that had been snow it would have caused significant disruption.

Kitcaterpillar · 10/03/2023 07:51

Shit ton of snow in the Marches and no signs of stopping yet.

Polis · 10/03/2023 07:53

Check the traffic on Google maps. If it’s orange or red it is bad. If it isn’t showing any traffic at all, it’s worse!
