"Does the @Conservatives leadership - or at least the Leader of the House, @PennyMordaunt - have a view on (self-styled) grassroots members trying to put pressure on those Tory MPs serving on the Commons Privileges Committee? express.co.uk/news/politics/…"

Coordinated? emails sent to the 4 Tory MPs on the Privileges Committee complaining to them that Johnson is a victim 🙄

Make a diary note... 2pm next Wednesday 22nd March. Johnson is bring grilled about partygate, and it's being shown live

Fuck, fuck, fuck! I’m out all bloody day. Please, please post about it so I can catch up.

He's already been provided with the same evidence/information that the Committee have seen, coached to the NTh degree by his Barrister and whatever aides we are paying for. No doubt adding a few cheeky chappie anecdotes and a waft of Latin to round it off.

It will be a massive panto with him as Widow Twanky.

Im going to try to swerve the coverage as much as I can.

I agree with this.

However a part of me thinks that could be his downfall. He'll be coached - but you won't change him. He won't be able to resist going off script and adding "Boris buffoonery" which could mean he inadvertently drop himself in it.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking Grin

I so want this to finally be the downfall of Boris but unfortunately I doubt very much it will be, he is such a greased pig he will some how be vindicated.

Oh, not sure I can stand it. Plus the Johnson lovers will probably be out in force.

Oh good, does that mean we can rerun that Johnson was only responsible for pot plants and nothing else, certainly not what he said?

Have you accidentally put an extra T in?

The murky Restore Trust organisation have reimagined the National Trust logo...

"What possessed Restore Trust, the private company that says it isn’t linked to Tufton Street & just wants to return the National Trust to its ‘true purpose’ to publish this? Our logo made up of Soviet & other flags & images of Jeremy Corbyn. I don’t even know where to start."

We are riddled with mysteriously funded "think tanks".

www.theguardian.com/media/2023/mar/14/bbc-editors-asked-journalists-to-avoid-using-lockdown-at-start-of-pandemic

Article outlines pressure from Number 10 regarding phrasing and emphasis -

One BBC insider said: “Particularly on the website, our headlines have been determined by calls from Downing Street on a very regular basis.” They said the messages would have been a small snapshot of what was going on, because most pressure was applied verbally rather than written down.
The source said management appeared to be worried about losing access to politicians and briefings from No 10 if they crossed the Downing Street operation.

Pot plants? That's a new one. Only for personal use I hope.

Surely it not beyond the wit of the authorities to at least give them a chance to complete this bit of their education?

You do have to wonder about the mindset of people who make and defend these decisions. All they need to do is allow those poor girls to stay a few more months in their current shitty circumstances but no, they decided they wouldn't. Does it make them feel good at the end of the day to realise they've just made a pointless decision that seriously buggers up the life chances of girls who have already gone through hell? And all in the hope that being tough on girls like this will get the Tories a few more votes?

Piggywaspushed · 15/03/2023 09:01

Seen this?

www.theguardian.com/media/2023/mar/14/bbc-editors-asked-journalists-to-avoid-using-lockdown-at-start-of-pandemic

I remember being repeatedly told thoughout lockdowns etc that there was no such thing as press embargoes ,and that I was being rather fanciful when suggesting the BBC were not reporting things fully or were being leaned upon.

Feeling somewhat avenged.

DuncinToffee · 15/03/2023 09:15

It's been quite obvious that that was happening.

The word Brexit has more or less been banned for years now.

They didn't report on Zahawi until they had to.

Strikes, what strikes

Etc etc

Hunt has u-turned on the energy price guarantee. Yet again the Tories find another magic money tree when they need to.

If you want a laugh Matt Green has a video from 2004 showing the uproar from Tory Ministers that the budget coincided with Cheltenham. "Proper people" 🤣

I have rarely seen a more poignant juxtaposition on the news.

A pastor saying: "People are literally too poor too die. It's just immoral. Government has become a cartoon. The picture put out there is not real. It's just not real."

Alongside that very cartoon playing. ~AA

Energy bills will still increase by 19% in April as the Energy Bills Support Scheme comes to an end.

True, @DuncinToffee.

Has anyone seen that twerp Guliis has got himself into trouble.

How can anyone vote for such a visibly unpleasant person? I genuinely don't get it. You can see the nastiness oozing out of him. Horrible, horrible man.

Roussette · 15/03/2023 12:18

I actually think there is something fundamentally wrong with Gullis. He talks at great speed whilst not blinking. He is literally driven by disgusting hate. I mean FFS he was even criticising his own constituency and saying what a shithole it was for flytipping.

This is one constituency I will stay up all night for, to watch him beaten. Because I think they have had enough of him. And it's a slim majority.

A manchild that is both nasty and ridiculous.

That time he got slapped down for not getting dressed:

Every time I remember he was a teacher, I shudder. Then I feel glad he no longer is.

Anyone have any thoughts on the budget?
