What's changed? I imagine it's this increasingly desperate Government....

I struggle with Nick Triggle because - on a completely shallow level- I like his voice. But a lot of his reporting is biased. It was the same during Covid.

It's that BBC thing where they have to both sides everything- and so they end up criticising, minimising , misrepresenting. Their vox pops are often like this too. Find some one who agrees with something controversial and let them spout arrant nonsense.

The other now full thread is a fine example of how to dismantle flawed arguments with facts.

But sometimes there are no both sides of the debate. It then becomes someone's opinion.

Better to stick to facts.

I don’t dislike Sunak. He’s better than anything we’ve had for a while. I’m withholding judgement for now.

Very interesting paper from Institute of Government tackling many of the practical problems of the Illegal Migration Bill.

I was particularly interested in the questions about where they were intending to send people and the request for evidence that the policy will actually work.

I genuinely would like to know what people’s solutions are to stopping lots of young men crossing the channel.
The government don’t know either- Sunaks answer is to give France £500 million to build another immigration centre. I fail to see how this will stop the crossings.

But I don’t think anyone has the answers , including Labour.

Yes that’s true. Genuinely, what’s the appeal to coming here though? Rather than other EU countries? I honestly would like to understand.
