Funniest thing you’ve seen when driving?

I was sat a queue or traffic today and I a lady in the opposite direction wanted to turn right in front of me. Usually I try to leave space in this situation so people can turn right onto a different road but I hadn’t noticed as it was a private dirt road / driveway (my bad - please let me know if the rules about leaving space apply for private dirty roads / drives as it’s got me pondering!)

The woman looked visibly annoyed but that was diluted by the fact her whole face was painted like a Dalmatian’s 😂.

Pleas let me know your funny driving stories. :)

Sorry for the awful typing. Phone is on its last legs and very laggy and changes things I don’t want it to!

More disturbing and worrying than funny, a man purposely walking along a main road at around 1am wearing a rucksack, shoes and nothing else.

A dog in a side car wearing goggles!!

WishingIWasOnHoliday · 02/03/2023 19:29

An enormous, and I mean enormous, plastic yellow dog being towed on a trailer in front of me (I got his back end). I think it was going to the Dogs Trust.

Spanielsarepainless · 02/03/2023 19:34

A grossly and unevenly overloaded small trailer, well down on one side. Hits a pothole and back axle breaks. How we laughed. I still smile when I think of it.

Runningonempty01 · 02/03/2023 19:37

A really angry looking clown, he was fully kitted out, smoking a fag, stuck in traffic obviously rushing from one party to the next on a Saturday afternoon.

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/03/2023 19:39

Two Stormtroopers walking along the seafront.

Writeandroll · 02/03/2023 19:40

A big beardy man singing “let it go” (it was on the radio in my car too

The3rdWatermelon · 02/03/2023 19:42

A man on his own in a dark country lane, miles from anywhere, playing the bagpipes. I can only assume his family had told him to go practice where he couldn’t be heard!

PuttingDownRoots · 02/03/2023 19:45

I once overtook a steam train on the A1.

Might have been the naked rambler, although I haven’t seen him around lately. Local to me but walks all over the country

MGK · 02/03/2023 19:47

I saw captain Jack sparrow on the slip road once, his car had broken down and he must have been waiting for the AA but had to ask DH if he saw him to because I thought I was hallucinating Grin

PuttingDownRoots · 02/03/2023 19:49

I was once late to school pick up (as were quite a few others) after being stuck behind a tank with L plates....

SpamhappyTootsie · 02/03/2023 19:50

There’s a WW2 re-enactment day every year near where we live and we had to stop at a pedestrian crossing to let several Gestapo officer cross the road.

Stinkypup · 02/03/2023 19:52

Father Christmas in a Citroen Berlingo

Shanksponyorbust · 02/03/2023 19:55

The Mystery Machine pulled up beside me one grey and miserable morning in the rush hour traffic. I live in the north east. Made my day.

Bunnyishotandcross · 02/03/2023 19:57

A unicyclist on a 70 road when we recently moved house. Made me worry about The Neighbourhood!

AloudAlot · 02/03/2023 19:57

Driving on a dual carriageway I saw someone who had misjudged the road some how just beyond an exit with a deep bend. I don’t know if they had started to take the exit then swerved back onto the main carriageway or what, but their 2 passenger side wheels were sat up over the crash barrier so only the 2 drivers side wheels were on the ground. The couples standing by the vehicle looked very forlorn but it still makes me thing ‘WTF?!’ Every time I occasionally go by.

Another one, as I left the roundabout to go onto a slip road to join a dual carriageway there was a car facing me up the slip road right up against the crash barrier with a woman standing next to it on her phone. I drove by wide eyed.

I have also overtaken 3 huge flatbed lorries, each with a train engine on them. That was quite a sight.

It's World Book Day so almost everyone who works with kids will have been dressed up today (and hoping that they don't get seen on the drive into or home from work!)

uhtredsonofuhtred1 · 02/03/2023 19:59

A small herd of sheep running down the M62 with a police rolling road block

GenuinelyDone · 02/03/2023 20:00

There's a motorcycle rider in our city who drives around dressed as Elmo. Even the helmet is red fur and the visor is made to look like the mouth.

More boring I've seen a wind turbine blade being transported. They are enormous!

seashaken · 02/03/2023 20:04

I once drove for a few miles behind a car with a real life, fully grown tiger in the back seat, just sitting there gazing around. This was in Nevada.

Dominoeffecter · 02/03/2023 20:05

Someone eating a yoghurt whilst driving

minou123 · 02/03/2023 20:11

Sat in a traffic jam (there was an accident), at night, on a housing estate.

My bf: My Eyes! My Eyes!
Me (panicking): what's wrong?
Bf: I thought that man, in that house, was wearing a hairy jumper. But he's NAKED"

Sure enough, there was a man in his house, (by the window), ironing whilst naked. He was indeed hairy.

Adventurisoutthere · 02/03/2023 20:13

Guy in the drivers seat hanging out of his window recording me on his phone (as I didn’t give way on a bloody roundabout) dropped his phone whilst travelling about 50mph
