Funniest thing you’ve seen when driving?

I was sat a queue or traffic today and I a lady in the opposite direction wanted to turn right in front of me. Usually I try to leave space in this situation so people can turn right onto a different road but I hadn’t noticed as it was a private dirt road / driveway (my bad - please let me know if the rules about leaving space apply for private dirty roads / drives as it’s got me pondering!)

The woman looked visibly annoyed but that was diluted by the fact her whole face was painted like a Dalmatian’s 😂.

Pleas let me know your funny driving stories. :)

I've seen a full size Thomas the tank engine on the back of a lorry going down the M5. I assumed he was being transported to take part in one of those 'Day out with Thomas' events.

I travel on coaches a lot for school trips and it's ways hilarious seeing the drivers who think they can play chicken with the coach on a country lane and win They get redder and angrier and usually the kids on the coach notice and start to laugh too which makes it worse.

One of the funniest things that happened to me was overtaking a car with the next number plate. e.g. my car was ABC 123 and they were ABC 124. It was nowhere near the place I'd bought my car. We waved and smiled. After passing each other a few more times in the traffic, it started to feel really silly, so both sides pretended not to notice anymore.

A man driving a van just as we had come off the M1 onto the A42, pouring a hot drink from a flask.

The overturned lorry was quite a sight, just because I realised the sheer size of them.

At the end of August one year we went past a car transporter full of the new September reg cars.

A rogue sheep on the road, it saw my car and made a leap over the wire fence but hit the top wire. It did a spectacular cartwheel midair then landed on all fours and kept running. Most impressive gymnastics display I've ever seen

Another funny one, we were sitting in standstill traffic on the motorway and my brother was desperate for a pee, so he got out, hopped over the crash barrier and peed with his back to the road. Everyone in other cars were pointing and laughing, and they laughed even more when the traffic started to move while his back was turned. He started running to catch up, and then realised it had only moved about two car lengths and tried to casually slow to a walk.

Someone walking up our very ordinary road in full military dress uniform, complete with medals, with an enormous bird of prey perched on his arm. No idea where he was from!

Another time, a man walking down the road with a dog who was proudly carrying a whole Battenburg cake in its mouth.

Driving in the snow a few years ago, almost empty roads and cars were crawling along as it was icy. Saw the person in front of me start to slide off the road, none of us could stop but it as we were going so slowly it was quite comical- 30 seconds of the slowest car crash ever as this skoda just slid very gently off into a tree at about 7mph- the driver just looked annoyed and almost bored waiting to come to a stop.
They were totally fine, car didn't have a scratch

Following a relatively normal sized panel van down the M25 with a car hanging out of the back.
Watching police officers being chased back up the M62 towards the rolling road block by loose ponies, ponies can smell fear Grin

Pulled up behind a small van with the back doors wide open. Huge puffs of smoke coming out of it and a mattress hanging out the back. As i got nearer saw a bloke casually sat in the middle of the mattress puffing away on a vape. Then watched the van pull off onto a 70mph dual carriage way with the bloke clinging on for dear life still puffing away!

I don't know if it was funny as such, but it made me feel happy...

Stuck in very slow traffic on a motorway, there was a car in the lane next to us with a guy in the passenger seat leaning out of the window, waving and smiling at everyone, looking like he was having the time of his life and everyone was his best friend. We passed and got passed by that car a few times and it cheered me up no end.

Sitting in the car at the front of the queue at the traffic lights/pelican crossing. An elderly gentleman starts to slowly cross the road using his zimmer frame. He gets half way across and the green man light switches to the red one. The man picks up his zimmer frame and virtually sprints across the remainder of the road.

My favorite was in my rearview mirror - on the M62 with a lane closure and a 50mph limit, seeing the usual suspect in an Audi RS6 doing 80+ trying to cut ahead of me at the lane closure....

...and failing..... brakes hard on, front of the car dipping, and dozens of cones bunching up under the front bumper.

On the A37 “Box Man” he made the papers. White sheet with a box on his head. Might not have been a man I know but I think he started this during lock down and continued after. I used to see him I think until summer last year. We would shout if we saw him “look Box Man”. Hmm wonder if they found his identity or maybe Banksy playing a joke.

Not me, but a friend told me she'd seen what she thought was a biker riding a pink Harley, wearing a matching pink helmet. She wondered if it was a Harley, and then, as it's pink, if the guy was gay. A few minutes later she found herself up behind him at the traffic lights and saw he had a label on the back of his helmet. It said:

  1. Yes, it is. 2) No, I'm not.

We saw a car with a red bull can on (pic attached).
DH saw someone brushing their teeth on the motorway and another driving and applying mascara.
Laughed at some of the posts here (loving the clown).

I was driving on a motorway. And a massive lorry was towing/attached to one of those portable cabins you seen on building sights.

I was being one and suddenly in the back (widow facing me) a man popped his head up and did a double thumbs up and waved. With the cheesiest grin.

I burst out laughing and then was wondering why the heck he was even inside there?
