Would you be happy with a male masseur?

DH has recently told me he doesn't mind if I have a male or female masseur/masseuse. I was really surprised by this and am not sure I would want a male masseur. Would you be happy with one?

I don't particularly like being touched but have had sports massages from men, I am female. Doesn't bother me.

Namechanger355 · 01/03/2023 12:06

Had a male masseur in an ibiza hotel on the beach - nothing seedy about it at all.

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/03/2023 12:07

I have had massages from men.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 01/03/2023 12:07

It really doesn't bother me as long as they're good! Same goes for DH. The masseurs genitals don't really make a difference

MrsPotterings · 01/03/2023 12:08

CaptainMyCaptain How did you feel about it?

Had a pt give me a muscle massage but it was extremely uncomfortable. Wish now I'd not put myself in that position. Only female masseur for me now. I'd hate my DH to have a female give a massage! Maybe just me though x

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea It's more what is in their mind than their genitals.

I’m very happy to have a male masseur, mostly because I like a firm massage (many back and shoulder knots) and they take me seriously when I say they can go to town on them. But I’m happy with either. I wouldn’t expect my DH to have an opinion either way. I don’t insist he sees a bloke rather than a woman.

Laserbird16 · 01/03/2023 12:11

Remedial massages are about as comfortable as being carried off by an eagle so no I have no sexual thoughts while some man or woman is sticking their thumbs into my rhomboids.

It's literally their job. They touch hundreds of people of all shapes, sizes and sexes. I highly doubt they're having sexual thoughts. They'll be numb/desensitised by it.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 01/03/2023 12:15

Also they would lose their job, struggle to find a new one, and face legal action if they were being sexual with their customers

YellowDaffodillie · 01/03/2023 12:15

No.
The only time I had a massage from a man, it was very uncomfortable as he pressed too hard and his hands felt rough.
It wasn't a relaxing experience at all.

Lcb123 · 01/03/2023 12:16

Wouldn’t bother me or DH. Maybe different for him as most masseuses are female. They’re professional and spend all day doing it

Mummys · 01/03/2023 12:16

I'm more interested in why your husband has a view on whose allowed to massage you?

SpinningFloppa · 01/03/2023 12:18

Wouldn’t bother me

waterlego · 01/03/2023 12:20

I am a woman and have regular sports massages with a male practitioner. He works in the salon his wife owns. He is very knowledgeable and very good at massage which is why I see him. My husband knows I go to him and if it bothers him, he’s certainly never commented, just as I never commented (or minded) when he was seeing a female osteopath who spent time manipulating him into strange shapes while he was in his pants!

One of them, in Cuba, was a bit odd but not inappropriate the rest have been fine.

Precipice · 01/03/2023 12:26

I don't want a man touching me.

(But clearly if you have DH, you don't have this particular consideration.)

Honoraryuce · 01/03/2023 12:32

I generally prefer not to be touched and if I had to have a massage I wouldn't have a man massaging me.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/03/2023 12:34

Like PP I wouldn’t expect DP to have an opinion on who I have a massage from. I’d rather have a woman though.

RedCarsGoFaster · 01/03/2023 12:35

I've had one excellent sports massage from a man, and one awful creepy experience with another one. In future, I'll just judge it on the individual and if I'm creeped out, I'm going to pay for their consultation time but leave without treatment.

I prefer a female masseuse for relaxation tbh.

Funkyslippers · 01/03/2023 12:35

I've had male and female, makes no difference, and I'd be happy with my oh having a massage from a woman

MrsPotterings · 01/03/2023 12:43

I don't think they even offer women male masseurs at the place I have been to. . At least I have never been offered one.

I guess so. I am not talking about a sports or health massage but one that is meant to be purely relaxing/pleasurable.

SlippinKimmy · 01/03/2023 12:45

I used to be happy either way until I was sexually assaulted by a male masseur (unmistakably, not part of the massage). Now I will only have a female masseur otherwise I can’t relax. A shame, but it’s destroyed my trust.
