Would you be happy with a male masseur?

DH has recently told me he doesn't mind if I have a male or female masseur/masseuse. I was really surprised by this and am not sure I would want a male masseur. Would you be happy with one?

I wouldn't like it. Not because I'd be worried he'd grope me, just because I would feel awkward and wouldn't be able to relax as much as I would with a female. I would feel as if they were judging my appearance / body maybe? I can't really put into words why I would feel uncomfortable, I just know I would. I also feel uncomfortable with male hairdressers. I suppose the only man I want to touch me is my DH.

@Growlybear83, did you see the post directly above yours?

And even if there were precisely zero reports about male massage therapists groping or assaulting clients, women don’t have to justify why they do not want their half naked body being touched by a man they don’t know. You must surely be aware that a great many women have experienced sexual violence at the hands of men?

I am happy to see my male massage therapist, but I can very well understand why a lot of women wouldn’t be comfortable with it.

I don't think it would cross my DP's mind to say whether he 'minded' or not who I got a massage from!
I've fairly recently had a course of massages with a male therapist, who was fantastic. DP got a massage for his birthday recently and his therapist was a woman. I know this, and he knows mine was a man, just because we told each other about them and obviously said 'He/she did this' etc, not because either of us confessed or interrogated the other about their sex.

In one of mine I misunderstood his instruction about changing position and almost turned onto my back and exposed my boobs. He was horrified – I mean, he was very professional, but he clearly thought 'Oh fuck', and hastily rearranged the towels and rephrased what he'd said. Grin
I felt completely safe with him.

What total nonsense.

Two of my friends have been groped during massages.

It’s people like you claiming that all strange men are trustworthy that encourage women to put themselves into vulnerable situations, with hideous results.

Like these women who were sexually assaulted during massages:

www.bbc.com/news/uk-62081247.amp

Or this lady who was raped by her masseuse:
www.cps.gov.uk/london-south/news/massage-therapist-who-raped-client-jailed-five-years

Or the hundreds of other women who’ve been attacked by men in situations where the woman thought she was safe because she’d been encouraged to think that by people like you.

Sorry I don't remember ever claiming that all strange men are trustworthy...can you please quote?

Or perhaps you're talking out your arse and putting words in my mouth while making wild, baseless accusations?

I was talking as masseuses in general not having sexual thoughts about their clients. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, as there are in EVERY situation.

Stop with the overly personal, quite nasty attacks on people.

I'd prefer it, most of the abuse I went through as a child was caused by women. Hell will freeze over before I let a woman touch me.
