If you are at home today, what temperature is your house?

Without the heating on our house seems to fall to 11-12 degrees. I don't know if that is normal or if I just really feel the cold. We obviously can't afford to have the heating on all of the time but I just find it so miserable being cold.

My house might go as low as 15.5c overnight with no heating on. During the day with people up and moving around, it would hover at about 17c with no heating on. I've just lit the wood burner and it should get up to around 19c which is comfortable enough for me.

Paperexcelandpens · 27/02/2023 09:12

I've got all the windows open and it's between 13 and 14 degrees.

Flymetothetoon · 27/02/2023 09:14

12 in the kitchen this morning but hopefully will have climbed to 17 once I get home in a bit

whatsinaname2 · 27/02/2023 09:14

19 degrees. Don't care about the cost, my mental health starts to suffer if I'm cold in my home.

caffelattetogo · 27/02/2023 09:17

It varies from room to room, but this room, about 12 now. We are wrapped up and have regular hot drinks. I think heating is something you get used to. If your house has always been warm, you will notice the cold.

Campervangirl · 27/02/2023 09:18

I'm in the office but I've left the heating on 18° for the dog, she's old and feels the cold 🙄

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 27/02/2023 09:18

My home office is in an extension and not connected to the main central heating system. I've been on leave, so not heating it, for a week and this morning it is 10.5°C. Far too cold for sitting still, even wrapped in blankets.

user1498572889 · 27/02/2023 09:19

The heating comes on if it falls below 18. i normally take it up to 19 if we are in during the day.

Aworldofmyown · 27/02/2023 09:21

Mines 18° but the heating doesn't really coe on at that setting. Usually clicks on overnight. It's been quite mild here for the last few weeks and we have a shit tonne of insulation in the loft.

midgemadgemodge · 27/02/2023 09:21

Min outside temp last night 5

Heating off for about 10 hours overnight house drops to about 17 from 19

Ours will drop to 10 if the starting temp is lower , the outside temp is lower, the time heating is off longer ( heating on is actually determined by thermostat so may often be off for longer as it's not usually firing when its scheduled to go off )

Reasonable insulation

19 is about as low as I like to go as it affects your health if it's much lower

Cookerhood · 27/02/2023 09:23

Ours goes on at 19 for an hour or so in the morning, and at 20 in the evening. It's set to come on at 15 during the day but never does. It's set at 5 overnight so has never come on.

Relocatingrose · 27/02/2023 09:23

18c but it's really sunny and our huge windows are warming the house up (old house!)

In the summer we overheat because of the windows as it has a greenhouse feel.

Snailsaresweet · 27/02/2023 09:24

About 17c at the moment. Heating is on a timer and comes on from 6-8 in the morning. It then gets slowly colder all day, and I wait as long as possible before switching it on again. A brisk walk in the middle of the day and hot soup for lunch usually helps!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 27/02/2023 09:24

18 but it only went off an hour ago. Is set to come on at 16 but I've just overridden it as I have a rare (week) day at home.

Anotheanon · 27/02/2023 09:25

Mine is 15° at the minute. I’m hoping the sun warms it up a bit soon.

MamOfFive · 27/02/2023 09:25

It's 16 right now but I've had the heating on for the dc. I won't put it on now till they get home, so will be around 13-14.

0o0o0o0 · 27/02/2023 09:26

I live without heating by choice because of the bills. My house is currently 11C but I'm very accustomed to it now. What you need OP is to be properly dressed. I wear 3 different types of thermal vest under a pure wool jumper and a fleece over that. Thermal leggings under regular joggers, regular socks and Pachamama socks over those, Tescos fake Ugg slippers. Toasty. My windows are currently open front and back as I'm super careful about bathroom condensation.

TheChosenTwo · 27/02/2023 09:26

It’s 22 in the room I’m in at the moment. Heating isn’t currently on.

WrigglyDonCat · 27/02/2023 09:27

Ambient - always two windows open 24/7 on opposite sides of the house except extremely cold snaps when they get shut in the evening for a couple of hours if I want some heat on (so not since mid Jan). Was down to about 0 last night and a slight frost but will soon warm up as is a sunny day.

KingandIfan · 27/02/2023 09:28

19 when the heat's been on for a while in the morning and again in the evening. Once it drops to 17 I put it on for a while around midday. I feel the cold a lot, despite wearing thermals and between 3 and 5 layers, depending on temperature.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 27/02/2023 09:30

At the moment it's 20 degrees. Heating isn't on, but was this morning for a couple of hours while everyone was getting up and ready.

It's a small terraced house, so heats up quickly and stays warm - apart from the front room and back bedroom, which are more exposed and noticeably colder than the rest of the house.

Ilovetocrochet · 27/02/2023 09:31

Mine is set at 18° from 7 am to 10pm and I leave it on when I go out at the moment, might change that in a few weeks once it gets warmer. Last year I had it set at 19° and I have not noticed a difference since I lowered it.

I do boost it to 20° or extend the timing to 11 pm when particularly cold but not had to do that much this year - apart from when it was freezing before Christmas and an upstairs window got left open!

I am due to send in a reading and get a bill soon so it will be interesting to compare with last years bills.

curtainsontheline · 27/02/2023 09:31

14.5 in our warmest room right now, and that DOES feel cold. But I now have dog beside me, a cup of tea, and a heated shrug on, and I'm fine.

yhjn84 · 27/02/2023 09:33

17C, heating hasn't been on since yesterday. Feels fine, I have a little heater I will pop on in my office if I feel cold but feel fine currently.

Catspyjamas17 · 27/02/2023 09:33

I don't think ours goes below 17C. I couldn't sit working in less than 18C.
