For me it's Celine Dion - Think Twice. Don't know what it is about that song but even as a fairly young child it always got me!

I've just had to ask on another thread what this song was called because I couldn't remember -

But Labrinth - Jealous is another heartbreaker for me. Inspired by his absent dad.

Lover Please Stay by Nothing But Thieves. I’ve only ever actually listened to it once, but it was so utterly tragic and depressing that I can’t bear to listen to it again. Made me imagine playing it at DHs funeral one day, now I well up just thinking about the lyrics.

Wires gets me as well, it’s been on radio 2 more recently and I always end up sobbing.

I can’t listen to Nothing Compares to you, it describes the hopelessness of break ups so well, it’s visceral.

Annie Lennox no more I love yous is similarly desperate, great song! I just can’t listen to them!

The carnival is over….I will love you till I die.
The Seekers.

The Seekers: Morning town ride.
Reminds me of when I was 5 and all was well xx

I loved The Seekers. I was unexpectedly devastated when Judith Durham died last year. Georgy Girl has the same effect.

And for my 3rd post on this thread... how could I forget, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. I have a child with Down's Syndrome and this is the World Down's Syndrome day video - watch it and I defy any of you not to cry, it's so beautiful!

Zuffe · 23/02/2023 21:49

Any song by Adele.

Makes me weep. Just not in the way you might immediately think of.

Well James Blunt has just come up on my TikTok singing Monsters.

I've absolutely cried my eyes out and I'm not really a weeper. My dad is still healthy and well thank goodness but this song just destroyed me. I could cry now, just thinking about it. The video is so powerful.

Yes very sad

Doseagullstasteoffish · 23/02/2023 22:10

To Where You Are by G4. It was played at my grandads funeral, I had always loved it, it’s a beautiful song but I can’t listen to it at all now without being a snottery mess!

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 25/02/2023 22:51

I love To Where You Are - I think it was originally sung by Josh Groban.

Trudij123 · 20/03/2023 11:01

Puff the magic dragon. Every bloody time 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

incitethismeetingtorebellion · 20/03/2023 11:03

Jamie Lawson - I wasn't expecting that.
Kodaline - all I want.

Elderflower14 · 20/03/2023 11:37
We had this at my DPs funeral. To Where You Are by Josh Groban, I Find Your Love by Beth Nielson Chapman and Stay Another Day by E17 remind me of my much missed ds1.

Graceland by Paul Simon as my Mum played the album frequently when she was divorcing my Dad, plus my Dad would play the album and dance with me when I was younger. These particular lyrics in Graceland:

"losing love
Is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees you're blown apart
Everybody sees the wind blow"

Pink Floyd, I wish you were here.

The Cave, Mumford and Sons, always reminds me of DH's support and love when I went through

Unusual one, Send Me On My Way, from the 90s Matilda film as reminds me of my beautiful, funny DC and all the adventures we had in the holidays, played this in the car as DD loved the film at the time.

I'm so surprised that the late, great George Michael is not mentioned... I can't make you love me, one more try and different corner are some of my favourites of his, he sure wrote some amazing songs and had an amazing soulful voice too.

beguilingeyes · 08/04/2023 19:54

I associate I Can't Make You Love Me with Bonnie Raitt
She did it first (and best, IMO). Plus her version has Bruce Hornsby playing amazing piano on it.
