For me it's Celine Dion - Think Twice. Don't know what it is about that song but even as a fairly young child it always got me!

I saw Judy Collins at a festival last summer. I wasn't expecting much but she started with Both Sides Now and suddenly there was a field full of weeping women.
Against All Odds by Phil Collins. I hate PC but that song resonates with me.

Dance with my father - Luther Vandross
My love, my life - Abba
Fix you - Coldplay
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks
Old & Wise - Alan Parsons Project

I could go on.... I'm a massive crier to music!

Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet

Great song. For me, the Indigo Girls' version is even better.

MrsDeltaB · 22/02/2023 22:21

Skipping through my fingers - eldest wanted this on her first school leaver service because she wanted to see my ugly cry

Memories - Maroon 5 - middle child in the midst of pandemic leaving first school.

Better place - Rachel Platten. Youngest leaving nursery to Reception.

But also far too many before kids. Sometimes a bloody good self indulgent cry is cathartic

Maxwell version of This Woman's Work is beautiful too

Agree with Romeo and Juliet, also Tunnel of Love by Dire Straits

BrandyandGinger · 22/02/2023 22:28

@DogSaysWoof I love that song too. I cried the first time I heard it. I love the whole album. I also well up at Wasn't Expecting That, Red Dirt Girl by EmmyLou Harris, Travelling Soldier by The Chicks and Whiskey Lullaby.

My 3 year old son and I love "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the Lion King. I heard it whilst out (without him) and that set me off as it's our song

Mine is also slipping through my fingers by Abba. My DD started school in Sept and I cried to this every morning for about 2 weeks after I’d dropped her off. @VintageThoughts I’d never heard of that James Blunt song before, I just put it on and it brought a lump to my throat. Also, Ed Sheeran - supermarket flowers had me crying in my car.

Flidina · 22/02/2023 22:31

Sarah Bareillis- she used to be mine

Cocolapew · 22/02/2023 22:33

Sometimes It Snows In April by Prince.
I don't listen to it since he died.

Tilllly · 22/02/2023 22:33

Today... truly madly deeply

Generally, "which part of my body hurts the most" (the Jim steinman version)

Piece by piece - Kelly clarkson

Martina McBride - Concrete Angel. You need to be made of sturdy stuff not to break over this one. It's heart wrenching

Adele - when we were young

MissJam · 22/02/2023 22:33

Luka by Suzanne Vega even more so after finding out what the song is about.

Fix You by Coldplay

Howtohelp1234 · 22/02/2023 22:34

Also, Slow Down by Nicole Nordeman.

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 22/02/2023 22:34

This song that the churches of the UK came together to produce during the first lockdown. I can remember it being such a source of hope for me at the time, that one day we would sing together in the same room again.

We sometimes sing it at church together now and I'm not normally a crying type of person but it sets me off every time.

LadyGAgain · 22/02/2023 22:36

Dance with my father - I wish I could.
Said it all by Take that - best and most poignant lyrics.

Silent night - as above PP, when singing with kids I just can't. It makes me cry.

canthurryup · 22/02/2023 22:37

Eric Clapton - tears in heaven

Wizzbangfizz · 22/02/2023 22:39

I generally hate cold play but Fix you - specifically the lyric "when you lose something you can't replace"

I know him so well - sums up heartbreak for me

It was on a starry night - sang at a child's funeral which was horrendous

Ridingthegravytrain · 22/02/2023 22:39

No surprises - Radiohead

All my friends - counting crows

Eric Clapton - tears in heaven

About to say the same. Brings me to floods of tears every time. About his 4 year son who fell out of a window in a skyscraper. So so sad and a beautiful song.

@bloodywhitecat I'm so sorry.. I really hope you are getting support and sending my thoughts to you.

She speaks in colours by Thea Gilmore came on the radio the other day and it was the first time I'd ever heard it but I had to stop what I was doing and definitely shed a tear.

Phos · 22/02/2023 22:42

There Goes My Life - Kenny Chesney
The Living Years - Mike + The Mechanics
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Baby Mine - from Dumbo

Eyesopenwideawake · 22/02/2023 22:45
