A search has shown this is the only thread about her. She was bullied at school and has now mysteriously been murdered. It's disgusting and the police are downplaying this being a hate crime.

WhiteFire · 13/02/2023 12:06

I'm not going to speculate about the particular circumstances of this case, but knife crime and stabbings need to stop. There needs to be some joint up working to try and prevent these deaths. Knife deaths are at an all time high.

Agree. saw a brief snippet earlier where the Police appeared to be literally completely entangling themselves trying to think of, and then immediately blatantly deny, what has been suggested as one possible motive linked to previous bullying episodes.
There's already some campaign groups fighting for changes in the law. though unfortunately they have not explained the key flaw in their argument - which appears to be, that they believe that criminals will obey any and all new laws.

Panicmode1 · 13/02/2023 13:23

We live in a nice town in SE England. There was a serious but non fatal stabbing of a teenage boy in a park in broad daylight a few Saturdays ago.

This tragic case may or may not have an added element to it, but we as a society need to quickly get to grips with why teens are carrying knives - and understand why they are not afraid to use them on each other. Where are the police? The parents? The consequences?!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2023 13:24

A search has shown this is the only thread about her.

It's the only thread because the rest have filled up with political point scoring, unfounded speculation and inappropriate remarks. There have been multiple threads taken down by MN. This will go the same way if people do this.

This is the third thread that I have seen about this incident in the last 24 hours but I guess the others have been removed.

It is very sad that another teenager has been stabbed but I think it was wrong of the media to initially say teenage girl, without mentioning the trans part. We now have no way of knowing the sex of the two 15 year old suspects, just because the media are saying boy and girl, doesn't mean it's true.

Mylittlesandwich · 13/02/2023 13:52

I've seen previous mention of the way Glasgow handled a huge problem with knife crime was apparently very successful. Maybe there's some lessons to be taken from that?

FunkyMonks · 13/02/2023 14:00

This scares me so much I'm constantly worried about my children growing up in a dangerous country.
It no longer feels safe anymore the police have no control over knife crimes gangs etc.

The worse we ever had growing up was physical fist fights but no one carried knives or weapons.

It's shocking that this is happening more and more now like it's becoming the norm when it shouldn't be there needs to be serve punishment when caught carrying weapons not a slap on the wrist and off you go.

Poor family what awful heartbreak they must be going through.

WhiteFire · 13/02/2023 14:17

By the time they are walking around with knives on them it is far too late, there needs to be much more preventative action.

I would be interested to know why you feel it was wrong of the media to say teenager girl without mentioning that she was trans?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2023 14:36

I'm sure you can work it out.

LakeTiticaca · 13/02/2023 14:42

I would suggest that the parents need to get a grip, but every time tough discipline is mention on an MN thread, there is usually a pile on.
So here we are, kids roaming around freely stabbing others

MirabelMax · 13/02/2023 14:43

I don't get why it was wrong to simply describe her as a teenage girl. The police don't believe this was a hate crime so her being transgender is supposedly not relevant.

I get why it's important to report the biological sex of perpetrators of crime, but a young victim? Surely the privacy of her and her family is important.

Careful with this line of discussion as it's likely (sure not your intention) to derail causing MN to delete it. And it will attract a number of posters who are using the same topic to point score.

bellinisurge · 13/02/2023 14:47

Let the police do their job. This poor child is another of the too many young victims of knife crime.

MirabelMax · 13/02/2023 14:49

You're right, definitely not my intention.

Poor kid. I have teens the same age and the thought of her being left there to die by kids the same age is horrific.

queenofthewild · 13/02/2023 15:16

A teenager was a tragic victim of knife crime in my area last year. The actions of 3 teenagers have destroyed so many lives.

The family of the victim has been totally broken, but the parents have been so brave speaking out against bullying, cyber bullying and knife crime. Most local teens knew the victim. The lives of the perpetrators and their families have been irreversibly changed also. It's an utter tragedy.

We all need to take an interest in our children. Who they are with, what they are up to on and off line. It's tragic.

Mammillaria · 13/02/2023 15:31

Just horrific. Another young life cut short.

Clawdy · 13/02/2023 15:37

Something dreadful seems to happen to teenagers each week. What a world.

Have you got any links about this?

It’s such a tragedy. That poor child!

It’s been barely two weeks since a 15 year old girl was fatally stabbed and a 16 year old boy injured by another teen. We need to understand why teens are resorting to knife crime and find ways to prevent. I really do fear for children now. I remember lots of bullying and fighting growing up but nothing as severe as this.

Exactly this. Parents saying they won't allow their children a drink until they're 18 or "allow" them to have sex etc, they're the ignorant parents that probably don't realise their children are doing everything behind their back instead of being open and honest. Some parents are very clueless as to what their children are up to!

My posh friends who went to private school were the ones up to more trouble than those (like me) from a very working class background. Because their parents were the out of touch "not my dahling Olivia" types! Their dahlings definitely weren't doing cocaine at 16 with their pocket money gifted by mother and father.
