Farting when you're the only one in the room (lighthearted)

NC for this 😁longstanding member though and this is pure lighthearted curiosity as I suddenly wondered whether I am 'normal' in this regard.

If you need to fart when you're alone (and there's no possibility of someone coming in and smelling it - and, importantly, you're sure you're not going to follow through) do you bother going to the bathroom to do it, or do you just do it right where you are?

I know it's a batshit and completely unimportant question, it's just something I've always been really curious about! (For the record, I leave the room if other people are around, unless I'm certain it's going to be completely silent and odour-free, but if I'm by myself I just fart in place, so to speak. 😄)

Do it right where I am of course.....and don't get me started on more-advanced manouvers like cropdusting.

I suppose one possible exception might be if i'm in a very poorly ventilated space that others will soon occupy. Like our videoconferencing booths at work (they're about the size of a phonebox and trap smells in much the same way as a space suit).

Going to the bathroom? No way.

Fart-in-placer here. If I do it in public I move away quick and glare at someone as if it's them 😃

This is the main advantage to doing my pilates lessons by zoom rather than the village hall like we did pre-covid. I'm very careful to ensure the I'm on mute.

Speaking of Zoom, I also sometimes wonder if people excuse themselves if they need to fart in a Zoom call, or whether it's a case of 'mute and toot', so to speak - I did this once and I can't believe I'm the only one. 😄

(I promise I do sometimes think of other things besides other people's fart etiquette... 😂)

If I’m alone I 100% let rip and usually enjoy it…which is maybe quite weird. If I’m with DH I let rip just to see the look of disgust! Depends on who else is around if I let rip, hold it in or just and try to ensure a silent one 🙂

If I recognise that I'm building up a 'head of wind', I phone my MP. He's got an answering machine.

Being a woman in my early 50s with chronic ibs, I think I'm guilty of continually 'crop dusting' as i walk around the house. I can't laugh, cough or sneeze without farting these days. I remember the good old days when you could trust every single fart without question. Not so much these days.. 😳💨💨

Why on earth would anyone, ever, go to the bathroom to fart?!

My dog once strolled into the room while I was on a Zoom call and let rip a massive, noisy, deadly fart, then sat there looking very smug. I was in hysterics and had to apologise and make it clear that it was not me.

I did read about a zoom meeting going on (early days of covid) and someone let off a massive fart and their screen lit up - everyone knew why and cracked up 😂
