Like so many of his colleagues he should have been binned years ago. I'm sure he's still doing mucky deals for Tory donors somewhere.

As long as the Pope remains Catholic and bears do their thing in the woods, I am sure you are right.

L1ttledrummergirl · 17/02/2023 08:55

I was trying to be polite. I've run out of vocabulary to describe how she this government is and was trying to avoid (yet) another rant.

I just feel so despondent about the situation, one of my questions for any new wannabe MP will be about where they stand on changing the rules so crap, robbing, self serving, dangerous governments can be removed sooner when it's clear that the country wants them gone. We could have had an election last summer and be on our way to repairing some of the damage. Every time I think it's as bad as it can get, they find a way to make it worse.

Any new government needs to start a full and transparent investigation into who owned companies that benefitted from this government, and what the links to the conservative party are. Perhaps steps can be taken to recoup our money from the likes of baroness Mone and the others yet to be looked at. They should also be permanently removed from any titles or positions of authority and jailed where appropriate.

Jenrick is up to his neck in it.

itsgettingweird · 17/02/2023 09:16

Getting so cross with people being anti strikes based on incorrect information.

Vote Tory - your right.

Be anti strikes - your right.

But to continuously argue against teacher strikes when you're a SAHP for your 17yo who had a private education since 8to based on what you've read in right wing appears is just idiotic.

Makes me even more mad when they know I work in education (non teaching role) and can state facts back quite happily and prove every single thing you've just said is untrue with actual facts and figures and all you get back is "well we don't have the money" and blame covid and the war in Ukraine.

I had absolute please when they quoted about the finding going back up in pointing out "yes, it's going back to 2010 levels. That's a15% real time dedication in value and the teacher pay rises will come out of that. But I though we were told they'd increased funding year on year? Turns out that was a lie eh? And correct me if I'm wrong but didn't covid start in 2020 and the way in 2022? Can you explain the previous decade then?"

And the response I got was "we don't have the money"

It's such a pathetic argument but did show me that really Rory voters don't actually have any argument for their decisions based on the actual figures and decisions.

Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 11:32

Sorry L1ttledrummergirl - I did realise you were being polite and sticking to talk guidelines etc. Tower Hamlets is one of the poorest boroughs in London - knowing that Jenrick tried to overwrite procedures to save Desmond £45 million which could have only benefitted them enrages me. What kind of public service is that?
We have a Cabinet chock full of people that have broken guidelines and protocols and yet are still in position. A slap on the wrist, a few weeks on the back benches and then brought back in to the fold to repeat the process. If they had had their way Owen Paterson would still be in a job with his £££ nosebag firmly on.

Wholeheartedly agree with your post itsgettingweird. I put it down to a semi Victorian/Puritanical belief that suffering is valuable (for other people).

Interesting analysis of QT here:

Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 18:32

That is interesting. Shocking that the liberal metropolitan remainers apparently control the media and yet programmes like QT are demonstrably skewed towards right wing politicians/think tanks/pundits.

Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 18:36

Letter from the NHS Confederation to Sunak -

"We share the prime minister’s ambition to reduce waiting lists but the government’s apparent refusal to discuss or compromise on pay is jeopardising his public commitment to reduce waiting times. Increasingly, the government’s policies on NHS pay and on NHS waiting lists are becoming mutually incompatible.
“The prime minister has a choice to make, which is to either seek to settle the dispute with the trade unions or to wave goodbye to his own pledge to cut NHS waiting lists.”
Steve Barclay hasn't met Pat Cullen in over a month.

As part of our weekly series of brilliant reasons to Bring Back Boris Grin

His oven ready deal is so bad only he can renegotiate it.

It is a conspiracy to make the right wing look bad as the more the talk the dafter they look.
As anyone seem Fabricant recently?

The other great thing about Boris is there weren't strikes while he was Prime Minister because he is strong and knows what a women is and but Corbyn.

Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 19:56

The Conservative Democratic Organisation has announced that their conference will be the week after the local elections.

They aim to bring back democracy to the Conservative Party (not the country) by galvanising the ever so wise grassroots Tories (the ones that loved Truss) and to remove Sunak and bring back Boris. Patel & JRM are members and Johnson is rather coyly supportive "in the background".

It's nice that they focusing on internal party issues rather than ongoing national problems. I'd hate for them to be distracted by the crises they caused.

Is that a bit like the DDR?

DuncinToffee · 17/02/2023 20:15

I am sure a few of them do quite like the idea of the Stasi

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 20:15

Well I'm sure they would like an equitable party where member votes count for much more than boring things like mortgage rates, inflation, market ratings, good governance, OBR reports etc.
So yes - v similar 😁

They were of course right, and everyone else was wrong. If only everyone was as wise as them everyone could still pretend to live in the 19th century with nanny.

Apparently Johnson has 'agreed to buy' a £4m Georgian Manor house with a moat

CDO's new headquarters?

Notonthestairs · 17/02/2023 20:34

There are undoubtedly Conservative members that feel we all needed to Believe a bit harder. Well, ideally we would have just a bit cared less about Patterson, prorogation, Partygate, Pincher and Tory donors paying for holidays, wallpaper, BBC jobs etc - by now we'd be properly sticking it to the EU.

He's buying or is one of his cousins buying?

DuncinToffee · 17/02/2023 23:26

Very likely that he is buying with someone else's money....

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 18/02/2023 05:17

Yes - I'm very dubious of the term "buying".

Acquiring is probably more apt.

Presumably being bribed with by actors unknown Putin again? would be more accurate.

Notonthestairs · 18/02/2023 09:29

Well I suppose as he's been living rent free and paid nothing for food or travel for a number of years he might have saved something along the way.

Regardless I'm sure the people of Uxbridge feel well represented in Parliament. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
