Loveliest place in the U.K.?

There have been a couple of threads recently about places that you want to get out of as quickly as possible - Newport, Stevenage, etc!
It got me thinking, which towns do live up to expectations? Where is the perfect U.K.-topia?

The Golden Valley

The North Norfolk Staithes

East Devon

But the best place of all will remain a secret. A small valley a mile in length, with a market town on a hill, running down to the sea. Everywhere in the UK is yours, but not this place.

North York Moors covered in heather
Cockington in the English Riveria
York
Parts of Oxford

I live on the Devon/Cornwall border & love everything about it. Twenty minutes to the moor, 30 to the beach.

That said, I love Bath, Chester & Windsor. The Cotswolds are bloody lovely to visit too. I think there's lots of lovely places all over tbh.

My heart belongs in York. Unfortunately, I can't afford to live there but am hoping that I can move back one day

The Hebrides
North Devon
Exmoor
The black mountains
St Davids, west Pembrokeshire and cardigan bay.

Can you keep a secret?

I like knutsford. Gorgeous restaurants, interior shops and clothes boutiques. It's small and only 2 streets. It's next to Tatton Park and Manchester airport. It's snobby and pretentious and footballery aswell but let's ignore that bit! The surrounding countryside isn't anything exciting but it's a nice little village. I wont live there though, as its burglar central.

CeeJay81 · 08/01/2023 08:45

It's lovely where I live. A tiny Market town in a valley in the hills, in the middle of Wales. 10 miles from the coast.

Haselbech. I wish I could move there

NotRightNowNo · 08/01/2023 08:52

I love where I live. I'm aware this makes me very lucky. I sometimes have anxiety dreams about being made to leave and when I wake I'm really grateful all over again

Yes that is nice. Not far from me. North by Northamptonshire.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 08/01/2023 08:55

Most places in UK are quite lovely.
But I really like Scottish Highlands, York, and boarder area of England/Scotland on the seaside.

Simplepink · 08/01/2023 08:56

Saltaire in Bradford
loads going on, much cheaper than ilkley or Harrogate, feels like a lovely village but train lines to Leeds and Manchester and a stones throw from the gorgeous yorkshire dales.
its a world heritage site and has the biggest Hockney collection/wonderful mill/art gallery

HariKris · 08/01/2023 08:56

Here you go. For a romantic getaway.

I give you Wishbone but the Malvern's one not the Cotswold's property of a similar name.

Cornishclio · 08/01/2023 08:57

I live in South Cornwall and that is particularly lovely.Close to Moors and Sea but also commutable to a city. Medium sized town

Roselilly36 · 08/01/2023 08:59

Seven sisters
Cheddar Gorge
Norwich City - Tomblands, Elm Hill, Cathedral
Cotswolds - Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold
Wells-next-the-Sea

Clawdy · 08/01/2023 09:00

Much of the Lake District, but especially Cockermouth. I would so love to live there.

Watch out for the flooding though!

Ohgoodyanotherone · 08/01/2023 09:01

But for the traffic, Bradford-on-Avon is beautiful.

inthedeepshade · 08/01/2023 09:02

Bath is my happy place. I used to live there and it felt like an amazing dream life. I'd love to move back one day.

I also adore the Lake District. Incredible scenery (stating the obvious) but I don't think I could live there.
