Who else is staying in by themselves tonight?

I was supposed to have 2 friends coming over to mine and then we were going to go out for some drinks. But both of them have come down with the flu that’s going round, so now my NYE is me staying in by myself (I live alone).

And to be honest, I am very happy with that! I am going to have some nice food, a glass of Prosecco maybe and might even just go to bed before midnight.

Who else is by themselves tonight?

Me! As always. I find NYE sad and try to ignore.
I hope you enjoy your evening.

bloodywhitecat · 31/12/2022 17:48

I am (well technically I have a 2 year old too but they are going to bed in a minute). I have no plans except for cooking sausage and chips for my dinner in a bit.

NashvilleQueen · 31/12/2022 17:53

Me. Ready meal. Couple of drinks. Tv and bed by 10. Marvellous.

Me with bells on! The fire is lit, the house is tidy, I'm eating smoked salmon Canapés and watching chitty chitty bang bang and having intermittent sobs amongst a decent bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and a magazine! Happy new year.

KloppsTeeth · 31/12/2022 17:56

Me. Well, me, DH and 2 kids. We always stay in. Can’t afford to go out, so we are planning to watch a movie, eat some snacks, see the fireworks on telly then go to bed.

cheers to everyone, hope we all have a lovely new year, and special thoughts for those staying in.

Dayandnightreunite · 31/12/2022 17:56

Despite having a family of my own I'm spending NYE alone. Our relationship has been on the rocks for a while, our marriage is struggling. We were going to take the kids for dinner but eldest has ranted and raved at me for something which wasn't my doing so I've bowed out of the evening and left them to it. I realise it's not the best way but my health has taken a battering and all this made me feel like I can't cope anymore.
Never felt so alone in my life.

Always4Brenner · 31/12/2022 17:58

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 31/12/2022 18:00

Me. Roast in the oven, wine opened, feet up watching telly.

Not on my own as such but spending NYE with very elderly DM after DDad died in summer. Kids and DP at home in different town. Never go out NYE though and have never liked it even in teens.

thefinaltwist · 31/12/2022 18:04

Its just me and ds 11 this year dh is camping and climbing a munro tomorrow. Might see if ds wants to watch a film later but for now he is in his room watching YouTube and drawing and I've just sat down for the first time today. Glass of wine some snacks and my book. Might start a new podcast. Just waiting on my sheets finishing in the dryer and I will make my bed. Ds is done aswell. Lie in, bath and jammie day tomorrow then steak pie once dh is home

Turkeylurky · 31/12/2022 18:05

I am alone tonight. I have come down with the flu so DH and DCs have gone to the party with our friends without me. I insisted they go as I didn't want to spoil their fun.

Ineedtosleep79 · 31/12/2022 18:08

Staying in with my mum. Staying in NYE is not a big deal, it happens. Went out last year, not this year. Might just go bed early.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 31/12/2022 18:08

Yes. Am ill so sending DH and 3 kids to NYE party we had all planned to go to. Planning on taking some Night Nurse and being asleep by 9!!

Lovelycupofcoffee · 31/12/2022 18:09

Yep just me and the cat 🐈‍⬛. I think my son is off out with mates .

MintJulia · 31/12/2022 18:11

I'm staying in with DS. He's been away since boxing day, so we'll eat and light a fire and watch a film.

I'm glad he's back. 😊

Frostine · 31/12/2022 18:12

Sort of , dh is not feeling well so is sleeping in front of the tv, which is crap tonight . Will probably be in bed by 10 .

SomeonesRealName · 31/12/2022 18:15

I'm envious of anyone staying in at home I've had to take DS out to the local club where I'll be stood by the bar reading Mumsnet for four hours while he socialises with his friends. The wine isn't even nice.

YewNearsEve · 31/12/2022 18:15

Great idea for a thread!
Love to everyone reluctantly on their own tonight and to everyone doing it for fun.
I’m not well enough so DH and the kids had an early supper and they have already gone out. I haven’t done NYE on my own before but I think I will get into bed with some tv on the iPad and just see how long I can stay awake for!

hesaidshesaidtheysaid · 31/12/2022 18:16

Me, kind of. DH has to go to work at 3am and I'm working in the morning too so although we're both home I'm sure we'll both be fast asleep at midnight.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 31/12/2022 18:17

Just me and the kids here.
But in all honesty it's like that every year. I don't see what all the fuss is about, and would rather get an early night and a decent nights sleep. If it wasn't for about 5 hours worth of fireworks....

Shodan · 31/12/2022 18:18

I'm in, with ds2 (15). As usual. DP is at work all night.

Got to be better than last NYE though, when I took ds2 to my (now ex) friend's house, where we were both made to feel like spare parts and when DP turned up (after shift) he was also made to feel uncomfortable.

So there's that 😂

One day though I think I'd like to do something for NYE. Go away maybe. Or have friends over (and not be the fallback option)

Abhannmor · 31/12/2022 18:18

@Dayandnightreunite I hope 2023 brings a change for the better in your life.
