Who else is staying in by themselves tonight?

I was supposed to have 2 friends coming over to mine and then we were going to go out for some drinks. But both of them have come down with the flu that’s going round, so now my NYE is me staying in by myself (I live alone).

And to be honest, I am very happy with that! I am going to have some nice food, a glass of Prosecco maybe and might even just go to bed before midnight.

Who else is by themselves tonight?

Me. My husband left me for another woman. Its very sad and i cant stop crying. Children with him tonight. They'll be back in the morning.

I was you in 1996. It hurts like hell doesn't it. It will come good though. Use tonight, if you have positive moments, to write down the things you would like to achieve in 2023 and what you would like next NYE to look like. Sending you a hug. If I could have seen the future that I have now I would have helped my ex husband of to his 17 year old girlfriend ( he was 32) with a cheery wave but nobody has that power sadly. Sending you a huge hug. Xxxx

@SomeonesRealName Thank you and may it have joy, health & happiness🍷

devildeepbluesea · 31/12/2022 18:51

Me!! Was at
a party last night so slightly hungover. Just inhaled a Chinese takeaway, bingeing Miss Marple (just finishing 3rd of 4!) then it’s bed for me and the dog, well before midnight. Probably before 9.30.

I hate New Year’s Eve.

Me and quite happy about it. Always used to go out when I was younger, but really can't be bothered now. Will have baked camembert, homemade cocktails and watch the fireworks with the cat 😊

Izzy24 · 31/12/2022 18:52

Me ☺️

DH gigging as he does every year so a quiet night in front of the fire with the dog and cat, the Christmas tree still smells amazing and about to choose a Netflix…I’m happy.

💐💐 💐 for all those having a rubbish time and looking forward to better times next year

CreepingCrone · 31/12/2022 18:53

I'm staying in to keep our adopted greyhound company. He is scared of fireworks, and far better company than drunk p1ssheads in town!

CrunchyCarrot · 31/12/2022 18:53

Yes I'm on my own tonight. DP's mother had a stroke day before yesterday and he's gone to the hospital to be with her (she lives about 1.5 hrs away). I'm hoping she has finally been admitted to a ward, she was in the A&E section for about a day. It's a bit of a shit start to 2023 but am hoping things will improve.

earsup · 31/12/2022 18:54

Just me and my lodger, he isnt that bothered also....i usually work in our lovely local pub just for nye but i am getting over flu...so making a steak and kidney pie for dinner with vegetables and probably in bed by 11pm with my book and chocs....

I'm envious of anyone staying in at home I've had to take DS out to the local club where I'll be stood by the bar reading Mumsnet for four hours while he socialises with his friends. The wine isn't even nice.

You are a good'un. I hope he appreciates you.

AuditAngel · 31/12/2022 18:56

Me. DH and DS are working tonight (hospitality) and usually we would go too, but I’ve had the cold that has been going around, so instead I agreed to supervise DD(15) and 6 friends having a party at ours! Pray for me.

I also have DD(12) and we are having a takeaway tonight, pizzas for the party, and a fridge of booze (for me, not the teens)

Alexandra2001 · 31/12/2022 18:57

Me well plus dog! got a heavy cold, was supposed to be going out, cancelled with partner, went ape! ..... accused me of making it up!!!!

fucking dickhead.

Fizz on the go and a roast! early nite.. happy days!

AuditAngel · 31/12/2022 18:57

Last year, the chef and co-director caught COVID, on NYE so I spent the night working as kitchen porter while DS(then 17) ran the kitchen, while other family helped in the bar. Looking forward to a quiet one this year

staciea31 · 31/12/2022 18:58

Me and my little puppy it’s bliss wouldn’t want it anyway glass of Prosecco rubbish tele and a takeaway heaven xx

VioletLemon · 31/12/2022 19:00

I'm so sorry, take care of yourself. Things will get better 💐.

Puppypads · 31/12/2022 19:01

Me! Utter bliss. Me and the dog, some telly and an early night. I really can't be arsed with NYE. I love Christmas, birthdays, Halloween etc but I just can't get excited about all the forced jollity.
Kids are with exH and I have the house to myself. This is like my heaven Xmas Grin

Pelo22 · 31/12/2022 19:03

Me and the cat. I've got covid and feel awful

SpikyHatePotato · 31/12/2022 19:05

Me. Am away for work for 2 weeks from tomorrow, and most of the packing is still to do. I'm watching Christmas telly on catch-up and pottering around. I'd love to go to bed at 10pm, but round here the fireworks are (a) stupidly loud and (b) have already started and will go on til about 2am, so there's no point trying to sleep.

onmywayamarillo · 31/12/2022 19:07

Me too! Fire is on watching Netflix and just eaten a lovely meal. Am enjoying time alone after a hectic Christmas. All kids are at dads so it's me time... and breathe 😀

Workawayxx · 31/12/2022 19:08

Just me, DS who is 10 and currently minecrafting with friends and toddler dd, about to go to bed. Dp is away with work. Im quite excited about a quiet and hopefully early night after dp waking me all night for the past few, coughing! I have a glass of red and doing an easy ham egg and chips for dinner.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 31/12/2022 19:09

Me, DH, DDog.
I’ll be in bed tucked up with a book by 9, DDog is flat out asleep in front of the wood burner, DH is faffing about with his paperwork, he’ll be asleep in the chair by 9!
I’ve never liked NYE, but I look forward to a shiny new year starting.

decadance · 31/12/2022 19:14

Me, my husband died of a stroke last new Years day, spent last New years eve night with him at the hospital, just the 2 of us in a side room waiting for him to die while the fireworks went off and all the nurses wishing each other Happy new year, still have flashbacks about it all, worst day of my life, had to get the nurses to give him morphine as he was struggling to breathe, and they had just left us on our own, this year at least i'm at home with the dog, listening to my horrible noisy neighbours above me, and i'm nursing my little 15 year old rescue cat, she's just had an operation for a massive hernia, she nearly didn't make it, they gave me the option of putting her to sleep and i said no please try to save her, been told if her stitches open up there's nothing they can do, so she's in a crate with me watching her round the clock, hopefully she'll make it through and 2023 will be a bit better for us.

OatMilkLattes · 31/12/2022 19:14

Me!

DP is away with work. I’ve had offers to go out but I can’t be bothered. Just had a glass of red and cooked a bolognese, so nice to just be in chilling. Will likely be asleep before 12!

1980sfookup · 31/12/2022 19:14

I am voluntarily staying home - daughter has invited me to hers but there's lots of fireworks going off already so I'm looking after my dog tonight. I'm a miserable old sod but too old to do something I don't want to so quiet night and up for an early dog walk in the morning - my Ideal day.

ChickyNuggies · 31/12/2022 19:14

Me, the two dogs and the two cats.

Full of the cold and DH is on deployment so party food for one and an early night for us all. Where DH is, it will be NY at 9pm here so we can do the Happy New Year call then and I can go to bed.

First time he's been deployed over Christmas and New Year but trying to be positive!

cobblers123 · 31/12/2022 19:15

Me and the cat. I've already had two glasses of Cava and if I'm still awake at midnight, which I think is unlikely, I'll have another glass to see in the New Year.

I don't like NYE and haven't done for years so being on my own is the norm. I like it that way.
