Who else is staying in by themselves tonight?

I was supposed to have 2 friends coming over to mine and then we were going to go out for some drinks. But both of them have come down with the flu that’s going round, so now my NYE is me staying in by myself (I live alone).

And to be honest, I am very happy with that! I am going to have some nice food, a glass of Prosecco maybe and might even just go to bed before midnight.

Who else is by themselves tonight?

I've never liked new year,I always feel really sad that Xmas was officially last year once the new year rolls around.Im in bed already watching tv with a cup of tea and my dog is snuggled up next to me while DD9 is online playing Minecraft in her room with her best friend.
I'm where I want to be 😆.

Me and DD. She would normally be in bed by about 10. She wants to stay up for the bells so we've had a curry from our favourite takeaway, fire is on, one of the cats on my knee and a nice glass of Portuguese red.

Staying in, poorly with viral gastroenteritis and feeling like shit. I've missed the whole Christmas shebang, missed granddaughter opening her presents and will be missing the pantomime. Just ranting.
I hope I'll look back on this next year with a better outcome.

I normally host a dinner party on NYE for a group of old and good friends, but this year I called it off. I've had a rubbish Christmas with huge conflict between two of my DC's and their partners, its been ghastly and upset me so much, and its still going on (the effort in trying to remain neutral when they keep on at you!) I just don't feel I can be jolly, and I feel both mentally and physically exhausted with it all and so sad.
So I am watching a Jessie Stone movie on the TV and drinking Pepsi Max, DH is in another room watching something else and drinking Guiness!

I flew back home this afternoon having spent the last two weeks with family in Ireland. Got home at 7pm and have been watching Indiana Jones while unpacking and snacking on Baileys and my mums Christmas cake. The fireworks outside have been going on since I arrived and getting louder.
My friends are out but I've an appointment for a Covid PCR test at 9am tomorrow morning. Lovely. Couldn't cope with that with a hangover!

Me too. I did not realise the significance of the date a nyway.. I left work at lunchtime and had a kip for a few hours.

Me. Well, me, DH and 2 kids. We always stay in. Can’t afford to go out, so we are planning to watch a movie, eat some snacks, see the fireworks on telly then go to bed.

Turned down a few invites, changed my bedsheets, bought a bottle of my fave vino and been enjoying André Rieu snuggled up with the dog. My kids are with their dad and want to call me at midnight otherwise I'd have been in bed long ago! I hate NYE, I don't know why, I just find it eerie and it makes me anxious.

If I might have a wee moan, can I just say that a lot of people aren't happy to be alone, and those who take part in these threads who patently aren't on their own can make things seem worse to them. That's why I didn't #joinin with Sarah Millican on Christmas Day.

Completely agree with all of that, plus I was on #joinIn a few years ago and it attracts alot of creepy predatory feckers. Also does alot of good too to balance out my own negativity.

I'm in alone with my beautiful baby girl 4 months. Was expecting a night in with partner who went to pub never came back having promised a takeaway. Went to bed hungry. Want to kick him out
